    High prices for everything have severely affected my plan. I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now. The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before.

    It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of investing in the stock market and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.

    Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

    Good for you. My t.v. was gifted by the girlfriend or I would not have one. Previously, when I had a t.v., I pulled the plug after an earthquake. Off for two years. I purchased Spectrum. The t.v. rate was too high. Bought a roku device for $35 and got rid of Spectrum t.v. No monthly charges. Hey, if people to pay more than you or me, fine, but they shouldn't waste their lives complaining about subscription fees.

Our government has so mismanaged the money that my grandson may never enjoy the quality of life that I enjoyed or that he currently enjoys. So true. I have cut back on everything, food, cable, transportation, insurance and no longer go out for entertainment. I am paying almost $1000 a month more for things now than in 2019. Bidenomics is killing the middle class. Retirement is no longer in my plans. I will be working until I die. I planned well but wasn't expecting this disaster of an economy.

  • @bdcochran01

    @bdcochran01

    28 күн бұрын

    I ran the numbers. $1000 in 2019 equivalent today is $1260. I was not happy with closing down the economy - and I had the background to know it was a bad idea. I didn't like the stimulus checks, federal and California. I pay taxes and people who never pay taxes received money that I had paid the governments. Still, I don't believe the term "Bideneconomics" is the culprit. The culprits are people who accept the concept that you get something for nothing and no one suffers. The culprits are the people who cheerfully vote for politicians who lie because politicians know that people aren't realistic. I am not the brightest crayon in the box. However, many years ago, I knew that no one was going to care of me or do the right thing volunarily. Remembrances. I remember when "Wonder bread" was a premium bread and cost 15 cents a loaf. I remember 2 cent cokes at the PX with a 1 cent deposit. I remember being paid 25 cents an hour. I live on a block of tract houses in the 1950s. The guy next door was offered $2,100,00 for his teardown home two years ago. I could not afford to move onto my block. The only I am here is because I lived within my means. If people listen to Dan's advice, they would be ahead.

    These are the days predicted in the Bible. Do you not know that? All WE can do as believers is to help who we can, pray, be wise in financial matters (don’t live above your means. Need vs. want) and KNOW that you don’t have to be afraid or fret. I just live like I said here and trust God, because even if the worse happens to me, I know whose I am. I am not afraid! And neither should you be either. All I hear on all these channels is Christians in fear! Whose report will you believe? The Bible says to TRUST GOD! My suggestion: read or re-read the story of Joseph and what happened to him and what HIS outcome was. Selah.

I found out that a single Mom about 5 minutes away from me lost her job. She has 2 children. A family member came to me crying telling me she had no food & was going to be evicted. This is now in my backyard. My heart breaks for our country & we can help other countries when the American people are suffering. God blessed this single Mom. I talked to her. She was in tears. Free stuff to cut costs: Get rid of Cable TV, just keep internet. Put up an antenna to get old-style over the air television from the big broadcasters (NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, UNI, TELE, etc). @@admtahoe I’m not talking about small business owners. An example of what I expressed that comes to mind is the Walton family of the Walmart fortune. They all inherited their wealth and currently sit on a fortune in the hundreds of billions while taxpayers continue to fund their underpaid employees food stamps. Shareholders stock has nearly doubled in the last 5 years while the federal minimum wage has remain unchanged at a pitiful $7.25 and employees who actually run the stores have seen little to no benefit. Maybe instead of realizing a 100% gain for sitting on a piece of paper while doing next to nothing, shareholders and owners could take a 50% gain while profit sharing with the people whose blood and sweat they owe their disproportionate fortunes to.

    Re budgeting: I simply assume costs are going to be 20% higher this year than in 2023. I know some expenses can be cut. But the killer is a major repair or maintenance issue on the house or car. These can easily be 5 digits which wipe out a significant amount of savings. Getting my roof done last year was an example. Now that I CAN get insurance, (my aging roof is why they cancelled me) I am skipping it anyway. As a matter of fact, insurance should never have been made to pay for damages done due to neglect. But because it has been abused, the insurance business model no longer works.

    I haven't watched this video in its entirety yet because I'm compelled to thank you for all of your advice. You've kept us informed with news that one might not necessarily hear about in other podcasts or videos on KZread. I'm a California expat who moved out of state and has moved back a few times because I miss my homeland. With that said I absolutely love Arizona, and we WILL take California back. God bless you and your family. Thank you!

    For everybody. you do not want to use the HD antennas, you want to use the old school antennas the bigger the better. the TV signals even though it's digital still needs a big antenna to be picked up. the HD antennas are a scam.

    A big analog antenna won't do anything for you. You need a digital antenna or a analog to digital converter. Most people's problem is they need to get the antenna up high instead of just sitting it in their living room.

    I contacted the City Of Benicia and they said that I could get a senior citizens discount on my garbage through Allied Republic, so I went down to the City Hall with my drivers license filled out a form which was short. I verified my age with my drivers license and my address. I called the garbage company and set it all up now I’m paying substantially less for my garbage service.

    My thought go out to young families raising kids right now. I raised 5kids and all grown and have job now but, when they were in school, extra activity such as football, cheer, basketball marching band, track etc was killing me. I.m grad that days are over and starting to prepare retirement right now.I know many parents are struggling and I just wishing the best for them. 🙏

    Farming food for yourself and the up coming food shortages of friends, family and others might be the smart way to survive this madness. Food, clothing and shelter are necessities for life.

    Yes. The rolling layoff was a thing in 2010. Japanese company would retain skilled workers by having such a scheme. 2 weeks off and back to work when urgently needed.
