How I became a developer - My long journey to becoming a software engineer

When I first started my channel, I created a video on how I became a developer. Since that video is a few years old, this video is an updated version that will hopefully be inspirational for you. My journey to becoming a web developer/software engineer started when I graduated with a degree in Management Information Systems, then did some self teaching and went to a coding bootcamp before landing a job as a developer. Check out my channel for more information on getting into tech and my life as a Software Engineer.
Hope you enjoyed the video :)

💁🏾‍♀️ Who Am I:
Greetings, my name is Tiffany! I have been a Software Engineer since 2017. I have mostly focused on backend engineering specifically using PHP/Laravel and MySQL. I enjoy the journey of learning, contributing to making a better product and working with a great team.
I first learned about code back in 2009 but didn’t really understand the entire tech field at the time. Later on, I decided to join a coding bootcamp called Coding Dojo, to improve my tech skills - It definitely was the best decision for me! It was a long journey and I started documenting my journey via youtube.

@@Tiffanyt899 awesome. its always a motivation to me to see persons who basically pursued studies totally away from computer related subjects and now made a change to go into that field. i myself am basically a business student, i did business studies: Sales and Marketing in college 10 years ago and now am 27 and ive never worked a sales and marketing job yet. i dont know how your suppose to have 5 to 10 years experience if your now coming out of college.... i learned about coding from seeing codecademy.com Ads on facebook when they first came out years ago and i was amazed that most of the things we used like the internet, appliances an so much more do what they do because of programming languages that codecademy made look like it was so easy a cave man could do it. so i started learning my first language which was Javascript and it was amazing, i could print my name, i could print hello world, i could do math and it just felt great. i actually felt like if i was smart for a change, i then i met for loops and my brain shut down, an i hit a road block an every time i thought about opening up the lesson to try an tackle the problem, i just kept remembering how hard it was to understand and i never went back to the lesson. schools in my country (st Vincent and the Grenadines) at that time were not offering any sort of coding program. so i didnt have any community that i could link with and at the time the only motivating thing was seeing kids online who were like coding prodigies and i just thought "ive only had average grades in school why am i hurting my head with this now" . Years went by and i started this cycle of going on the site and starting up new languages, learning them till it got hard an then forgetting about it. now after viewing more videos from persons who were like me and more, ive decided to give this coding thing a try again, its something that has always been at the back of my mind. also since there are more online communities out there i know that when ever am stuck theres somewhere i can go to ask for help. my plan is to finish the codecademy lessons and to sign up for either a code dojo or a college or university overseas. college in my country is kinda hard to get in, even though you have the minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) grade. each subject area has a different level requirement to meet. so for example to do computer science you need to have: Mathematics - grade I or II (CSEC) or GCE equivalent English A - grade I, II or III (CSEC) or GCE equivalent Information Technology - grade I or II (CSEC) or GCE equivalent i got a grade 3 for maths and i never did information technology so i cant get in to the program. overseas though is more flexible and even if you've never done any subjects within that field you can still get in, which is awesome.. am sorry for the worded post, just felt like i could tell you this.
