Thank you so much for this. It gave me a mental framework to keep me guided as I read through my copy of the Summa Theologiae. Iʼve started reading two weeks ago and Iʼm at a slow pace initially. But with your guides here, Iʼll get a better hang of it. Kudos to the visual team who made everything so pleasing to watch, it makes the content greatly engaging. Please keep on making these! I am hooked! God bless! *Soli Deo gloria!*

I typically start with the Sed Contra and the Corpus and then take the objections and replies in order (obj. 1, reply 1, obj. 2, reply 2, etc.). This requires a lot of flipping pages back and forth, but I use a kindle or the Verbum app which greatly assists by having side-by-side screens. It makes sense the order in which Aquinas presents the article by letting all the objections come out first, but by the time I get to the replies, I have a hard time remembering all the objections and their order. I’m looking forward to the video(s) on the “jargon”. It’s difficult when you come across one sentence that has four or five technical terms in it. I have to read it a few times and still may not fully grasp it. On a side note, perhaps there will be a future video on the Angelic Warfare Confraternity? I was enrolled several years ago. It should be more widely known.

I would also recommend the Summa Contra Gentiles, which is written, for the most part, in a direct lecture style, and beautifully written as well.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📚 St. Thomas Aquinas's works can appear intimidating due to specialized vocabulary and terminology. 00:26 🧐 The Summa Theologiae isn't merely a reference book; it offers a systematic and pedagogical approach to theology. 01:50 📖 Reading an article of the Summa involves starting with a question, considering objections, a Sed Contra (rebuttal), the body of the article (Corpus), and replies to objections. 02:43 📢 Exploring St. Thomas Aquinas's writings is essential for a deep understanding, and while guides can help, there's no substitute for reading his work directly. @@GuitarBloodlines Look, its historical fact that the 'church fathers' & post Ist century christian writers were greatly influenced by the hellenistic world of greek philosophy. Many of them including Origen, Turtullian, Athanasius and others combined their thinking and writings on Plato and even Jewish philosophers like P|hilo. As for Thomos, please read this from 'Google' "Thomas was a prominent proponent of natural theology and the father of a school of thought (encompassing both theology and philosophy) known as Thomism. He argued that God is the source of the light of natural reason and the light of faith.[11] He has been described as "the most influential thinker of the medieval period"[12] and "the greatest of the medieval philosopher-theologians".[13] His ideas, unlike many currents in the Catholic Church of the time,[14] embraced several ideas put forward by Aristotle-whom he called "the Philosopher"-and attempted to synthesize Aristotelian philosophy with the principles of Christianity.[15]. Thus since Paul travelled extensively in the entire regions of Asia minor where greek philosophy was popular, he did indeed have this all in mind when he wrote his warnings to the Colossians at Col 2:8. The grrek who lived there engaged in much speculation and philosophical arguements. My comment was totally valid.
