    I have a championship ring from minor league baseball which is very very similar to this example. I was very low on the totem pole, and cannot believe people actually take this much time, skill, and labor by hand to make just one ring. I now have an even greater appreciation for my ring

    We actually had a jewelry making class in high school in the Bay Area in California and you are correct. We would make a wax version of a ring we wanted to make and then it would go into a plaster mold. I made a Green Lantern ring and it was so cool that it was stolen. 😢😊

    Yes. Wax carving uses a hard opaque fine grained wax so you can see make fine detail, see that detail clearly and keep that detail unlike the soft flaky translucent wax used in candles where the light passing through thin sections makes details harder to see. For rings it comes as a convenient hollow cylinder so you don't have to remove so much material from the middle, although for rings like this which are oversized you'd need a larger than normal cylinder or a just a normal block.

    Most jewelry makers have a process to recapture gold dust during that process. If you saw he was over an odd looking table while doing it, I would guess that is the purpose. I used to work in a factory making transformers, some of which had gold in them, and even we would recapture as much of that gold as we could during the process.

    Melting two things together is not 'soldering'. You have to be using solder to be soldering.

  • @donvandenberg5301

    @donvandenberg5301

    Жыл бұрын

    If you're talking about adding the top plate to it, those small pieces of metal that they showed before doing it are solder. That's done when it's to small of an area to use traditional "wire" solder and an iron. You use flux on both pieces, small flakes of solder, and then heat them to melt the solder in an oxygen free environment and it sticks the pieces together.

  • @14768

    @14768

    Жыл бұрын

    @@fiestaturbo1287 No, I haven't, and you haven't either, and no, it doesn't. Look it up. Soldering literally defines as "to join with solder" and solder is "a low temp melting metal alloy". What you are talking about is a soldering iron used to melt wax, not a wax soldering iron. There is literally no such thing as wax solder. Just because you call it that, or someone else calls it that, doesn't mean it is correct. By definition of the word solder is metal, not wax, not plastic, not anything else, metal. I can lick a piece of paper and stick it to a window, it doesn't mean I glued it to the window. I could say I glued it, and most people would understand, but it's not factually accurate. I stuck it to the window. To glue something, you have to use glue, and saliva isn't glue, just like wax isn't solder. Anyone else who wants to comment and name similar statements as the two knob's i've already replied to, you are wasting your time. You are 100% wrong and I will not be responding anymore so save your finger strokes.

    Guys wouldn't you want a bronze statue or a rifle from a previous war vs jewelry 🤔. How about guided trips in the Rocky Mtns vs. jewelry. U could sell those rings for something cool or more memories?

    I used to own a superbowl ring. Then I used it to travel the world. 💣 All it is, is some effeminate silver and gay designs.

    I didn’t realize that Superbowl rings could print airline tickets. That’s a pretty nifty feature. I’m not sure what "to travel the traveled the world" means, though. Maybe stick to writing in your native language, since it’s obviously not English.

    High school class rings are a joke nobody ever wears them past the summer that they graduated. A college class ring is different That's a huge achievement to finish 4 years of college hell anybody can finish high school less than 30% of the adult population has a college degree that in itself is an achievement.

    How It's Made : High Fructose Corn Syrup : Oh, wait... They still won't let you know because they don't want folks to know it looks like slimy mucous, even worse than the pink slime they were putting into ground beef to make it look redder. 🤢🤮
