I’ve been working with BMWs for 25 years. I still love the older models. Used to have an e30 318is, then traded up for a 99 M coupe and now the newest car I’ve ever had for myself an 05 325 touring that I swapped from an auto awd to 5spd manual rwd. But my heart still lies with the BMWs from the 80s and 90s. Hopefully have another, one of these days.

Bring it on with getting up the E21 up to dream standard!! I think that it would be pretty cool if you swapped the six cylinder in, you can do the engine bay then. That's a beautiful E21 already, love the color! I think ATM there is so much content that you can do with this one :)

You and your e21 were one of the reasons i bought an old e24 when corona started. I will never regret it and will keep it forever!

Gotta love an E21. Great story too. How common are the 16 valve engines from the E36 - 318is. That would be a good swap. If you stick with the OE unit I would go for ITB's with EFI and possibly a 'mild' camshaft. You would still get all the intake noise but with the reliability of EFI.

Had a 2 door 323 on a B reg back in the mid 90's, beautiful car, I'm sure Becky knows more about the car than me😊

Yep the classics definitely have a place, I have an e30, I was always torn between the 2.. Yours looks great, the heater problem.. me too, it’s just a thing we Gota do, around this age… Yours looks timeless, honestly, new carpets, heater fixed, preferably a six cyl with Webber carbs then it’s complete.. I’d be pretty happy with that build. It was a good watch, cheers! P.S yes I’m from the drift scene but I also love my classics!

Nice car. I had a 320/6 auto e21. Same colour, and I notice you've got the 6 cylinder front light setup 😊 I personally hate the fact suspension parts are not so available, so I completely understand your move to air ride.

Have you got the full tool kit in the boot, they are always things that go missing, I had an e36 with the full tool kit and a working touch in the glove box, a very rare thing to find. That car like yours was so reliable, brought it on 66k and put another 100k on it and had hardly any issues with it, the most expensive bill was a new clutch at 300 quid which was so cheap. I had small issues like wiper motor and a window regular but pretty much a bulletproof car, plus it was a 6 pot so had that fantastic bmw sound.

Becky, pls keep that E21 its only going up in value as time goes on. these cars in the next 10 to 15 yrs will fetch 120k easy in decent condition and my sure yours is better than decent condition.

I’d of picked the 2002 tii turbo if I was going to have a classic BMW but they are super rare and silly money but I do like your choice and it looks in fantastic condition.

An old school bmw has to be a 6 pot, that would be a great swap. So what if it’s only a 2.0L it will have that classic bmw engine note and with twin webbers will sound glorious.

For some reason I thought this was your dad's old car, this red one lol and then you restored it or something. Looks really nice though besides the carpets but not sure how easy that is to sort out or maybe you like the patina. Battery probably needs to be kept on trickle charge or keep it regularly driven or turned over so it charges from the alternator if the air ride is constantly taking power. Most of my dream classics are JDM and the prices have rocketed since I was looking at them back in like 2013/2014

Absolutely beautiful lady. I'm 43 and remember people my parents age in executive jobs having cars like this in the 80s. The older you get you start looking round and the little details on older cars like the chrome it just doesn't exist anymore.

My dad had the exact same car 316 it’s actually got a 1.8 engine. Did you know that It was navy blue with the single headlights I loved the way the bonnet opened the wrong way 😂 with the Beije interior, it was of its time

1990 Essex - not long passed my test and a few lads have e12 323i and are powering round burning off the Capris/Escorts MK1/2 etc (Not always - don't beat me up) but i hadn't got the BMW bug yet - my Dad gets an e23 & series and I'm sold. My first car at 17 (I am 50 now) was an e23 728i auto - Vreg which seemed vast at the time but pretty damn quick. I progressed to the big engined luxo cars but 1991 I went for an auto e30 316 in Zinnobar Red that was £7k! - wish i got my hands on an e21 - yours is AWESOME Becky - never let it go! :-) x

Don't forget to check the bulbs on the instrument cluster when you do the dashboard. It would be a shame if one went out after reinstalling it.
