HOW I BECAME a FULL TIME SCULPTURE ARTIST by ACCIDENT | Q and A

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Find out how I made a gift for my grandmother and became a self-taught professional sculpture artist by accident. As I answer your questions I tell you about my biggest ever sculpture, my smallest ever sculpture, my inspiration, my approach to designing a sculpture and more.
I'm James Parker. I grew up in south west Scotland, the son of a farmer, and had no thoughts of ever becoming an artist. I spotted an opportunity one day to use some slates which someone was discarding. I used them to create a sculpture in my grandmother's garden. It received so much interest I became a full time artist within a year.

I first started watching Scotland unplugged with your brother Robert Parker. That algorithm then put me on to Hoof GP with your brother Greame Parker. Of course he mentioned your KZread channel. I tried looking up your channel but couldn't find it. Then today I watched the video you and Greame did together he just put on his channel. I looked you up again on KZread and your channel popped up there. I've been enjoying your videos today. I'm subscribed to all three brothers channels. I absolutely love your sculptures! You live a fascinating life, I enjoy getting to know you more as a sculptor and the man behind them. I love that cube! That is one sculpture that you just don't ever tire of seeing, I think it's because you put it on its corner. People in Minnesota are getting ready for the fishing opener, and yard work is in full swing, the farmers are in their fields and the flowers have started blooming. It's good to see Spring again!

James Parker Sculpture I’m going to remember it for when I buy a home again. I love to sit and watch the fire. With the firebox off the ground, it would be easier to see. Putting the wood up above makes sense and gives an interesting aesthetic.

Great video James. Very interesting to hear how you started down this road. I love the idea that you used to build dry stone walls and obviously use some of those techniques in your art. I’ve often thought that those walls, so skilfully constructed, were works of art in themselves. There is something so pleasing in your organic structures using such hard and resilient materials. If I win the lottery, I’ll definitely be commissioning a sculpture from you

You do beautiful work. It was your brother who told us about you. (the hoof GP) I love his videos and I am looking forward to watching your videos, too. I am from a little bitty town named Freeville New York, United States. The only claim to fame our town has is that there is no other town in the world named Freeville, other than our little piece of heaven in Upstate NY. The region I live is also called Upstate, Finger Lakes region, Central New York and the largest town that is nearby is called Ithaca NY, it is the home of one of the Ivy League Universities called Cornell University, very famous school. This area is also known for some of the BEST wine, ever with loads of beautiful grape vinyards. We, of course, grow apples in NY state. (It is why New York City is called the Big Apple, because of all the apple orchards across the state (there is more to it, but it's about the apples) Anyway, enough about us. I am going to finish watching this video, then watch MORE of your stuff. I honestly do think your work is beautiful. Thank Graeme for the additional people coming to your channel! I came because of Graeme, however I plan on staying, yes subscribing, and watching, because the art is so beautiful. You 2 are very handsome young men! Escape to the country introduced Rupert Till with his creations and Capel Tension had a brief clip. You should be next.
