How Dry Erase Boards Are Made | How It's Made | Science Channel

Ойын-сауық

The nonporous surface of a dry erase board combined with the dry erase ink of the markers is why you're about to wipe the board clean. White, green or black - dry erase boards can be made in several colors. White boards are typically preferred in classrooms because they can double as a projection board.

Fun fact: dry erase ink can erase Sharpie ink. It may need a few tries to completely remove the Sharpie, but it works.

Dry erase and sharpie ink are the same but the dry erase also has a solvent. This solvent can dry off which is why old dry erase ink gets stuck. You can buy this solvent in spray form which is usually used to clean these boards. The solvent is usually 90% isopropyl alcohol and 10% water.

Everyone has hand sanitiser laying around now... That does it great... I know because at work the cleaners went round during covid and cleaned all of the numbering off the damn fire extinguishers.

My dad was a manager back in 1967. One of the walls in his office was entirely white board. I drew flowers on the bottom edge which he kept for weeks. On the flipside, I found out our white fridge was _not_ white board, much to my mother's dismay. 🤭
