How Good is this 2013 Ventana from Newmar?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I got a call on a Friday from @Sewellmotorcoach Doug Sewell with Sewell Motor Coach to pick up a 2013 Newmar Ventana in Tucson, AZ ASAP. So just 3 days later, I had a return plan flight scheduled and headed to inspect and retrieve his RV. While southern Arizona is not incredibly far away, it is too close to fly and to far to be dropped off. So with the help of Chad Stevens, I borrowed a Cadillac as a tow vehicle and headed close to Tombstone. My second side quest was to bring my mom as a fun adventure for her. The third quest is to bring it back to the shop. The forth quest is to get replacement tires for the 10 year old rubber on them. But before that, I needed fuel as quest 3.5. After tires, I still needed bring my mom home, return the Cadillac and perform an inspection. While that seems like a lot, I still am going to drive the 2013 Ventana back to Sewell Motor Coach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Of course, in between are multiple journeys, and among them is finding La Ventana Arch in New Mexico, a thousand year floor wiping out my beloved bridge, and even a sunset sillouette of St. Louis. Naturally, I made it safely in no small part to new tires. But feel free to join me on this journey to Kentucky again, with a 2013 Ventana.

Very cool for your Mom to make an appearance. Another adventure in the books!
Nice seeing your mom
Mom with you that's awesome , I bet your a good son too .
Wonderful video...your Mom is gorgeous and really enjoying getting out, that is cool...nobody as good as you James...I keep learning and love your videos.
You do a very good review....that's what you should do full time....let the younger guys do the grunt repair work
Glad you got those tires changed. Beautiful shot with the RV at La Ventana Arch. Looked like you had a great trip, thanks for the video. Happy trails!
I love the short diesels. The black headlight shrouds on the Ventana look slick as well . Great video!
Hi Mom .
Great Vid! Good meeting your Mom, She did a good job with her kid. And you even stopped to smell the flowers. Sad to hear that Newmar used rubber on the Slideout tops in the early 2000 era, (my budget target.) Then there was that Beaver comparison to consider. Roof inspections, muscle memory....
Good size, comfortable and useful amenities
Hi mom ! James you perform a very thorough inspection.
Great video James! I have a 2011 Ventana 3934. When you mentioned the soft spot around the AC on membrane roof, well, that's what mine has... It is not critical but it will have to be fixed eventually. Other than that, it's a great machine and the motor is powerful enough even when flat towing a car uphill. Hope to meet you someday! 😁
Good job
Were the "friends" coyotes? Thank you for the video, James! Your knack of creating videos that are educational AND entertaining is admirable. Safe travels!
Hope you had a blessed Easter 🐇🐣 I really enjoy you videos..if I ever do get into RV life...wife has doubts....but she does like the travel Vans
hi mom!
So excited! Haven’t even watched yet! Edit: Hi mom!
Damn! I wintered at the CG directly behind RV City in Huachuca - I just missed you! LOL
MAMA IS BACK!!
Speaking of tire date codes, I purchased a 1981 Chevy, class C. Before purchasing, I did look at the tires and they looked newer. The original owner stated he kept it in a shop for the most part. But when I checked the tire codes, they were about 10 years old. With concern, I took it to a national, reputable tire shop. They inspected the tires and said they looked great and that the previous owner took great care of them. I have, since then, added a tire monitoring system. We are not planning any cross county trips but only a 100 mile radius. We live in Idaho so we don't have to go far to see beauty. Also about the tires, they are 16.5" and I've been told that these have been replaced with 16" tires but I do still see plenty of 16.5" tires for sale. Also at 9:35 you mentioned using clear silicone sealant along the top molding. I've been told to never use silicone on an RV. What say you?
Its very tall. I like the adjustable visor!
Hi mom
Hi mom! It's nice to see little cameos like this with your family. I just wanted to add to your critique of the token solar battery maintainer - they put an antenna right above it! And as you know, even a seemingly tiny amount of partial shading on a solar panel drastically decreases its output disproportionate to the actual area being shaded. Who comes up with these ideas?!
While working on my yearly wax job on my 2015 Newmar LA i found the screws holding the topper framing to the slide backing out. I ended up removing one at a time and using sikaflex 715 to hopefully keep those screws from backing out again.
Nice of you to spend time with your mom. I just had my unit out and of course new problems. Sprinter based no tail lights and the coach batteries don't seem to be charging, plugged in all night and bm says 0 %. Oh and tie rod end that runs the step broke too! Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks
Do you remember the flooding through phoenix in early 80’s that wiped out 7th street & central ave bridges? I grew up in S. phx and that was amazing to see.
We live in an RV paradise here in AZ lol
Sierra Vista is our hometown. We also emailed you to see about inspecting a rig in Yuma...
Your smile...
I was wondering, in the beginning of the video when you walked into the unit, whose pocket book/bag was on the sofa. You took your Mom with you? Or she was just visiting maybe. That was cool either way. Not a bad DP for the size. But Doug beat you to getting a video out of it .
Nice "Eastwood Chops" going on this week. Although I would hate to hear you say " The question is do feel lucky punk" to your mom. Lol... They look good, I josh with you, Keep on rockin em!

That visor is cool ..bet it cut glar
Nice unit. That floor plan would work for me. Not a fan of rear radiator units, but that is the mechanic in me coming out..

Agree 100%...But still a really nice unit...
Love seeing your videos James! Sure makes me look closer at my 1998 Fleetwood American Dream. Lots of great information, I’m currently on the fence about what batteries, house batteries to get next. Like to continue using deep cycle 6 volt, not sure what brand yet. What would be your recommendation, thank you!
Another great video James. I have that flow seal around roof and sewer vents on my 2014 Tiffin. That stuff hard as a rock and would be brutal to remove and reseal. Could it be applied over with Dicor or ( probably not) Hengs 311 without chiseling out the Flow Seal.
For a TPO roof what product do you recommend using for protection?
James what material do they use to bed the running lights. I have a Fleetwood and it has by all appearances the same material as this coach has around the rear running lights. My lights are cracked and would like to replace. But the sealant is the only the that has stopped me. It’s seems to be a hard clear material.
Hi Mom! 🙂 Great video as usual James! This is one of the only other RV's I've considered besides a Tiffin. How do you think they compare? (33AA Tiffin to this Newmar .. you have driven both!)
Hey James! Would appreciate your commenting on this type of rock guard on a rear Radiator: My experience is with this type rock/splash guard traps debris and Sucked into radiator clogging fins leading to running hot or overheating. Penny for your thoughts.

Hasn't been my experience. Mostly the nice laser cut stainless gets beat up and bent very quickly is the problem I see
James, How was the California Beaver trip? Was it the camera angle or was the outside ladder rail bent about an inch toward the center?
What do you mean by checking in the roof radius? Do you mean cracks in the fiberglass?
Hey Maa!! Missed this video. Where's my Beaver RV.......

I still have it
Haven't seen any of your family in a video in a long time.
When did Newmar transition from to gelcoat roofs? Were they using rolled roofing on everything? I really like their products but if I ever make the leap to a Class A I definitely would not want a rubber roof.
Bye mom
👍🏽
PDI = Pre-delivery inspection
How many miles do you drive in a day?
We are looking at a motor home I need to have inspected in Arizona how do we get ahold of you to make this happen?
What was your MPG from AZ to KY if you know? Thanks for all the videos...

@@AZExpert Thank you very much. All your work is appreciated...
What do you think about them using the hydraulic jacks to change the tires? I was told it isn’t good to use the jacks to lift the tires off the ground? My tires are about 9 years old and the manufacturer says they have a ten year life span so I’m going to need to change them soon. Thanks!
@AZExpert
Жыл бұрын
The jacks are strong enough be far, the manufacture says not to, because of liability if the jack or hose leaks when someone is under it.

@@AZExpert got it thanks! So when changing the tires is it better to use their floor jack or the rig jacks?
So when you do these deliveries of these motor homes for you bring your wife with you? Just asking I got offered to do one of these jobs of delivering motorhomes for a company in our area he's a broker. My wife said I could do it if I could take her along. She was just kidding but she thought it'd be kind of nice to take a short little vacation.
Did you pull a car?
Sounds like you need a bus cat
It is always nice to see you inspect and drive all these expensive motor homes that I will never be able to afford. But I enjoy the videos from the past where you work on travel trailers and fifth wheels.I enjoy your videos but 99.9% of those videos don’t apply to me.Just my 2 cents worth
Is there some reason why , people would tow their vehicle behind them than trailer it ?
@larrydowns6267

Trailers are a pain in the butt! I can hook up my Jeep in 10 minutes tops! Trailers add weight. Some parks will have no place to store the trailer. Been there done that, sold my trailer!
At 3:58 I noticed your left thumb nail has a dark area in the middle. It might just be a bruise but if the area enlarges you might want to get this checked by a dermatologist.

thank you. That's what happens when a screw gun slips off the screw head and onto your thumb.
Did I see that right!??? Did the tire shop exclusively use the leveling jacks to lift the motorhome completely off the ground for tire replacement? If so, that's a definite no no!
@AZExpert
Жыл бұрын
it's not a no no, they put support under too. It's deadly to be underneath without any suppports.

When I had my rig reshod, they didn't have a working hydraulic jack, but did have lift jacks (stabilizers/ stands for heavy machinery/rigs.) I used the rig's jacks to get the tires off the ground, and the shop used their lift jacks to stabilize in case of catastrophic failure of my jacks. The rig jacks literally hold a house in the air, they're capable. Also, you can visit a hungrier tire provider and save some money; rather than the big wheel shops that add $$$ without adding value. I replaced 6 tires for $3k in Dec'22.
What is your mother doing there? ☺ ✝️
This rig was not store inside😂
You need a different way of filming. Maybe a body cam? That way you have both hands to film
You should show the price of what 81 gallons of diesel cost you. 😅
