How Hertz Tricked Us Years Ago

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's not too satisfying to be tricked no matter what ultimately happens with the other company. In the end though it does seem i'll make some money from Hertz after all. Fingers Crossed!

Hertz ripped me off when I was 21 forgot my credit card on a quick trip to Orlando and made a deposit of $500.00. When I returned the car they refused to give me my $500.00 back. I called the Police they showed them my receipt and the Cop said this was a civil matter and he couldn't do anything. When I got home called Hertz Corporate but got the run around. 1 year later the New York State Consumer Affairs did a announcement that if anyone used Hertz rental Car in Orlando Florida and made a $500.00 deposit didn't get their Money back and has a receipt to contact them. I found the receipt called them and ended up getting my $500.00 with interest and 5 free car rentals. Used the 5 free Rentals which was a pain in the ass to use because the Manager at the Hertz place made such a fuss about it each place I rented from. Never have and Never will Rent a Hertz car again.

I rented a Maxima for my channel and told the guy I didn't want insurance. He gave me some employee discount but stuck some kind of $30 dsl charge. I read the bill and call the corporate number. They said it was insurance. I took the car back 2 hour later and told them I wanted my money back. I had to call corporate again and they sent my money back less $24 for the 2 hours. I will not rent from them again.

I left after 9 hellacious months, and I was almost vilified for leaving them. Two years later, COVID-19 hit, and the Hertz that I worked at ain't looking so good right now. I'm not clairvoyant by ANY means, but all the same, bullet dodged, crisis averted.

Hertz is the only company that I respect, they will rent to people under 25. Its inexcusable to deny an adult, 18+, a rental. @@elijahlawrence8010 The kicker is that the fee was never in the rental contract. At all. I had a lawyer go over it for safe measure. I don't like the blanket age clause. I am now a commercial Driver with many miles under my belt with not a single accident or moving violation. Never once have I even been issued one. Started driving at 16. Even if I went in there at 19 (don't remember, but it's plausible), that means that I had 3 years of spotless record already. No reason not to rent to me aside from age. Just doesn't seem right.

The whole car ownership world is changing rapidly and it seems to me that most of the younger generations, the current 20 and 30 year olds, don't really want to own a car.. they just want ACCESS to a car. Hence the success of Zip car and Turo. I can totally see Hertz reformatting to attract and cater to that audience which is absolutely growing daily. Btw, thank you for all your informative and entertaining content. Keep up the great work! I hope in a couple years I can attend one of your adventure drives. 😁

I've only rented from Hertz once. It was a 2006 Shelby I got for $99 a day with 100 miles. Ended up paying for an extra 85 miles. It was fun for a different type of rental. Oh and if Hertz goes bankrupt, the stock is then usually worthless as the stockholders are the lowest on the list. Good luck Rob!

The Hertz Stock (HTZ) is a risky place to put your money right now. I held their stock for 2 weeks (sold it all yesterday), I made a quick buck. I think the 'American' side of their business is likely to restructure through bankruptcy, this could mean that all common stock shareholders will loose their money and the company will re-issue stock to the market (NO shareholder will be given new stock). There is also a chance that the company restructures through a bankruptcy and keeps their current stock (maybe even issues more stock, which would be bad in the long run, and will likely cause the price to dip down before rising). In summary, there might be an opportunity here, but WAIT, Hertz will soon be making an announcement about their current/future financial situation (sometime around May 22nd/May 25).

@@maxmackinlay618 Not Enterprise, Uber. I've been traveling for business for years and lots of us have switched from renting cars to just using Uber/Lyft instead. The rental companies just were more of a hassle and less value for the money.

I had to return my ride share Hertz rental car because they’re closing down the lyft express drive program in Los Angeles o. June 26th. So they are reclaiming all rental vehicles used for ride share at the moment.

That's an old French arms trials trick. Have all the big makers submit guns for trials and then say "this has been an awesome trials, we've all had a lot of fun and learned a lot of things and we are pleased to announce that we've selected none of you lot and you can all go home, it's been real, we'll be in touch, don't call us, we'll call you!" then take the best bits from every gun and have the state arsenals make something with those best bits. This doesn't produce as rifle as great as you think it would, so it probably doesn't make so good a car rental concern, either.
