How fast will it go? | BikeSocial Busa Bonanza
Take fifty #suzuki #hayabusa #motorcycles , add a 1.8-mile runway and a set of timing lights. What could possibly go wrong? Welcome to the Bennetts BikeSocial Busa Bonanza...
In association with Suzuki GB, we invited our Hayabusa-owning BikeSocial Members customers to Elvington airfield and give them a chance to see how fast their bike would go. With a raft of tuned, turbo’d, big-bored, supercharged and some squirted with nitrous also on show, it turned into quite the event!
We even had Eddie 'The Beast' Hall, Chrisitan Iddon and Danny Webb along for a try.

We did over 6200 miles touring our '99 Hayabusa through mainland Greece (and some islands) and almost entire land of Turkey. Full luggage system and my wife as passenger. Such a awesome and versatile motorcycle. Soon the bike will reach the 62500 milestone and not a sinle problem with it.

Great post!👍 Watching it, it became finally clear to me how special fast bike riding is, living in Germany and having an unlimited Autobahn just around the corner, going speeds north of 250kmh just as “normal”… keep it going!

The problem is, that isn´t true! ;) Unlimited? Almost died here in germany! There are only a very frew unlimited Roads, the most are limited and in baaaaaaad conditions. I have to ride almost 50 Kilometers before i reach a open Autobahn. 20 Kilometers later....limited. Yeaaahhhhh.....Its not really fun anymore, and you risk your licence every ride.
19 seconds, to 260mph, wow. Impressive, an then some 👍
I love this sort of a ride day ... please bring on the Fireblades, the Panigales, the Kwikazfukis, etc
Eddie would have gone faster but he was dehydrated!🤣
Listening to everyone speaking about the passion they put into all this made me a lil emotional lol picking up my new busa tomorrow cheers everyone
Didn't see that coming with Eddie on a bike, would ride out with Eddie any day.
Make it a yearly event, and I'll tour my bike over from Norway and have a run at it.

This was awesome. 650hp Busa ??!! And I totally agree with Eddie on the vortex. When it approaches 7 grand time seems to stop around you 🤣. Great video Cheers
I remember when the busa came out. Most people in our club had hit 120-140mph on their different bikes then a club friend who was a journo bought one of the press bikes round for us to see what we thought. Suddenly those top speeds became known as "3rd". It was amazing how it could ride very similar to a CBR600 (of the time) yet have so much grunt everywhere. Pulling away at tickover - no problem. Ragging it to the limiter - no problem. They have always been a really sweet road bike and when I got the chance I got my ultimate gen-1 (RZ, run out year). Its the longest I've ever owned a bike and I have no plans to sell anytime soon. I have other bikes for different things but the busa is just brilliant at going very quickly without making a massive fuss of it.
Great post! Didn't expect to get reeled into it all, but couldn't stop watching. Great fun, it must've been!
Looks like fun. I can't imagine those speeds. I have had 140 mph (indicated speed) on my elderly Honda VTR 1000 on the 1 km straight of the Almería circuit in Spain. Trackdays are fun too.

Very, very good coverage of the recent Busa Bonanza. I'm keeping everything crossed for a competitive quote from Bennetts (to arrive in mere days now) to insure my Blackbird for another year. This won't get me in on any Hayabusa event of course, but lots of fantastic offers to BikeSocial members. How'bout a cheap speed day: bikes up to £1000, £2000 etc. Just bought a CBR1000 (£400) but might need a few quid spent on it. Advise breakdown recovery & a few mops for the blow ups. Oh yeah rode a Busa when they first came out. Wat a bike innit.

Should do it with all those 185mph zx6r owners on facebook marketplace 😂😂😂
Watching Hayabusa topic is love to watch king of speed
I love the Hyabusa but also wonder at it’s relevance on the UK roads of today. Like almost all of the hyper sports bikes it’s the temptation to open the throttle which makes these such a risk to the licence! I would love one as a touring bike though. Performance hasn’t really got massively better today for hyperbikes compared with 20 years ago but costs and technical complexity has grown out of all proportion. The fastest speeds I did were on the IoM on 20 year old bikes, albeit not in standard trim. 155 on a brutally grunty aprilia rsv mille over the mountain and the big surprise as on a dyno tuned Honda fireblade RRT foxeye at an indicated 168mph. That felt insane! Modern bikes do get there quicker and do feel more stable but terminal speeds all feel insane once crossing 140mph upwards. Lots of pub heros used to claim silly speeds on their superbikes but the island soon taught me that most of this was pub talk . It is great to see this event and what a super idea! I’d love to see a “run what you brung” event there for open class bikes of all descriptions.
@nyedavis922

You're certainly not wrong regarding the risk to license. I absolutely loved my gen 2 busa, but lacked the maturity to restrain myself on the road at all times. 197bhp (crank) is difficult to resist when you're presented with an open road and unfortunately afforded me 6 points. My fault entirely but I'd rather not have the temptation anymore 😂
What a great fun event ! Big Eddie Hall will have a devil of a job tucking in 🙂

Nice event, I'd really like to come over from Germany and join one of the future Bonanzas. When I hear the speeds most Busa riders are used to, I always wonder why take the effort to buy such a bike in a country with speed limits? In Germany I can go flat out every day I wish to, so going top speed is not really unusual for me. I think, if I had to cut it at 50% I'd chose another bike like my Gasgas 700 SM. Keep on ridin'!

Love Eddie Hall! Friggin funny SOB!
there are a lot of bikes you should ride at least once, the gsxr 1100, the honda blackbird, yamaha fj1200, all the literbikes from every maker, euro the works, any new 1000 or so.. an experience you will never forget specially if you find a nice long straight away and pack it out in 6th, I recommend the salt flats for non riders, a controlled course, its the same experience, it doesn't change much sensation wise, you still get the adrenaline and really feel what its like to go 200mph on two wheels, most all the bikes I listed will get very close and do 200+ with bolt on's. also its a HUGE difference doing 200 whatever with your hands on the bars than it is a passenger, not near as scary cuz you have control, so if you;re a non rider learn how to ride, on salt flats you don't need to be highly skilled but it helps and don't try it unless conditions are optimal fora non rider, any track person, tech or timer will know these conditions, no need to risk it, big headwinds, side winds, rain and such are bad conditions, best is a tail wind . . .

Std Gen II is rated at 197 BHP so your comment of the Gen III having more power is incorrect

The 197 figure is a claimed at the crank figure for the gen 2, but if you a tually measure what power is made at the wheel, it will be 170 to 178 hp. Simon's gen 3 made a real 182 hp at the wheel on a dyno, which is more than the gen 2 made - standard v standard.
