How heart failure brought me back to life | L.T. Kirk | TEDxAntioch

Our lives can be derailed in an instant by circumstances beyond our control. However, whether or not one has a heartbeat, life truly does go on, with or without them. Learning to accept a new reality and finding new paths to fulfilling our dreams after a life setback or deadly diagnosis can be a difficult journey, but the rewards can be better than anything we have ever dreamed before. In this talk, L.T. shares his journey and how his dreams, when revisioned, became larger and greater than he thought they ever could be.
L.T. Kirk is a performer trained in classical voice, opera, and theater. He is also a long term survivor of Cardiomyopathy, a form of heart failure. Living with a life threatening chronic illness has taken L.T. on a physical and emotional journey of self discovery and re-discovery of life. While his health greatly limits what he can do on stage, he has discovered new outlets for his passion behind the scenes. He co-founded KB Productions, a theater company, and serves on the board of HustedDance, a summer intensive program for college aged students of modern dance. L.T. has received award recognition for directing and producing, and his company was nominated by the Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce for their Leadership in the Arts award for 2015. He lives in Nashville, TN with his husband and their seven rescue dogs.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I'm 32 diagnosed in February too, but went whole plant based vegetarian from March, exercised too and it helped me lots. Then I finally prayed so hard for a miracle with friends and family & we fasted too. Had a desire to go for more tests after the prayer 4 days ago. I was told my heart has somehow healed. In less than a week, 90% of my symptoms have disappeared. This is my testimony & I have medical reports to prove it. You have to fight it, don't accept defeat & I pray for you.

Thank you for putting this out there. It was good information I can pass on to my father, recently diagnosed Hear Failure, it irritated me that the term is so terminal, I will be sending him this video, the part that he struggles most with right now is the crash days. An active 80 year old, he has been given no goals, what he should be doing to improve his heart health, this is my role now to educate and give him access to information he may not have found. Excellent job, Thankyou

I have read a story about a chef that had cardiac arrest in front of National Jewish Health hospital. They resuscitated him more than one time and he was told he had congestive heart failure. His cardiologist at National Jewish Health gave him some heart failure drugs and strongly recommended a strictly plant based, no added oil, diet. He followed that recommendation and no longer has heart failure. I know sometimes the disease has gone too far, but I have also read about people who were told they were too far gone and this plan worked. Worth a try, what is it going to hurt?

The main reason for chf is several low nutrients it needed. CoQ10 in Ubiquinol form will easily reverse from Congestive Heart Failure to Normal Heart again. Also, magnesium, D-Ribose and Carnitine are needed. You need those nutrients to charge the heart to get it back to normal. And yes, a healthy is important, but not always. And there are no medications that would improve the heart, just treat the symptoms.
