For the small clubs without a patch sheet available, you'd be surprised how many "budget" fixtures can do RDM these days.. definitely give it a shot before reverse engineering everything. Especially if they hired a contractor to do the install, it's likely they'll be brand name with a fixture profile readily available in your console. I would never even dare to plug into a venue's IP network -- and I do networking professionally. Way too many unknowns, pitfalls, and things to break. If I'm in a situation where there are (physically inaccessible) DMX nodes, I'll sooner set an input on the house console for HTP DMX merge and send a universe in through old fashion DMX. If I absolutely need to send an IP DMX protocol, 90% of the time if it's sACN, it'll be multicast with "dumb" switches and frankly it won't matter what your IP or subnet configuration is anyway.

Hey David, I really appreciate the videos you make but can you please not repeat so much. Write a script, summarize. 15 minutes is really long for what you need to teach. Thanks
