@@mattm1841 this! Skatepark durability tests are a waste of time and not a good indicator as to how good an RC car is. So many factors to consider.. landing on concrete and blaming the car is not the way to do it and is one way to ruin a brands reputation forever. Those videos get views which is why they are done and no other reason. I stopped all that last year and won’t be returning to a skatepark any time soon. Obviously people know who to watch if that’s what they are into and I think it’s more appealing to the younger generation. Doesn’t teach kids to respect their stuff either when potentially parents have spent a fortune on the latest rc car just to be smashed to bits 5 mins into a bash at a skatepark. Anyway.. each to their own haha!

It will be interesting to take it out in warm weather. I think it would definitely need a gear change to reach the high speed, It's always cool to see how the tires balloon on the onboard camera shots. You might've mentioned this in the first video. 2:10 temp definitely makes a difference. The air is denser at colder temps which creates more wind resistance. In internal combustion engines it kind of negates itself as the denser air = more resistance it also means more HP and better performance out of the engine.

@ Tomley - Given that this buggy is a full 680g lighter than the Kronos XTR, it's safe to assume that given the same electronics, battery and ratios/rollout etc - it will accelerate quicker and hit higher top speeds than the Kronos. Using the exact setup you have there on my Kronos XTR - 825 motor on 6S - mine hit 62 mph and 0-60mph in 4.2 secs. This was during the summer and the track temp was 30°C, using stock pinion and spur. I conclude that Corally's box claim is definitely in the ballpark and fair. The reasons they state for different results are justified, as your effort amply demonstrates! Your results were on the slow side of normal though. Are you sure those cells are OK? Or is your ESC set to low or something? 🤔 Very odd otherwise. First of all I love your content. I find it unfair for everyone to bash on speed claims when every battery gives different performance so unless you have a speed run battery then you can’t say it doesn’t do the claimed speeds on the box because you’re using a generic battery not up the task. The 6s Voltz 4800mAh 50c Lipo on paper can deliver 240Amps.. The Kuron Motor has a max continuous current of 120A, so the Voltz lipo would have to be only 50% efficient to max out the motor. Did you install the speed gear? If not, why would you say it can't do 65 mph+? I have one that's been in the box for almost 2 weeks..but if they advertise the speeds and it won't do it, I understand. But if you decided to "not install" the speed gear but then state you don't think it will do it, it's like why..Why criticize TC when you didn't follow instructions. Thx for the video.

Take yours out the box and tell me where the ‘speed gears’ are. You may be disappointed to find that it doesn’t come with any other gearing 👍

love the pragmatic review. but I do agree. don't put speed on the box unless when you take out of the box it comes close to that speed under certain conditions. i.e will do x amount of speed in the temp range of 5 degrees on a dry tarmac. otherwise it leave the door wide open for those who want to blame the equipment rather the conditions is driven in and driving skills + battery efficiencies.

They should put 50mph on the box then when it does 55 you are over performing. Like Scotty telling Kirk it will take 4hrs to repair the warp engines and does ti in 3

Considering how nuts the Kronos XTR is with the same gearing and electronics I'm surprised it's only getting 88kph, well go all out, biggest pinion you can fit with stock everything is 19t, see what that gets😆🤘 I'll have to speed test mine with the low 1550kv motor and 18t pinion, see if it gets close to box speed🤔

Speed isn't what they claim? Oh, my, the end of the world...lol...jk. Seriously, I didn't expect it to reach what they claim (out of the box). At least, when Traxxas prints (unbelievable) "top speed" info, they include a "when fitted with the 'speed' pinion".

I don't get the point of 6s rc cars. My Big Rock does that top speed. Albeit I have put a 17 tooth pinion in it but that's on 3s. It takes absolute beating to especially with a few cheap upgrades like rpm arms. Also a lot cheaper to buy and run than 6s.

  • @TomleyRC

Bigger motors with a lower KV… so increased torque. And because they are a lower KV they need more Voltage to get the RPM’s

@@TomleyRC I see that. But in reality what's the real point of 6s? They are not any faster or tougher. They cost more to buy and cost more to maintain. Kinda reminds me of a Swiss watch vs a quartz. They don't tell the time any better and cost more to buy and service. Is it just kudos and likes?

Now imagine the issue when actual car manufacturers make false and inflated claims about the performance of their vehicles? (see Dodge Demon. To get their claims it has to be at x temp, with slicks, and on a prepped strip, at x sea level with x driver and blah blah blah)

  • @TomleyRC

Yes… this Porsche will do 210mph…. but you need the optional gearbox and race fuel… and a driver that weighs under 200lb. I think that Dodge didn’t even do it with all the boxes ticked lol
