I haven't had a drink in a year and a half. Best decision I've ever made

Smart move. I ditched booze 4 years ago and never miss it. Its fun when you are young and have no responsibility but mostly its just bad news

He made the right decision. My body and me ended up in an ICU due to going on a bender. Now I can hardly walk after sitting for a hour and my balance and strength are shit. It's only been six months and I aim to recover as best I can. My slams were pretty harsh skating pools and ramps, but nothing like this pain and soreness I feel daily. Drinking is fun. I wish everyone could be the "couple drinks a week" type of person. But alcohol chooses you, you dont choose it. Six months sober.

if you dont mind me asking...how much did you fuckin drink that night?!!
I quit drinking when my daughter was born after drinking almost everyday for 5 years. I don't miss it and I feel a lot better now. If you are on the fence about quitting definitely try it out for at least 100 days to see if you feel any better. It will be hard but I think it is worth it.

I think in like 100 years if the world is still around people will just wonder what we were doing putting that stuff into our bodies. Same for smoking
Brian Anderson is such a legend, a very cool perspective in skateboarding!
The sickest tricks I ever did where while I was drunk but also the gnarliest slams. I used to have so much fun and skate so good it's hard for me to not want beers while I skate. Long story short the last time I touched a board I was drinking and had the worst injury I ever had and haven't touched a board since. Thinking about getting back on the board this summer but I haven't skated since July of last year because of drinking and skating.
It’s amazing how much not drinking helps you feel better lol. I recently cut alcohol out and I’m not sad about it.
Brian is L E G I T. One great human being. ❤️
I had a gnarly drinking problem. I am a pretty decent skater for about 20 plus years and was on life support after a traumatic brain injury skating a bowl. I love this interview from BA because I can say I’m sober and can still skate. Drinking and skating was the dumbest trend during a chunk of my skating life, piss drunx era…..got really heavy into then and never stopped.

Me too. I was just thinking how good all of my joint feel. Even my shattered patella is completely fine. Wouldn't be like that if I didn't replace drinking with lifting weights and eating clean. Collegen and creatine supplements really work and fewer processes sugars and carbs. 34. Been skating the streets for 25 years.
I had the pleasure of skating/hanging out with BA in the summer of ‘96. Met him through a dude named Scott Malbourn and we hung out in Groton/New London. He was am for toy machine at the time. Nicest dude in the world. One night led to me losing my Goldschlager and chicken and rice in the back of a cab. Good times.
Brian's new book will be out next week. Frontside Blunts>Backside Stunts. Pre Order now. 1st Chapter: Days at Hubba Nights at the Eagle....The open days.
I ised to skate while drinkin aloooot, a small buzz is good for confidence, being drunk is a recipe for disaster. After 5 beers i could feel the liquid splashing inside of me, like i do a 180 and then feel the beer splash, thats the begining of the end of the day. Dont drink and skate, pretty much dont drink ever
Brian Anderson is a legend
I remember seeing him front smith grind a handrail that went down a big huge bank ramp at one of the trade shows in the '90s. He was pretty drunk.
That slam was actually in the Gang Of Fourstar video it was gnarly

So glad Ive had the opportunity to spend some time with BA before he is the nicest most raddest person ever’ just the best person and so humble 🙌
he's got the best name
BA is on the skate Mt Rushmore. Gnarliest dude with the sickest style.
When I was younger skaters used Adderall to get going, alcohol to not care about falls, and oxy for the post skate pain. Now we're using CBD oil, green tea, and yoga. 😅
The only time I've been seriously injured was from drinking and skating. Was at my local park that I'd skated a thousand times before but was way too many drinks deep. Ended up bailing a transfer from bank to quarter and just ate concrete. Dislocated my elbow and fractured parts of my forearm and had to get surgery that very night to set the ligaments into place. I'm still skating now and take it much more carefully but I will NEVER drink and skate again.

Fuuuk reminds me of the epicly layers beauty and beast tour when BA's hukkin vicodins with straight Jim beam for breakfast then totally pukin blood that night.its so easy for us older hurtin sk8rs to get fukt up on painkillers eh.one day ya just takin the edge off to get out and rip then it sneaks up on ya to the point where ya convinced ya can't sk8 without them.ive had 18 breaks and fractures and ground down cartilage to the bone but 5 years ago I did ibogaine at a beach house and haven't needed any since.still can and have and still love a cold beer and still party once in a blue moon it just help me to take it or leave it and know I'm better without it mostly. For all the pain I wouldn't change a thing, lived and loved a life on-board.im 43 and still rippin.Sup yo from NZ.Peace!!
