How General Authorities Eat Their Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

After being hounded by friends and family to make this video, I finally succumbed. The photos are from lds.org and the script comes from
www.mormonmomma...
P.S. If you're not LDS, you should go to mormon.org to listen to how these guys actually talk so you can see just how good these impressions are!

You forgot about Pres. Eyring - "As you place the peanut butter cup into your mouth, you will begin to get a taste of the chocolate on your tongue. This savory chocolate flavor will motivate you to bite further into the creamy peanut butter center. You will feel the urge to chew and savor the mixture of chocolate and peanut butter in your mouth as you continue to take further bites with the rest of the cup. This pattern will stay with you throughout your life." :-D

"If you are unsure of how to eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, ask the missionaries. They can help you." - Elder Nelson

  • @cacophonycabal8378

Elder Bednar: I pray that the Spirit conveys the thoughts and words of which I have prepared. In the Spring of 2006, I had the distinct privilege of addressing BYU Idaho Alumni & faculty. It was in the midst of this environment that I received a clear, unmistakable impression to consume a Reese's peanut butter cup. I immediately paused from my key note address and did so. What followed afterward was serendipitous and divinely merciful....the cup afforded me with fortitude; the wrapper imbued me with eternal gratitude....and the melting in the mouth of this extraordinary morsel of chocolate and peanut butter endowed me with spiritual enlightenment as only consistent, steady consumption of peanut butter cups can do. In the end, great spiritual traction culminates as the cup goes from a meager lump of chocolate to an elegant, elaborate conjoining of both chocolate and peanut butter--this parable of the peanut butter cup illustrates how we too can become spiritually metamorphosised.

Greg, you did all the voices sir?! That was simply fantastic, especially the impressions of Elders Packer and Scott, and President Monson!!! And to everyone worried about sacrilege; by definition, it is irreverence towards that which is sacred. Greg hasn't taken a sacred topic and blasphemed it, he is simply sharing his talent of mimicking voices. He took a general topic to do it with, and even more amazing, talked about said topic after the mannerisms of those portrayed, and did so w/ respect.

“The morning breaks; the shadows flee;. Lo, my Reese's wrapper is unfurled!" -- (A bad version of Elder McConkie). Through the years young Elders have used such deliveries as their own sort of Memes. We all use cultural 'pull quotes' to liven things up and create a sort of communal belonging. By warmly using these we all share the same image of a much larger subject. If I use just one word, "Mawrrage", almost everyone here will recognize it and start to chuckle. On the other hand, familiarity breeds contempt. By becoming overly casual the line over which mocking may be crossed. Youth speakers particularly find themselves in this situation constantly; connecting with youth can lead to mocking. I for one don't think this crosses any line, but it could encourage others to one-up Greg. That's the way life has always been. In the end, we all decide for ourselves.

I make no lie when I say. I am a huge Anti-Mormon . And watch BYUTV regularly. And all of the LDS leaders in this video are very familiar to me. What you Mormons lack in truth. You make up in your sense of humor. I will give you Mormons credit for that. The voice impersonations was spot on . And a very funny video.

I remember the script from 20 years ago--but you sure do have the voices down. Good job! All are great but I love Elder Scott pleading with us to try the cup. LOL!

    1. The impression of president Uchdorf: A. Practice the way Deiter puts surprise yelling into his talks. 2. The impression of elder Oaks: B+. Started off good. Practice this one some more as it has potential 3. The impression of Elder Wirthlin: A for quality but D for tastelessness since he's dead 4. of Scott: A. 5. The impression of Packer: A+++, extra credit given 4 content in your impression 6. The impression of President Monson: A+, voice inflections and content were NAILED.

The best part is that next General Conference, everyone who has seen this video will be constantly reminded of it. Kinda takes the veneer off the hallowed words of the Lords Anointed. Well done video!! Please do some more!!

That was hilarious. Extremely well done. From the desert news: President Gordon B. Hinckley was serious about humor. "We need to have a little humor in our lives," he said in a Church News interview in September 1995. "We better take seriously that which should be taken seriously, but at the same time we can bring in a touch of humor now and again. If the time ever comes when we can't smile at ourselves, it will be a sad time."

This person has obviously watched a lot of conference talks. To get the inflection of their voices, their speech patterns and word choices so spot on was fantastic!! The General Authorities tease each other and tell stories about each other during conference talks sometimes. It's all in good fun.

Half of his impressions actually taught you a valuable lesson that the corresponding apostle is known for... he just did so through the use of a single object, a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.
