    Inspirational documentary! The reason Hirohito was spared was because the USA needed him to keep the Japanese people behind the post war occupation and rebuilding plan. Without allowing Japan to keep its emperor the more pro-continuation of war factions in their military would likely have started a guerilla war with the US occupation forces. But ending the war by nuclear means isn’t acceptable
