My issue is that they push the black out version way too much. Almost force you to get the black out finish. To me, a Harley should be loaded with chrome, and I like chrome. But it’s really hard to get chrome, almost as hard as getting spokes.

Everyone has been begging HD for upgrades to the touring bikes. Here you go nice changes. I rode a cvo that had the 117 and you could feel the extra power over the 114. Not everyone is a fan, but I love the new cvo bikes, waiting to see what cvo limited they come out with, hopefully the Road glide limited cvo😅

I honestly think they put the ball back in Polaris’ court to do something to jump back ahead. Indian really hasn’t moved forward the past couple years so I think it’s on them again to pull something out.

Of course you need to upgrade, we love giving you reasons to upgrade, before and after the purchase. In fact we have huge plans to add a few baubles and go slightly fast dangly bits over the next few years so you can continue to upgrade your ride. In 2027 you won't believe the what we have planned for your upgrading pleasure. I will be long gone by then, thanks for your continued upgrading support. Jochen

Your review is so much more pertinent to me than most. You have first hand experienced with the Indian Challenger and lets just be honest, Its been the bench mark for American performance baggers since 2020. I've been on Indians since 2017 but with these new changes HD has made I will make my way back into a HD dealership this summer once the hype and prices has settled. I love the fact they are water cooled!

They don't have stage kits for the 117 yet. You mentioned nothing about the VVT. Are we going to be able to put cams in these? That could be a con.

Curious if the new RG comes with either a .338 Lapua Magnum or 6.5 Creedmoor trim package 🤣. Looks like a nice bike for the younger / new generation folks that like gizmos & gadgets, but I prefer my 16’ FLTRUSE (lots of chrome and manual gauges). Good review - thanks.

I would still go for a the Challenger if I was you but of course I am not. I had 7 Harley and my last one was a 2022 Street Glide special with a stage 2 and a dyno however my 2023 Challenger outperformed and outmanoeuvred the Harley. Yes they made change witch is good and I want to see them but still not enough for me but to each is own.

Dude. The price reduction to 25k is hige to me. Better suspension, stalwart 117", new fairing and lights for about 5k less tgan the outgoing model. Right on HD. I kinda want that non VVT in the Road Glide ST to be in the regular Road Glide. 127 hp and 145 lb ft. This is where i need to be!

Best invest is the 117 engine Road Glide. You can upgrade it with better parts than CVO ST.. Ohlins suspension better from OEM Showa ( is not race special Showa edition - like Ohlins or similar other brand). Engine upgrades - stages from several companies much better from OEM Screaming Eagle...lots of us know SE isn't offer true performance parts. Audio system from Volunteers Audio, huge improvement from any stage of Rokford. Exhausts from other companies for better sound, torque & horsepower or beautiness... Only CVO ST, brakes & the inverted fork (still needs upgrade with ohlins springs ) are good... =================================== Why limit your choices to 1 expensive model with mediocre components? ==================================== And what is the gain? 15 - 20 horses? These numbers are to the crank...at the back wheel are around true 115.. 😂😂😂...121 High Output myas... Marketing tricks, don't be fooled....be smart & choose the right one.. Unless you're rich & get the CVO ST...throw exhaust, suspension, SE parts of engine & free the 121 engine potential power. Although, the difference of money between CVO ST & Road Glide can be invested for parts. Result would be far better from any CVO... Even if the cost exceeds the amount of initial ST price, you will have a unique bike with tons of hp, torgue & handling.. CVO ST is just a Road Glide with Screaming Eagle parts.. Showa is a OEM plain suspension.. For my Road Glide i would not spent money to SE.... There are better companies specialized for any need & wish.

Honestly bro the bike looks great all around, brakes, suspension, motor setup. I'm more interested in seeing how they do reliability wise and serviceability. Because for the price it better be a tank of a bike . I'm used to Japanese motorcycles and those are standards I expect to have if I pay a premium for any type of vehicle

Great Opinion Review !! It seams that is a common theme between the RG G SG / not considering the ST or CBO for Final analysis, I do agree the RG has a much better looking front and the S.Bags good on being wider, and the lights that a cool touch on the back 👍 , perfect for adding a custom personalized system. Over all I like this 117, now is left to be known how reliable are the electronics, not much is said about them hence there are somewhat new, one thing I notice was the tray in the SG. Really love how rhey set that up, awesome 👍 on the part of H.D. Yra would like to know that about the regular street riding heat system dissipation how that works out for you. The color are beautiful, but one thing that is not thete is the personal choosing of color and or color design by HD. If I have the Money and would pay fot it why not offend to people for a special one of akind colors confirmation how about it Harley Davidson..??? IMHO. 👏👏👍‼️😎🤙

Nice review! I'm happy the 2024 Limited is unchanged. I'm no a fan of the new fairing or guages..... But I could get used to them over time for sure. Harley Davidson is the only non-tupperware motorcycle remaining and it's a shame to see designers headed in that direction.

Tell us more about the 16 lbs weight savings. You mentioned they now use a lighter gauge steel on the gas tank. Have they also substituted plastic in other areas instead of steel? What's the weight savings of using a full digital display instead of actual gauges?

Yeah... the ST CVO and the main CVO come with the mapping stuff... but after three years, you gotta pay to renew it. It's not lifetime. I'm buying a new RG... I'll just use my iPhone on the handlebars for mapping... that way will always have the most CURRENT map to use... not worrying about getting an update that really isn't all that updated.

Better, how? Mind you, the challenger is now 4 years old. HD still doesn't offer, mono rear shock, adjustable windscreen, remote lockable saddle bags. If they are trying to catch the challenger, they are still behind. Same old bike with the same old frame. Now, show me a HD 117 after 50-60,000 miles and then compare to a challenger.

  • @TheDankh

@@HegshotRides That's an opinion though - A stock Challenger with a tune will still demolish the new 117 WITH High Lift Race Cams, Intake Manifold, 2-1 Exhaust, Intake and dyno tune. A Harley has to have about 145hp/145tq to keep up with a 115hp/125tq Challenger. Now, if outright drag performance isn't being considered... I think Harley has more going for it, especially with aftermarket options.

Good review. I just got a White Onyx Pearl RG in chrome trim. (I have a Tour-Pak on the way as well). Like you, I’m not overly fond of the wheels. The air intake isn’t all that good looking either. And those flip up doors are kind of flimsy feeling… So far, that’s all I can complain about. I was cool on the new fairings when I saw them last year on the CVO’s, but the new shark nose has really grown on me. And, I’m a techno-geek.. just loving that new display. 😊
