I was relieved to see them breaking the glass in a water bath. Silica dust is a killer.

I think that water bath was to remove dirt and some impurities which might mess up the glass. The glass isn't really broken after the bath. The label materials were also somewhat removed, but those will burn off when heated. The pulverizing part was not shown. I assume there may have been some sorting of the waste bottles by color before melting.

They at least reuse glasses instead of keeping them as garbage elsewhere
