Time does move really fast. I remember 2020 we all liked Jorge Masvidal and and hated Colby Covington. Now the roles are reversed. I remember being such a huge fan of Izzy to it now being the opposite. I wouldn’t say I thought Kamaru Usman was going to be a decade long Champ because I always rooted for Leon Edwards whenever he was always saying “I believe I deserve a title shot next”. I remember seeing Masvidal getting kod flat out which was crazy cause we all praised him for having a chin. Time flies

@209starrrr nah most people sitll hate Colby for being very inactive . And most people didn't think Jorge would be champ but rooted for him for being a regular dude from the streets . Even in 2020 most people thought usman and khamzat and ixzy would run those 2 diveuons for years to come

TJ is 37 and won the belt in 2014...it didn't move that fast. Garbrandt was in and out. He happened to overlap with TJ's pretty long career. They aren't comparable and never were looked at as the future of the division at the same time.

TJ is one of my favorite fighters. His movement at his peak was so fun to watch. It was like Cruz's awkward movement, but more structured. That weight cut to fight Henry was insane though. TJ was cutting a lot for 135, and taking another 10 off made him look like a skeleton. The fact he even tried it blows my mind. No excuses for his mistakes, and the blemish it puts on his legacy. But he never really had a boring fight, and he had some amazing dominant performances. He's not the goat, but he's up there with the greats of the division.

He is the Bantamweight GOAT and Best Fighter (TBE). - More well rounded than Cruz and Aljo - Most finishes in BW History - Most MMA Sites that do the rewatch of Cruz-Dillashaw unanimously say TJ should've won - Finished Barao 2x - Finished Cody 2x - Beat Sandhagen on a Torn ACL *On the EPO situation. - For sure fault TJ for that. It happend at 125 and we all can see he should've never went that low. Tryna compete at 2% body fat is fatal for most. He took it to make the weight and fight, his levels were actually equal to Henry's that fight bc he was doing it to get back to normal due to the weight cut. - Previous samples retested and perfectly clean with normal T-Levels - First fighter to come out and honest about it. Story made sense and was consistent since Day 1 - Came back off a 2 year layoff and torn ACL to beat a top 2 guy in Cory Dismissing his 135 career bc of what happened at 125 is comical. Bc the same ones that dismiss him usually are pounding the desk for Jon Jones that has had 4 PED busts/related failures. 1 time is bad, but a man can bounce back from it. But 2 or 3 or 4. Naw. So while I don't rate Jon, I feel TJ given his honesty and the retesting of the past samples can still be rated. *Note: I don't have Cruz as the 135 GOAT bc majority of his 135 wins were guys that ultimately were 125 guys that had to fight at 135 bc 125 wasn't created yet. Benavidez, DJ, McCall, Jorgenson and the early WEC guys. Smh. Uriah while I respect him, lost to every great fighter he fought like sadly. On the TJ win, multiple reputable popular MMA sites have dine fight rewatches and Unanimously now all say TJ should've won. Cruz was credited with making TJ miss, but wasn't actually outlandish TJ or pushing the action himself. So with this context. What great wins does he have at 135? Faber and Bowles Munhoz???. He was outclassed by Cody, KOd vs Cejudo, Finished by Chito. Just my opinion though. Cruz is #2 *Aljo: wins just are so marred in controversy. #3 imo

It was only after he got beat twice by Max and other bigger 145 lbs fighters that he decided to move down. The other reason why Aldo never moved down previously was because his teammate Renan Barao was at 135. Cruz was always injured so the timeline never aligned for him to fight Aldo. When Aldo was at 135, he was clearly over the hump, Dillashaw was at still at his peak, it just never aligned for them to fight. And then Dillashaw got a 2 year suspension for epo. Timeline just never aligned.

I'll always contend that this guy had a better claim to BW GOAT than Cruz. Barao racked up a 30 fight win streak and was still stupidly called INTERIM champion because out of respect for Cruz who hadn't fought for over 3 years at that point. His footwork and striking that he developed in the middle of his career, with no background in striking, is still awe-inspiring to see develop. To see a fighter go from okay raw talent with wrestling pedigree to an elite MMA striker with a mesmerizing brutal style. Something special

TJ wasnt liked because he asked the coaches to fight the guy that was thought of as the weakest fighter left in the tournament. His reasoning was that he wanted to take out the weakest guys so that the best fighters were left in the finale. The foreign guys on the team started trying to ramp it up and hurt him in training so TJ started going hard back at them and then that carried over with Marcus Brimage. So basically everyone on TJ's team started beefing with him.

He dropped off after he got caught cheating. He might be talented but his return has showed he's not the same and that EPO played a big role.

Doubtful. Look at what happened to Henry after he just took time off. He got walked in his fight with Aljo. TJ lost that fight to Sandhagen, but it wasn't due to a lack of EPO. That's time off, age, and the talent of the division skyrocketing while he was gone. Same thing happens with most great fighters who take off several years. Is Conor had come back and fought Dustin immediately, instead of taking the warmup fight against a shadow of Cowboy; the same would've happened to him as well. Jones is really the only fighter to take several years off and come back looking as dominant as ever.

Bro he came back at 35 years old hadn’t competed in 2 years and there we some new killers in the division the competition had gotten better he still came back and edged a win over Cory sandhagen and If it wasn’t for his shoulder he would’ve had a wayy better chance in that fight with aljo

Poor TJ, because let's face it, without USADA he would have had a master class of a career. And since USADA will not be around in 2024, this could have been his chance to shine. 2024 and onward will be crazy, we will see all roided up guys in the cage smashing each other. Good times ahead lol
