How fast is a white-tailed deer? | Candid Animal Cam

Ғылым және технология

A white-tailed deer is a medium-sized mammal that lives in all of the Americas, from Canada to Peru and Bolivia in the south. This footage was taken in South Dakota in the United States.

Personal experience. I think they should really test how fast they can get too. Down hill white tails can go faster than 50 km. I was doing 80 on a dirt road and I had one keeping up with me trying to cross but I wasn't letting it get ahead of me.

Deer can run about 45 miles per hour for a short distance

Awsome job! *But sprinting speed of 48Kmh/30Mph is CONSERVATIVE.. the lower the body to the ground, the faster they are running.. My (wild)doe Zoe hit WAY over that 2 nights ago chasing her buck yearling off, (like a pair of squirrels) she was running fast & low, not the usual bounding "flagging escape" speed.. fastest you will see a deer run is when their "TERMINATOR-[slow]-walk turns into a charge from 10 feet out..and the "threat" bolts to a sprint..terrifying to know my sweet 5 yr old momma doe can go from "0-Jackie Chan mode" with such agility and speeds in excess of OVER 80Kmh/50Mph.. While continuously cornering & outflanking, she kept above 65Kmh/40Mph..HERDING FASTER THAN A DOG OR CUTTING HORSE! Was not first time I have seen her sprint, she's hell on hooves if she feels the need.. To be embedded w/wild deer as an individual trusted family associate, being welcomed behind the family "line" as Momma holds the line is ..educational..to say the least. After 33yrs studying semiotics & learning language of crows, 20+yrs w/whitetail deer, 5yrs of being novel associate to them, I have learned that reality enlightens us every day, & it's worth it! Deer are amazing animals in their natural environment, amazing how close they are to us on a daily basis, moving like ninjas, monitoring us, exploiting routines and human encroachment.. teaching a mother how to be street smart, to see taught down lineage & improved upon..watching a doe stop her young, calmly clear a crossing, then lead calmly across, all in unison, under a streetlight, unhurriedly on slippery asphalt.. and see passed down.. being able to recognize deer family by behaviors..priceless! We have become better humans when we become accepted by wildlife by no persuasion of our own, solely respect & acknowledgement.. To be welcomed by being "parked" with fawns as trusted monitor, & predator deterrence, or being greeted w/grattitude, for a deer to bed down, ruminate for an hour, then feel safe enough to sleep within 5 feet of you..🤯 then get up & groom you..amazing interaction.. (return favor by grooming head & shoulders where they can't reach!) May we all learn more!

Yea that's what I was thinking. Back when I hunted we'd be chasing down a group of deer in the truck and we'd be going well over 50 sometimes and barely be creeping by going a little faster than them. No chance they were going anything under 45 there. Granted they don't always run that speed, when they want to they definitely can. I only even saw this video because I was googling their max speed and saw 30mph and thought "no way in hell that's right" then clicked this video thinking it'd give a more realistic number.

@@colecampbell1906 Oh ya, people know bears can run 30+ mph.. 10 mph faster than a speedy sprinting human..deer usually will just split & bound, but they sure can "haul donkey"🤣👍

But humans can create things with their powerful brains, their gift from the Creator (God), to reach much much higher speeds than a deer! 😩😏 Humans rule! Go humans. I know you're thinking "Without our inventions, we're useless", but so will animals, if animals lose their abilities, they'd be useless too. There's nothing wrong with humans wanting to have fun. A deer has limited running speed just like humans, they aren't special, a car isn't limited to the 2 digits. No human or animal can run 100mph.... can't even run 70, 80, or 90mph. Plus, just think about it, our very fast vehicles, easy meals for predators....you know, the deer gets hit by a vehicle moving much faster than them and before you know it, the deer is dead and another animal comes along to start eating the deer, yes, human inventions serve a great purpose for one of those reasons. A deer can't run that fast, so they get hit and sometimes injured (most of the time they get hurt, I'm sure), imagine a fast train. I guess you guys are glad we don't have bullet trains in the USA or these deer will really be in trouble, animals feel like they are faster than everything, I guess nature programmed them (animals) to feel that way. This is my opinion, I don't think deer or any animal is amazing when running....we are all limited beings, not just humans. When will I evolve to reach speeds way faster than deer, oh I'd have a field day, looking back as they disappear from my sight!!!! 😂😁

But wouldn't it be great to run way faster than they can? Of course, they don't have unlimited speed!!!! They're not amazing! There are insects that can run much faster speeds, I even have a made up animal that can run way faster than deer and pronghorn, and plenty of stamina to chase them down and kill them (🦌), the fictional creature runs 90 mph, it's called a Mile 😺....I say insects are some of the luckiest beings ever, and if airplanes, jets, motorcycles, cars, bullet trains, passenger trains, vans, pick-up trucks, and helicopters were alive, they'd be lucky as well! I would love to run speeds that go above a deer! I'm not saying humans are slow, because we aren't at all, I just don't want to have limited speed like humans and animals do! Animals feel like they don't have limited speed, it's so annoying, like they aren't going to run any faster! Like I said, if anybody deserves the trophy 🏆, it's insects 🐝, shoo, I learned if certain insects were human sized, they'd be able to run even faster speeds, way faster than deer and pronghorn! And the winner isn't deer! Insects can reach speeds that deer can't reach, insects are truly gifted just like humans, but we build fast objects, insects can go very fast with their own bodies, which is still unique!

Why should humans have to build super fast machines, when I should be able to just run as fast as I want (not too fast, of course, like 118 or 122 mph, those are still super fast speeds, but it's much safer than 160, 180 or 200, 400), you guys know good and well that you want to run super fast, leaving the deer behind! I don't want limited speed like humans and animals, I want to be free to skip, hop at a decent mph! No I'm not jealous, why would I be lol, when I literally have an imagination and a brain 🧠 to even 🤔 think about this stuff, I even have human inventions to enjoy, deer don't have this!

Nope! Humans are still the best. We can invent airplanes, jets, bullet trains, cars and helicopters to go way beyond what humans and animals are to limited to, it doesn't matter if these aren't living creatures, but they don't have to be to be amazing....they are still very fast objects. 50mph, 60mph isn't even fast tbh. A deer is limited to 50mph, a jet can go up in the thousands. Why would I want to be a slow deer, when I could be a fast machine???? I'm dead serious!!!!!!
