Well you can take any dataset and create a dashboard within excel if you'd like! I normally just use it to clean data or manipulate it a bit before I import it into a BI tool

100% will have to supplement unfortunately. That course will give you a great foundation of everything data, the tool specific courses will get you GOOD at the tools.

@IanKlosowicz

Well you can use LinkedIn and filter for part-time. But I have never heard of a part-time data analyst usually because there is a lot to do. There could be a whole bunch of roles though I just never looked into part-time
Hi.Iam currently stuck in the tutorial hell.I see somuch videos and information and topics regarding these tools and get overwhelmed seeing how much there is to learn..I am not able to move to further topics thinking I need to go deep and into complex problems to be job ready and Im stuck forever. Were these courses and certificates you took were enough for you when you landed the job and in the real work environment ,how complex can the tools usage can go?
@IanKlosowicz
16 күн бұрын
Bare with me... These courses absolutely were enough to land me my first job. The only struggle you will come across is passing a technical interview so you need to be proficient enough to solve these questions. They are not difficult if you've been a data analyst for a while but to a new person, they can be so your best bet is to practice like crazy (NOT meaning to learn in-depth or advanced courses). I can't tell you what your interview questions will be because every company is different but for the majority if its Excel (know xlookup, sumifs, and pivot tables), SQL (know joins, case statements, CTEs, and aggregations), BI tool (know how to create a clean dashboard) Complexity in the tools will go up after you land your job but that's ok because you will be paid to learn it AND that will be the only thing you focus on so it's a lot easier to manage.
Would you say knowing Python and demonstrating strong programming skills in data analytics would make an applicant more competitive in the job market than someone who doesn't know Python and maybe only has the typical data analytics skill set (excel, SQL, etc)? Thank you for the video.
@IanKlosowicz
15 күн бұрын
Yes and no. So it definitely would if the job required or said "nice to have" Python experience but if Python is not mentioned, it would have 0 advantage. I look at it as a ROI on time invested. By the time you are proficient enough at Python, you could have become way more skilled in SQL or a BI tool making you more valuable to the company. But if it's a tool you really want to do, go for it! There are plenty of jobs that are looking for it so do what you truly want

Hi It’s tough to get job in this job market couldn’t even get interviews ..is that really there are looking for junior data analyst ? Cz wherever I see it’s about senior level what about when people got career gap ?
@IanKlosowicz
11 күн бұрын
You’ll have to use filters and only look at entry level. There are less entry level than senior positions so you’ll have to keep looking
Is it important to have a strong communication skills for becoming data analyst because as a analyst you need to explain the insights of data to everyone. also is there any free courses available regarding the sql, power bi ,etc
@IanKlosowicz
8 күн бұрын
Communication is SO important! This will help you in your interviews as well as on the job as you will be expected to work with others and present findings or talk to clients. For free courses, I am not sure. You will have the best luck looking here on KZread. I preferred the paid course route since they are usually more structured.
How long it takes you? thanks for the info!

I prefer Tableau but that's because I have tried both out. Both are free so go ahead and download them, try each one out, and choose one. Don't focus too much on this so it's best to make a decision and stick with it. Put your focus into building projects

The real answer is: it probably happened more than 5 years ago. You can't do it now unless hyper connected, genius or willing to risk waiting 2 years to get a job while doing many courses and certificaTIONS and building a portfolio for a chance at a junior role that now requires what a senior did 5 years ago. Be careful with misinformation!
@IanKlosowicz

I’ve been in data for only 2 years and every student I have had has became a Data Analyst with this exact method. I actually show you in this video a way to get a job without needing to be hyper connected. Be careful with negative people!
