    First timer. Found your channel by accident. Question: have you done a video on inflammation of the optic nerves? I had limited peripheral vision in my left eye, went in for an exam with a MD Opthamology who said the optic nerves behind both eyes were inflamed. Only 20% vision, the following week, GCA surgery, Negative thankfully, (2 new scars). Haven’t driven since (3 yrs). Saw all the specialists, Neurologist prescribed Diamox (can’t take it, I sleep 15 hrs a day). Where to turn now? Thank you. “J”

    Dr D 🧐... Is it possible for an optiometrist to measure the correct power of eye without dilation as some of them say it is not required to dilate to measure the power .

    I had my eyes dilated with cyclopentolate and the guy overdosed me causing drops to work instantly instead of waiting 20-30 mins. It took about 3 days for pupils to go back to normal despite having very dark brown eyes. I still have eye issues since these drops, discoloured whites, capilleries are showing and dark viens have appeared. I get discomfort since and odd sharp pains. Apparently they cant see any damage but its obviously not right. He should never have put so much in so he didnt have to wait. One drop per eye is suffient, ive had it done before. Also i had rapid heart rate after drops 2 days in a row. He told me there are no risks or side effects. He is a scum bag 😠 I may have to end my life if my eyes dont get better. Im not living with his stupidity. Eyes are one of the most important parts of your body.

    The eye (or, ducts)) can secrete urine? I love your videos . Helps me to have more questions for my opthalmologist

  • @EyeSchoolwithDrD

    @EyeSchoolwithDrD

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you and thanks for watching! No, the eye/ducts don't secrete urine. I was talking about the autonomic nervous system automating body activities LIKE tears, digestion, urination etc. Didn't mean to be confusing! Think of eye dilation as being controlled by the same system that controls the other automatic things in our bodies like urination & digestion.

    Is it normal for optometrist to use three different eye drops at the same time to dilate eyes?

  • @EyeSchoolwithDrD

    @EyeSchoolwithDrD

    Yes...likely proparicaine (numbing), then phenylephrine and tropicamide. that gives the absolute best dilation for every day clinical practice
