How do you stay motivated?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I was born without arms and learned how to do everything with my feet. over the years I have made countess videos showing what I am capable of achieving. In this video I take a step back and evaluate some personal thought on why perfection was such a huge part of my development and growth growing up. Today I feel confident in my abilities and no longer feel the need to be perfect.
I learned that my perfectionism kept me from being motivated

Realizing that you don't owe anything to anyone, and just being you is good enough, is the biggest step you can take toward happiness. I have entire months when i do nothing but go for walks. I guess that comes with age too. I've already built a life, now I'm enjoying it.

Some days, there is no motivation. Other days, I manage to tackle things. Project completion is difficult due to ADHD & lack of motivation. There are days where I just focus on one step at a time, so long as I keep going it's progress, even if I don't get as far as I'd like. On days that I am able to complete things, it does feel good and is a bit encouraging to keep going. You mentioned about expectations, it is extra challenging to push yourself when there are no expectations. Because, what's the motivation, why bother? I love your Perseverance. I enjoyed your coloring today, it reminded me of how much I enjoy coloring as well. Today, I'm going to take some time to color a page, and get lost in the pleasure of coloring. Take care & keep on keeping on!

My son has micocephaly and does not know what time or day it is. Does not know time or age and he is 15. I always say god gave you 2 arms and legs. Make the most of life and do what what motivates him. Just to get him out of bed for school we play WWE with his 18 year old sister. I play your videos to him to try to make him understand or over come activities. He can't talk but learns through play and KZread. He understands your teaching which motivates him. Thankyou trish. Your the best. X

What keeps me motivated is the basic excitement of living and all the history of the world and science, also family, friends and the people I meet who on occasion I like. Beyond that, being a skilled carpenter working for a contractor has kept me busy and happy . Love your videos Tisha!

I've found that pushing myself to be motivated just ends up being overwhelming. Stepping away for a bit resets everything. I stay motivated by taking breaks when I need to - physical and mental. It doesn't feel too fantastic to just completely "shut down" for a few days, but it is essential and by the time I'm almost completely recharged, the motivation to create (or build, plant, clean, search, etc.) is just there. Tisha - thanks for posting this and sharing your thoughts! Your idea on focusing on just doing the project and leaving pressure out with a bit of indifference is brilliant! I'd love to see you do a "craft with me" video or Livestream!

I struggle everyday too. Unfortunately, I find that anger is a big motivator for me. After a while, I get so fed up with myself, a situation, or another person that then I take some kind of action.

I subscribed because while I am a "complete" human being, I've wanted to know what it was like to be "handicapped", & how the person overcomes their limitations. I put the words complete & handicapped in quotation marks, because the definition of those words (for me) have changed - you can have all your limbs, & be mentally challenged, or your shortcomings are visible to others, yet you have the desire to succeed. I've had nearly a decade of facing down various challenges, & while I wish I could say my motto is "Wake Up - Kick Ass - Repeat", it really is closer to "I do this because no one else can." Yes, this pandemic didn't do anyone any favors - as a matter of fact, it made my situation that much more difficult. But this is the closest I will get to feeling down about it. Thanks for the video, Tisha - it's good to know that it's alright to have an off day.

What keeps me going in my journey is : its my journey and I don't care what people like or don't like about me. I love myself, and have spend lots of time with myself alone, traveling, road trips, kayaking , just figuring out what makes me happy. I've found that I'm a very simple person who requires so little in life. No materialistic things, no money just bare necessities are all I require and I'm happier now then when i had all the above, money, house, lots of things, lots of friends etc. I would gladly give it all up again. I keep my close personal circle small and do things that I need for my sanity which are the simple things in life.

The ability to see colours is a blessing. Having a colour vision disability puts a limit on one's employment opportunities -- never being able to operate any sort of large vehicle -- big trucks, buses, transit and freight trains, planes, cranes, etc.

Tisha, I am glad that you bring up this topic. Unfortunately I am perfectionist and I always keep pressure on myself about everything. Most of the time, this causes me to not start things in case of what If I fail, can't handle it or can't reach out to my expectation level of mine. There are lots of things that I keep wait like projects, turning out points of my life like work, starting to GYM, even a simplest thing as cleaning something. Seeing you painting lines without caring while you talk made me felt ease. But Tisha, there is also reward of this. In my life, I always, "ALWAYS" heard compliments about what I am doing at the moment. It can be my job, hobby, everything. Cuz I tried my best with my conditions I am in. Maybe I could work harder on things but I tried my best as possible with the feelings/situations of that moment. I like perfectionist people without realizing I like them. They are hard-workers to accomplish what they have accomplished. It is not about what other says, and even the fact I really loved what you have told that "Perfection is not requirement for success." YES! It is NOT! But what can you do if you are born that way? with perfectionist personality? What can you do? Gosh, seeing you painting without caring and stressing out about it. So good! LOL And the most saddest thing to have as a perfectionist is unkown-ness. It can be simplest thing as work schedule, hang out/meeting up with someone who does not care about meeting time. For me, the heaviest thing was stabbed in the back by my parents. They are really bad at raise a child, and after losing my father in unexpected way, mom never ever really cared about us and this made me ending up with no life. I had to start working at 18, can't go to university, can't treat myself up as young teen, living in sitting room with no space, depressive mother who does not clean home plus throwing garbages around at home, telling us "Don't clean, this is not your business, I will clean.", if you insist, be ready to drama etc. I am 25 now, checking my all the friends from my primary school and seeing that they already drew a lifeline. I need to continue to my education such as university to become what I want, need to clean home without listening two people's yadda-yadda's and creating space in my living room, start GYM to gain weight. Ugh, so many things that I want to do and I DO NOT HAVE FEAR about these things cuz I have been thinking about these things like over and over again. The only thing I am feeling is 'stress' cuz I am feeling like I am already late for life but restrain myself with "There could be worse." So I am always thinking about the worsts and making plan B's. Even thinking worst-scenerio like losing my family. I think that feeling build up cuz for once I lived that with losing my father. So here comes your question. What you do if you have breakdown right away after open your eyes that day? It is a bad day for sure. You are feeling like you are all sucked up by life, life experiences; having hard time keeping your head up, even getting out from your bed, plus like I said not having a space in home, no comfort makes even worse. Not taking a shower for a long time etc. But you know what, working in a full time job takes you out from that self-harming bubble-world. You have to go that job to keep the track of time, to handle spendings, bills. Plus, I can't give up cuz there is two person in home who waits for me, I need to be more stronger, kind of breathing for them. For that day, my biggest goal is calling it a day after the work. Next day is a new day, I know that so I am waiting that day and start to think about what am I going to do with next months/years about my life. What is my reach goal in this swamp? Slowly I know but with sure steps I am evolving more. Life becomes fun with all these up's & down's. I can't think a life that stable everyday. The reliefness after the bad things are over. Think about it, suddenly, you are having a heavy cold and your life turns in to a nightmare but after it is over, you feel like reborn and appreciate things, praise God like it was the first time. I always praise him for what I have and pray him for keeping safe my family and every individual in this Earth, to keep everyone in right path. I know this text is a little bit mixed-up but I just wanted to share what my feelings are. I also want to say you that you have an amazing humour which I find it very close to mine or similar. I always loved your videos. Too shame that you are not sharing anymore like the old times but it is okay tho! It just better when people does not force them selves into things. Please do it whenever you feel it to. Thank you for reading and taking your time, thank you Tisha! Greetings from Turkey!

Hi Tisha, My son uses his feet for every thing he does. I had always wondered that his foot sort of folded in on the foot he has always used to write. I was not sure if it was because of the arthrogryposis which is what his body was diagnosed with at birth. I see your foot is almost exactly like his. His foot just adapted to needing to use it for everything. The way our body can adapt, amazing. Missed seeing you in the video but I love you voice just as much. Hope you are well and that you have the best year ever!

Physical life can't escape projects. I've started way too many compteted very few. I now spend a lot of time trying to learn my mind and what is the reasons that we humans were made and maybe how it's designed. It seems the point is progressing in mind. How we perceive all this. Maybe science will one day recognize and understand and we will all be healthy minds from understanding some truths. Maybe not. Are we just meat or more. Is what occupies my time a lot these last few years. Bless you my friend.

Music, I guess? When I don’t feel Ike getting out of bed, I’ll put a song on to listen to while I get dressed. And if I have a job that I find tedious or unpleasant, music or an audiobook is how I distract from the “I don’t want to be doing this” thoughts. But I’m trying to learn not to rely on a crutch, but just do what needs to be done simply because it needs to be done.
