Tip: Wax is 85%. For instance, if you want to fill an 8 oz jar: 8 oz x .85 = 6.8 oz of wax.

Cheers for this, I have been researching "what temperature does candle wax ignite?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panlijah Inconceivable Position - (search on google ) ? It is a great one off guide for discovering how to become a candle making master and turn a profit minus the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got excellent success with it.

This carries over to fragrance oils. People often wonder why one bottle will be filled more than the next. The weight in each is the same, but the volume is different. Everything in candle making is done in weight.

There are no real hard set rules for candles even with fair labeling act. Most of the rules people point out are for cosmetics. It's a good idea to label net weight. You could even do 8oz (net wt 6oz)

Hi Jeff, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I am new to candle making and while I was doing one at the time 8.5oz (wax fill) jars with 10% fo I got perfect candle every time while trying new fo and doing burn tests. I tried doing 3 at the time 8.5 x 3= 25.5 (1.59lbs on my scale) and 8% (2.04) FO one batch, 10%(2.25) second batch I got only 2 full jars and half of the third one! Not sure why it doesn't add up! I even had CS team confirmed my calculations and they have video with same jars doing 6 candles, but two attempts and no luck. Please advise! Feel discouraged .. and I have no intention to do one by one forever! Thanks

  • @unbreakable207

@@The92CandleCompany Hi Donna, I actually increased the wax amount to 9oz (as this is what I got by using the calculation of adding water to desired fill line and multiply by 0.9 instead of suggested wax fill found on the CS website for my jars. The end result was 9oz per candle not 8.5. and the fill level was somewhat lower but closest to where I want it. I do 5 at the time (amount I can put in my pitcher) with 8% fragrance and it works well! Another way you can try is melt the wax and add it to an empty jar while on the scale to desired fill line to get the wax weight by jar. Make sure you zeroed your scale once you put an empty jar on! Hope this helps, good luck!! ☺️
