I like the new CVO ST but let's be real, it's not going to beat any big bore M8. For a emissions compliant motor its vey impressive but its a long ways from being a true hot rod bike.

That's true, but the cost to build it out to a big bore performance bagger is WAY less than any platform that has come before it. I would hate to add up what it has cost me to get my M8 CVO down to 800 LBS, with good suspension, great brakes, 150 HP (reliable), and comfortable ergonomics. H-D has done it for a grand more than I paid for my CVO a few years ago. Kudos to the MoCo.

Good Video and some great points on the new design! I made a comment on your CVO ST ride that I liked the old design better, and since then I am already thinking of going with a new 24 standard Road Glide in white, with the chrome finish. I currently own a 23 Road Glide Standard. My money is on you buying a new CVO ST in the very near future! 😎

Great content John. I agree with you 100% about people saying it cost way too much for a motorcycle like that but then you end up putting more money in the upgrade yourself so in the long run the new CVOST is definitely your best bang for the buck. Absolutely beautiful bikeand I personally see you upgrading to a new one. Probably the black one but who knows great enjoying the channel very much. Looking forward to see what you do.

I agree with 99% of what you’re saying and that CVO ST is sick. However…I can never bring myself to buy a new body style/engjne/electronics in the first or second or even third year model. Look at all the issues with the twin cam when it first came out, or the M8’s, etc. it takes a few years for all the bugs to be ironed out let’s be honest. Yes there is a warranty but that doesn’t help when your riding season is over because it needs major warranty work. Just being real. I love the new bikes, will probably have one one day, but my 2022 SG is rock solid and I’ll keep it a little while longer.

The new Indian inspired CVO hands down is a huge improvement over its predecessor. 43k though and It's still air cooled with no heated grips. The Indian Challenger Darkhorse has almost identical power, liquid cooled as oppose to air cooled, inverted front forks, Brembo brakes, a fully adjustable mono rear Fox shock, power bag locks, heated grips, power windshield, an aluminum frame making it lighter, and a $30,999 price tag. I like both bikes but for the money it's hard to argue which is the better bang for the $$$. Hope someone lines them up side by side soon so we see which one is faster.

I have to say that after your review, it’s tempting. And you nailed it with what would need to be done. I’d probably add a different cam, a different exhaust, and maybe a different set of handle bars and call it a day. With what I have in mine now, I’m almost at the cost of two of these. I feel like if I were to purchase one, it would be a quick build to perfection with just a few things. But it would be awesome to see what you’d do. I have to give it a full year and see where the aftermarket industry goes with this one. Lookin forward to it!

John, I appreciate your thoughts on the new CVO ST vs. your performance bagger build. Like you, I created a purpose-built performance bagger that fits my riding style and preferences. Mine is a 2017 CVO Street Glide. It's been a work in progress that has gone through multiple engine, suspension, ergonomic, and styling upgrades. The bike is now under 800 LBS and has a new 131ci engine with an S&S crank, SE heads, big cam, etc. It rips and handles like a dream. But I'm eyeballing the CVO ST to be my new performance platform going forward and de-tuning my current CVO to use for 2-up touring. I think H-D knocked it out of the park with the CVO ST... finally, they understand what we want.

CVO’s are for old men with money. I buy standards and build them up to my liking and my body fit. I’m 6’3 265 lbs so I need larger cockpit and extended leg room. Stock bikes are one size fits all. New body style is nice but I’ll wait and trade up. CVO isn’t so custom anymore.

That CVO ST looks so sweet (saw the black one briefly in person last weekend), but the custom jobs on the new standard are going to be ridiculous. I agree at the end of the day that just buying the CVO ST stock is the way to go if you aren’t absolutely committed to a custom design. The weight difference alone is super significant.

I’m curious what you have into your bike cost-wise vs what the new CVO goes for? On a side note… I like the fairing style on your bike better than the new style but I would still get the new style. Things “usually” change for the better and I would assume the new fairing has advantages.

Hey looks like Kyle Wyman spilled the Hp and Torq numbers on the bike. He said to the wheel. Pretty impressive. Not gunna lie you are looking pretty good on that white pearl bike lol. Wasn't a huge RG fan but it's growing on my and I love your setup man, she just looks dialed in

Personally, i’d get a standard bagger, and leave it as is. For the long haul. And for hauling ass, i’d modify the hell out of a Sportster. And have a sports bike in the stable. I’d have all the type of rides i’d want. But i have a feeling the new Buell Supercruiser will have it all for me. Have to wait and see.

I’m finally used to the new front end of the Road Glide. I really like it now. I think it will look really good with 2 white and yellow Baja designs headlights. I saw some preview pics, looks good. My next bike will be a CVO ST. I spent over $20K in parts only on my Street Glide Special. So, the CVO ST does make sense at. $43K. But, it will still need some more upgrades for sure.

I went down yesterday to buy the white ST. But no docking hardware and no easy way to add. Took the air out of my sails. How am I suppose to tour on a touring bike. I have a tour pack or could've bought RicRack like yours. I can't even put a rack on and strap a regular bag down.I did really like it. Of course I saw last years RG and after seeing the new ones, last years look so dated lol.

Anyone who’s been riding Harleys for a long time knows to be cautious when it comes to new Gen Bikes. The first three years of the M8 were not great, the early twin cams had issues as well. The name of the game has always been late model M8’s and Twin Cams. I would be reluctant to invest in a VVT M8 until I understand where the challenges are. I’m also uncertain about all the new electronics. One thing we know about electronics is that they are prone to fail. It will take at least two years for them to work that out. If I were in the market for a bike, and I wasn’t concerned about my ego, I would pick up a late model M8. It’s proven and battle-tested, and if you want modern power, you can build it up to meet or exceed what is being put out now. Personally, I’ve probably bought my last Harley for a while. I don’t believe in chasing performance on a Harley anymore. It’s like trying to train an obese person to be a gymnast. Makes. No. Sense. If you really want performance, go buy a KTM Super Duke R Evo, a Triumph Speed Triple RS, or a Ducati Streetfighter. Get a Harley to tour on and make memories with your friends. A Harley is what is it. Just my take.

anyone know the CVO St top speed? Was not a fan of my RGS, after topping out the motor with HD certified components to not break warranty, it still had a ~108mph top speed. And I was in at like 55k on that thing. I was, NOT stoked. I don’t need it to go 180 or anything, but 125-130 would be nice.

The new bikes are beautiful, no doubt. But 1st year tech always needs some time to see what issues will rear their ugly head. If the new electronics hold up, It would be a steal at the price point. Mad Max on the other hand is custom built for your style. I would give another two years until I would replace MM with the new bread of bikes.
