I was in this race! Ran in p6 for most of it until I unfortunately made a mistake and took a trip on the grass 😂 finished p9. I recognised you and your pace was crazy in this compared to everyone else. Good stuff James looking forward to more rF2 content!

Thanks, James, for this content! Although I am way off your pace, it was really fun to watch you in the same car/track combos that I just did! It's a short-lived treat as you will move up quickly into the non-beginner events and I'll never see you doing the same events as me again. You used the term "game changer" about this update to rF2 and although that term is way overused, I think you are exactly right! So many people, like you, have been wanting to love rF2 but couldn't because of the lack of quality online events. It's amazing to see how manyh people are participating in these events, even with it being a beta that you have to opt in to. Again, thanks for letting us watch you try it!

They really need to keep improving the ui and overall user experience. If they can keep doing that. This could become very popular.

​636 I just don't think that is true. In VR I'd argue it is the best looking sim. And the UI is fine - what can't you do/find in it?

@@Monke636 Visual improvements probably not that high up on the to do list considering that iRacing proves you don't need crazy good graphics and can hold on to a graphics design crime of a 2008 Windows XP UI and have a successful game in simracing. Besides that there already have been some improvements made to the UI in the last year/2 years, though I agree it could still be better function wise. In general graphics are pretty good if your PC can do it, especially on newer paid content. Some of the stuff shown here is older content, I believe, and thus doesn't look as good and more like iRacing graphics.

Hi James just wondering if you are getting into back into real racing soon? Really like your on track commentary, hey even if you went into MX5's and did your usual commentary on track I think that would be dope, maybe sell advertisement spots on the onboards haha. I think we really need more onboard commentary like you did with Spa 24hours and British GT those were amazing.

And don't forget to do Max Verstappens sim-racing trick. He turns all sounds down but the tires so he can hear the grip limit as well. And whatever cars those were you raced at Zandvoort looked like total fun.

that will only work for older cars that don't use the updated sound system. Now there's only 1 option to adjust for game sounds.

Hi James, nice video. When you say top 3 rF2, iRacing and AC. Do you mean AC or ACC? Would love to see a video with your opinion on different titels and how they drive compare to real life. Love to see your racing carreer continiu's and hope you have alot of great years ahead in sim and real life!

I mean't AC as ACC is just GT cars. Plus I prefer AC physics to ACC ever so slightly. That is a good video idea so I'll think about making something like that👌

Hi james. If the server status, at event setings tab top right says " waiting" then you wont be able to join practice. when it says " server started " then you can.

On Radical cars, Compared to reality, Is Rf2 or Assetto corsa the most realistic ? I find it quite slipery on RF2

Enjoying it a lot, the races are so fun. For some reason feels so much more fun and intense than Iracing in VR.

New to rF2. My car is visually wobbling around quiet a bit, especially open wheeler stuff. James on the other side seems to have a stiffer camera setting where the car movement is stable. Anyone knows what that setting is?

Never can get online to race as just as race is about to start I get connection lost and booted.??

I think rfactor 2 is a great sim but which gt3 physics do you prefer? ACC or rfactror2?

Am willing to give a try, but as I see it, there's no free content combination to try it out, properly. Though, I do own the base game. But I am not willing to buy (more) into something I don't know, coz I'm happy with AM2 and iRacing in general. It should at least offer something like the MX5 class to see, if it works and is worth putting more time into.

Hi James, if you press 3 on the keyboard you can get the triple rearview mirror, for the virtual side mirrors. Otherwise in the config you can also increase the mirror fov so its like in iRacing if you prefer that. You can also configure the game, so that you cannot shift down into neutral, other than by pulling both paddles, by specifying a keybind for "neutral". Can be adjusted in player config also :) And if you have a collision and your "damage indicator" shows some colour, that could just be optic damage. If the pit menu says "N/A" for damage repair (or gets skipped in the menu), then it won't affect performance.

It was me in front of you, when you gone for that mad 'shortcut', in radical race. First thoughts - "Damn, pushed and wiped out James...' But then realized that we did not contact. P.S. What braking approach are you using in rF2? 100% brake pressure (in car setup) and modulate it with pedal? Or finding sweat spot of brake pressure for each car? Or just leave it default?

Yeah dw was completely my fault on that one🤣 For these races my brake wasn't setup correctly, but I'm pretty sure the best way is to match the 'in car setup' brake pressure with your pedal pressure. Once they match, it gives a good, consistent feel on the brake.

Tip: Assign a button for Neutral so you wont accidently activate it. (only with double shiftting)

Nope, that's not fixing the issue and I had a discussion about this already in the forum. Happened too many times to me and there never was a time neutral was not mapped. Pathetic they can't fix such bugs and it killed at least one 24h Le Mans race for a team up front. Even with a GT3 the transmission seems to go into neutral for a split if a second between gears which I think is the main cause of it.

1000h on rf2, neutral button assigned and 0 issues. Maybe i’m luck, or it’s material?

@@ducat7493 Whatever it is, since it's just happen in rF2, it's S397 responsibility to fix it, not the user. And the neutral mapping can't have anything to do with it, because it's happening in higher gears as well. There is no reason at all that this is a fix other then to prevent shifting lower 1st gear.

@@Leynad778In 2.5 years of playing rF2, I have never been able to get the car into neutral by mistake and I run no assists whatsoever. In fact, after setting up the game for the first time, I thought it was impossible to get into neutral if you are in gear. All I did was map a key to neutral I don't even use (I prefer to pull both paddles so I can get into reverse quickly in case of a bin). I've also never seen anyone else having this issue besides James. As far as I'm concerned, what you are describing is nothing more than user error.

James, have you ever driven AMS2? And, have you driven it after the most recent update? It has replaced AC and Rf2 as my most played sim (something I never thought would happen. I have almost 1,000 hours on AC alone). I would be keen to hear your critique of the physics/FFB given both your sim and IRL racing accolades!

im assuming this is pretty much just beta testing the online system for le mans ultimate which is good news. so hopefully we get a more modern game with better graphics/ui/functionality and a good ranked system in le mans ultimate

So far its awesome, better racing experience then Iracing. Fun and often overlooked track.

I hope Le Mans Ultimate has better sky textures and lighting effects than rfactor 2.

I had fun the first time as I started 18 and finished 11th. But now I get kicked off from racing every time I try. It is ok up to time trials and then it says not connected. I am sure it is a bug but rf2 I like the best of all the sims so I'll be patient. Good Job as always James.

They got way more players than they expected so there are some growing pains (and its still beta). They crossed 10,000 subs to Race Control in just two weeks in an RC build.

SBMM is atrocious in CoD because of the way it's implemented. The way they do it favors the internal rank that you can't even see over everything else, including connections. If you get to be really good at the game, you'll start getting dogshit connections because it wants to match you with other people like you instead of people with a good connection so you might end up playing with someone in a different country or on the opposite end of your country resulting in atrocious ping. And what's it like facing a clone of yourself when you have shitty ping? Not very fun. And really, skill level doesn't go up as much as cheapness level goes up in those lobbies. You go from people running around to people clipping behind boxes or windows shooting their guns out of their foreheads for an entire match, or camping in a dark corner. Or even worse, behind one of Joe Cecot's God forsaken doors that they decided to add in Modern Warfare 2019 that are made by NASA and somehow open up both ways and are indestructible. You can nudge the door open and put your gun through it but on the other side someone looking at it can't tell it's open and will get shot by the camper. Also, said camper will usually have claymores that periodically and infinitely spawn out of his asshole because reasons. And to top it all off, when you get good, the game will frequently make you face Team Moderate to Severe Acne while simultaneously forcing you to carry BillyGoat57, HelenKeller69, xXA1w4yzS70n3d420xX, some dude breathing loudly into his mic the whole game, and 2 other randoms. And what do you get if you win? Absolutely nothing except even harder lobbies going forward because there's no rank or anything! You know the best part of this? I don't even play Call of Duty. I used to a long time ago. Black Ops 1 was the last one that I played but I still follow a Call of Duty KZreadr just so I can keep up with the game in case I ever want to go back. And when Modern Warfare 2019 was first announced and I saw stuff I almost decided to buy it but man am I glad I decided not to because these past few years of that franchise have been truly awful.

@@JoeyBagZ if you want the truth I just borrowed a bunch of catchphrases from the KZreadr I mentioned, Blame Truth. He's one of the CoD OG YT'ers. He was among the first, if not the first to start posting gameplay to this website back in CoD4 and probably the first to start doing commentary over it and he's been doing it ever since, albeit with some breaks from the platform over the years. He's not the very best, but he's good enough at the game to be in the top 2% of players stat wise in any CoD he plays, and in these past few games the SBMM has been especially punishing to him and other players like him. Basically it's an entirely different game to him compared to the average person which is pretty ridiculous. He's been railing against Activision, Bobby Kotick (thank fuck he's gone in December), and the shitty studios the past few years with all the awful decisions and I personally find his videos hilarious. He's a fan of old school pro wrestling and kind of treats KZread as a wrestling promo and plays a character, which is himself, but with his personality turned up to 11 which leads to a lot of yelling, catchphrases, cursing, and funny commentary. At the end of the day it might seem like all he does is bitch about the game but he does it out of love for the franchise and wants to see it improve and to that end, he has said that the latest MW3 game is the best game over the past 4 years and would be a good game if the SBMM system would get removed. He genuinely likes how the game plays and feels which is a huge improvement over the past few games.

Tried this last night and im going to give it another go today but the graphics really are awful on this Sim. I am happy to see a sim get a better online play but this is probably my least favorite sim out of the ones I have tried. Iracing,acc,raceroom,ams2,rfactor2

Iracing isn't looking better than rf2. 😅 Maybe some tracks - but I love the fact, that S397 choses to take some alternative tracks for the CS. I really don't understand the positive feedback on iracing. It's mediocre like other sims, too. But way, way overpriced.

im sorry, but why are you playing all your games at low settings? I mean I can imagine that too much can be distracting, but why no the middle ground then?

I must have some seriously screwed up settings. (Although, I'm using Fanatec's recommendations.) So far, RF2's physics remind mainly of Sega's 1980's "Outrun"!

RF2 has the best feel and tire response. The grass is god awful though.

First of all, Noise Alert! The opening music track was rocktastic but I wasn't expecting it to be so loud. I nearly dropped my beer 🤨Second, I bought a two year iRacing membership on Black Friday two years ago. I've played it about a handful of times. I don't like it. I started with AC and then ACC before getting AMS2 then rFactor2. Unfortunately, because the base game was on offer I decided to buy a load of DLC (car & track packs) thinking that was everything that was available (just like AMS2), so wrong. I've nibbled at it a few times but I think I'll wait to see what offers might appear in November. I've read RF2 is hard to set up but I'm Duplo Brick level so I won't notice the nuances of the Meccano level drivers. I've sort of gone off ACC. Might uninstall it and re-install AC.

The audio is all mixed to ultimately be the same dB, so the intro music wasn’t particularly loud compared to the rest of the video

what is with the tire squealing sound. it sounds so artificial just like Gran Turismo games.
