My little cousin and i back when i was 6-8yrs old would often role play as humans or elves. I am a large fan of anything wizard till today, so naturally i would impersonate the human wizard hero and the occasional moon priestess, and as we lived in a farm large sticks were often around us, i had a stick with a pillow as a head of a horse and another with a few marbles at the tip hot glued for a magic staff. My cousin would be the paladin with a sword cause he loved Arthas, and we would go around roleplaying, often pespering my cousin's older sister and our grandmother, i remember us shouting the names of the orc and undead heroes pretending to have a gruesome fight around the house SGFSIDJYTDY.

Picking the WINlord is a guaranteed win. So I knew the outcome from the start.

Warcraft 3 is such a cool game - very fun strategy! Pillage is fantastic and I love this hero combo.

Nobody will believe me but this is how I always did my builds back in the day. Orc heroes creep slowly without healing so I alwayd made 2 like this.

Why no one believe you? What? Always in RTS chobos do things for years before it became pro, this was often how it was done! [Btw: I used this opening, too but for 4v4 Sh solo as a fun strat :P] ...Changed meta, new meta... things need to evolve and find their way into high lvl, transition etc, lining up with other new findings or new strats who together make that BO (sometimes) worth on high level. And stuff takes also time to prove it works and what not. You dont believ how stubborn ppl are on given strats! How often I heard in talk with dunning krugers: "Didnt see it on pro level must suck" blablabla Always do what works for you personally. Furthermore: what's possible someone has probably done somewhere before, just didn't bother enough or was't great otherwise i.e. in micro! Thats why some pros said: I saw my (weaker) opponent do this great strategy on me, but I thought I can do that much better, i.e. Uthermal (sc2) used such exact strat to win vs a Korean in a tournament... Hf

Pretty sure anyone who prefers to open sh or tc does that. You can do a normal opener with sh if you use wards especially in team games but in 1v1 tc/sh has always been about 2nd fast grunt. The food increase from Town centre made it perfectly reasonable and arguably preferable to the typical 1 grunt fast tech for these two, especially in 1v1

Yea I do it in 4v4 for years. For SH first xD. But I always considered it a fun strat! (4V4 was always for fun strats) At least as solo hero, which is almost the only reason to start with SH...

I think his title and first sentences is 100% clickbait more than anything honest. As what you say ppl do it for said reason, just not on pro as those heroes are a little lackluster in some cases.

For someone who wants to save orcas, they sure like to pay attention to warcraft 3.

This really does creep really well. On a larger map (for even more creeping), would be good to also get Tauren Chieftain 3rd.

No cap I used to play like this because I didn't know what to do with a solo hero and no units, I'd do barracks first then altar on orc. I was bad back then (still am lol), and I had another friend who went that way. It's not that the build wasn't discovered, rather not used in high end play.

I'm almost certain this starting build order as in the WC3 battle chest strategy guide. I always thought this build was considered bad because you got your hero really late on most maps it would be down a whole level.

I enjoy when people have a bit more t1 units in game

Pitlord seems to be difficult to kill with armor rings, can weaken armies with howl of terror, and threatens positioning with cleave. But TC's endurance aura helps your whole team and can offer AoE stun.

Funny thing is, and I know the opponent was not among the best players, but it seems SO easy. So I'd actually recommend this build to myself and any new joiners. It is the most non micro related orc build because you have 1-mass grunt & HH, 2 - heal/howl of terror. So you only need to micro your units, use 1 spell from a hero and spirit link. So having low apm would not have such an effect as it would if you go with the meta stuff. And last but not least, SH first is the most enjoyable opening for orc and it gives such flexibility that it's beyond me how it has not somehow been incorporated into the meta :D (unfortunately)

this is my build in 2003-2004 after frozen throne launched, I made perfection with store as well, so 1 will have 1FS + 2Grunts + 2 healingsalve, then immediately rush to opponent base while producing and rallying grunts, sending back all red with healing salve, there's will be a time when enemy succeeded the defend, by that you start producing catapult and TP and recover, in the second wave of rushing it would be really hard for enemy to defend. Fyi this build is not working well against UD

I always started with this build in 2003/4 as a noob, thought it was standard. I couldn't kill any creep camps with 1 grunt 1 hero. might have been supply capping myself or nerfing lumber income with 20 pop at the time

I had this same build order back in 2002... Shadow hunter wasn't a thing back then.

4:10 I have faced this several time actually SINCE reforged, never in classic. Must be because of their new/re-engineered engine. In 1v1 but actually more in 4v4 when creeps from another camp suddenly came over wasn't even close xD. I could tell you 4 exact spots on top of my head where it almost always happens, and I see it on others i replay sometimes.

So It's clearly a bug. Too bad they are not listening to 4v4/team game community, otherwise we could turn OFF the gyrocopter ground attack, ofc with delay and cooldown (so to ensure it for strategy not as a trick), because you don't want to research it for combats (.....), but it's nice add vs buildings or special cases. (i.e. no ground aa expected) again cooldown and delay, this is 100% legit and useful for teamgames SIMILAR to the new gargoyle micro button!! (Which is only for micro purpose) But the gyro thing has more purposes, covering the disadvantages of the research - BECAUSE it is a research , it should (optionally) not give those disadvantages!!

lvl 10 DL with OoC, and filled with blades of attack can be too.

It's a big mess with undead status of non-undead units. You can heal a fel hound with a coil, but not a fel beast or fel ravager. Basically, if I remember correctly, coil kills every demon that wasn't in ROC. Also, holy light heals archer skeleton and some other obviously undead units. Idk if blizzard fixed it.

@@BlankeeStarcraft It depends on what you want to do, and against what race you are. If you want to go hero focus, alchemist is nice, with chemical bomb, second you go blade master. If you go mass headunters, tinker with factory or beast master with bear to tank can be very strong. Against undead - pitlord is awesome, it can't be coiled, also the spells are great, especially agaimst mass ghouls, howl and cleave will kill the ghouls very fast. But, as I said it depends on the enemy race and your own style, if you want to harass or creep.

I always do this build with orc. I thought it was noob build. I like having healing and i like shadow hunter lvl 3 + lvl 5 midgame is almost gg but it's hard to get there fast enough because he is so weak pre lvl 3

Bro this was dope Howl of Terror + Spirit Link + Healing Wave = literally nothing ever dies Meanwhile the cleave damage on Pitlord just keeps compounding until enemy has to retreat or die Very cool strategy to see

At the start of game, rax, first peon to altar, 2nd peon to burrow, 3rd peon to gold, 4th to wood, 5th to wood, 6th to wood and at 40 wood turn-in, another burrow. -> allows you to continuously pump grunts and still gets your hero out relatively fast, gets you 3 grunts before night time and still lines up for a relatively decent shop and tier 2 timing.

I'm certain this opener has been in use for a long time; it just never had any exposure at high level.

couldnt you just have the hero come out as quickly as usual, and then sit around for 12 seconds waiting for the second grunt? also why would you have 1 extra grunt at any point in time? you could just do one more grunt if desired even if you build your hero from the get-go?

People that say Pitlord is a Demon in chat... well ye I guess. But all races in the burning legion are considered Demons. The Eredar in the legion are also Demons, not really useful in that sense 😅

How is this build order new? Surely building all 5 peons directly onto gold is a natural decision.

I have actually done this in 4v4 for years. xD (I do not play 1v1) Why? Ofc nothing serious but shadow hunter level 6 as goal. Or it's good for TC. I think it comes naturally to create such BO when you have a goal in mind, here supporting a weak starting hero.

The pause at 10 for the additional grunt seems like a must / logical thing all would do, if you want this. And other BOs had involved pausing worker production for faster anything.

"SPOILERS" Man, Orc got absolutely clobbered by Undead in the last tournament. Both Lyn and FoCus lost ALL games to Eer0 and Happy. The final score was 10-0 Undead-Orc. And the worst part is that Undead won 10 games in a total playing time of less than 2 hours. In fact, around 90 minutes!. The 2 hard nerfs to HH + the previous 2 hard nerfs to Far Seer + the buff to ghouls made this matchup unplayable. Poor Lyn tried 3 different builds againt 120 and still lost 3 games in 30 minutes!! Everything just dies to endless waves of frenzied ghouls + skeletons with coil/nova fed by statues killing everything. You can't even run away because frenzied + Unholy aura makes ghouls 2 X faster than HH. Orc goes flying experience tomes to avoiid the insane spee an DPS of ghouls, and the Undead heroes level even *faster* as wyverns are even squisher to nova than HH. It's an absolute joke. It's funny that people used to say that Happy is the best of all times, when he's being helped by imbalance all these years. Because it's not just Happy dominating, but also 120. 120 beat both Lyn 3-0 and FoCus 2-0 as well.

Uh I am a little astonished that you call this "new", I played this in 2003/2004 in league. Low league nothing to mention but it was a standard build for me.

Not bragging, because I am a dumb casual, but this has always been my TC-first orc build order way back since TFT came out. It's just simpler and I was never gosu enough to do anything impactful with a hero 14 seconds earlier anyway.
