People commenting on these videos always show compassion for the longest resident shelter animals, but I volunteer at a shelter and no matter how much I try to highlight our long timers, they still just want to see the puppies or purebreds, little ones or pretty ones. If only everyone was like this girl, who knew that she'd really be saving Ginger's life, and that helped her own emotional healing. There is nothing more fulfilling than rescuing an elderly animal from a shelter. This poor girl became elderly in the shelter to think she entered there as a young dog is heartbreaking.

@@lisabelle7553 not everybody wants a big dog and can travel or handle a big dog and I'm certainly not going to get an aggressive breed like a pitbull mix. I hate pitbulls. I only deal with breeds that I am familiar with and that I know I can train.

No dog is “ unadoptable”. It’s a matter of finding a human that will put in the time and effort. People tend to be lazy and if a dog has challenges they return them because it’s “ inconvenient” for them! I only adopt seniors. My latest lived in a puppy mill for 8 years of his life. He knows nothing. Guess what, his life still matters! I’m glad that person gave that dog a chance ❤

Well first it depends on what skills you have. I have a great deal of experience dealing with dogs who have been abused or neglected and it is wonderful to see an animal that is afraid all the time finally feel that they are safe and loved and home. What I don't have experience with is aggression, and it would be irresponsible to take on an animal like that since I don't have the skills and experience to handle that on my own. I think though for most people, the COST of adopting certain dogs can be far too much... often they end up there because the owners either can't pay for medical treatment. I'm at the point where I can't afford to have ANY dog even though I'd love to have one... but you have to be able to cover the cost to get the care they need.

@@naejimba You are missing my point. No dog is unadoptable. If the dog is aggressive there are experienced people out there who could adopt. Yes vet care is unbelievably expensive. I’m on Social Security. I’m not rich. I do get insurance for every senior I adopt. That way I put it on my card and pay it as soon as I get reimbursed from the insurance company.

She is adorable. I don’t understand how she was unadoptable? She’s wonderful. I’m so sorry about the loss of your brother. Animal family members can really help with that. If you see this-our a Rigby was diagnosed with two different cancers. The first lump disappeared on its own after the biopsy. The second one was removed from his throat (it had grown off a a little flap of skin so it could be cut off otherwise it would have been his death). We were told that the second one was so aggressive that he had no more than 3months to live. He lived 3 more years until the cancer came back and was taking over. At age 11 we chose to help him over the rainbow bridge. I’m just saying - you may have many many years together. I hope that for you.
