    Since there's no fish in the tank it won't grow without feet as there's no ammonia

    First thanks for this video. Helped me a lot in learning more about Java moss. Just wondering if you've used co2 in this setup? I added Java moss to a driftwood about a week ago and it currently showing to be turning brown? I don't have co2 as this is a low tech tank but has good flow and temp.

  • @AquaViva1

    @AquaViva1

    No I didn't use CO2, java moss is very very low tech and doesn't need co2. If yours is turning brown the common reasons are usually the water is too warm or else you have been sold a terrestrial moss instead of java moss. Usually if it is java moss it will recover after turning brown, so be patient! Thanks for watching.

    I've just received my java moss i was going to use it as a carpet for the tank but thought it would look good in a bonsai wood tree. Glad to see it will thicken up over time. Does anyone know of any good carpet plants for the base of my tank?

    @@colincarrington4629 no tips hahaha it tends to spread alongside each other. so, if you're in a tight budget, just buy a few and then split it into 3 or 4 and plant anywhere you want. as for maintenance, trim the height depends on your taste. some people like it short, some like it a lil bit taller. Monte Carlo also is a good carpet tho.

    I bought Java moss on coconuts shell from Petsmart, and it was dry and brown and look dead. I trust the store, and thought it is alive and will revive. Yet, It has been over 3 months, and nothing happened -- it still remains brown -- and I wonder the plant was dead already when I bought it from the store and it will never revive and turn green and grow.

    @@AquaViva1 in this case i'd use a small power head to create a flow, and I think it's better because it doesnt release as much co2 from the water as regular air stone
