the obvious problem with this England team is that nobody is trying to run in behind and stretch the field creating pockets for Bellingham and Foden to operate in. The one time Rice went beyond Saka - Saka cut inside and scored. Kane has to play as a box predator and not a false 9

Every time I watch Kane sit in the penalty area like prime Aguero I just laugh because for such a complete player you legitimately couldn’t use him any more poorly. It’s like Southgate never watched him play before

Spain winning this tournament will be a great run. Beating Italy, Croatia,Germany, France etc

Why is it that Saka and Rice don’t take corners??? Arsenal was the best corner team in the prem last season and rice and saka took them, I know Saiba and Gabriel is better than England defenders but these set pieces right now are awful at least give them a chance

I agree it’s not plausible for England to play liquid tactical football and blow teams away but England is beyond boring to watch I struggle to make it past 60 mins of them. I am a neutral which could be a factor but I enjoy Spain, Germany etc. France are also horrible to watch. At the end of the day football is supposed to be entertaining

Can’t wait for the day Kane retires and Englands attack (likely still under Southgate) crumbles because he’s the heart and soul of it. As a neutral it’s unbelievable to me how disrespected he is among his nations fans, I must be watching different matches to everyone else lol

As a Liverpool fan I think zirkzee and de ligt are probably going to be the bargain of the transfer window both 23/24 and still have room for growth . I don’t know how United are pulling this off . Both player have CL at their respected clubs and are leaving for United and de ligt is taking a pay cut

The Dutch connection (and the more personal one for De Ligt) would be my guess. Zirkzee surprises me because he'd be moving without a guaranteed starting place

@SeekrofTruth25 because it makes no difference now, he didn't pick anyone else and that's it. Apart from gomez who there should be stronger shouts for tbf.

Zirkzee and De Ligt are astute signing for their price points but lets be real, they are floor raisers, not ceiling raisers. There's nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is.

Have to disagree with that. De ligt problem at bayern has just been injuries and them then signing a load of cbs to cover, but he's still top. Wouldn't say zirkzee is a 'floor raiser' either, he'll provide an entirely different option that gives us more tactical flexibility. We had a massive lack of players last season to completely change the way we play within a game, he'll allow us to do that. Won't score tonnes but will allow our wingers to score and even as a 2 with hojlund

@@mitchellbrough1615 tbh, the name of De Ligt has always been better than the actual player. He hasn't been as good since his Ajax days. Zirkzee is exciting option but don't think he's better than Hojlund and again, both good options but not really raising the current ceiling of the squad.

I would love to see this: Pickford Konsa Stones Guehi Saka Shaw Rice Bellingham Palmer Foden Kane Kane staying high. Bellingham with a licence to get into the box. Palmer and Foden playing little passes, buzzing around. Then bring on Eze, Toney, Walker later on to add some physical pace and power after we’ve passed them into submission.

It's weird isn't it. England and France are in the semi-final but it doesn't feel like it. Maybe this boring football is the only way to be successful in international football. I just hope its Spain vs Netherlands in the final.
