Thanks Joann. Much appreciated 😀
Thank you for this live session. It’s such a huge help for me to start thinking about the art I want to create and creating a plan for myself in how I’m going to achieve it. I don’t want to take away anything that I’ve learned from other videos about using value and deliberate mark making but this video has helped me to break it down in a way that is so much more actionable. I’m new to your channel and can’t wait to learn more! Thanks again

Welcome aboard, I agree with you...Stephen makes it all so simple with his good explanation and amazing tutorials.
Stephen, have you thought about using closely-spaced dots among your variety of marks for achieving value and shading effects? Something like halftone dots? Or do you find that short hatching marks are easier to control for your intended effects? (I realize you make effective use of dots to locate heights, widths, and proportions, and that you occasionally use dots for texture on the ground or in the texture of grit on rocks, etc., or even in closely-spaced miniature archtectural elements. I'm wondering about a more general use for value and texture...)
Hi stephen, I'm watching your video from surrey in England.
