@@spyro2002 even so, we haven't gotten the Nekroz trap yet, but it's still mentioned in their searcher's card text. And I'm sure there were other examples from the time of either general enough search criteria or just future proofing... I would have hoped by 5Ds they had worked that out

This is why I have one copy of Blue Rose Dragon in my deck.

I think it would be really helpful to use the “sample hand” feature in the deck builder to show some hands and talk about how they would play out

Neat Segment Joe, perhaps a small showcase of a duel with both builds could be great proof of concept and showing where mistakes are made in deck building

The problem with doing that for decks like this, is that if I take them on the ladder right now, both versions will lose, because Rose Dragons can't stand up to the Master Duel meta no matter how you build them.

@@HardlegGaming wasn't really thinking ladder as obviously your rank would suffer, and you can't use the in game master duel bots due to lack of crafts. Maybe potentially use the AI on Dueling Nexus or ygo pro puzzle mode?

I pulled a royal rare mekk-knight purple nightfall. I didn't make a whole deck around mekk-knights, but I wanted to use it and so splashed it into a melffy deck I was playing at the time. It turned out to be super helpful, as it ran over problem cards and baited out negations. So pulling the royal rare indirectly led me in an interesting direction, at the vary least.

Love this kind of series! Not many people go in depth with the specifics of deck building so this is a great resource for newer players.

It's understandable because when you deck build, you're adding your own playstyle, like it's a part of your personality. And besides deck building is really fun. Konami keeps adding more cards!

As a plant deck enthusiast there are a couple of plant monsters that do benefit from being in the GY, however, not many of them are level 4 or higher. 1 tech you could try out is Staysailor Romarin as when she is sent to GY by an effect you can send a level 5 or lower plant monster to the GY. Some monsters to consider could be Rose Lover to banish from the GY to special a plant from hand. Dark Verger is not bad either if you can get a few of them into the GY as they special themselves when you normal summon a plant tuner such as Rose Girl.

Well there are some plants that interact with the gy but most of them don't interact with Rose dragon very well. If you want plants in the gy it's better to play Sunseed, Aromage and Rikka. Which don't synchro summon (aromage synchros don't count)

The level 4 or higher plant to send in my build is Mardel Generaider Boss of Light, which you then special summon out with Empress of Blossoms, a plant synchro 7, which the deck is designed to make and benefit from. If you use Red and White Rose Dragon to go into Empress, you get Roxrose on the field, the revival spell off Rox, Frozen Rose off Red, Mardel on field from Empress, and a plant to hand off Mardel. That plant to hand can be Rose Fairy, a non-tuner 3, which will then summon itself to the field, or Rose Girl, a tuner 3, which will summon itself to the field as soon as you put any of the plants you just summoned into the grave.

To answer the question at the 2 minute mark: this isn't part of an archetype, so to say, but I pulled a royal rare Gold Sarc, so I just knew I had to make Thunder Dragons.

Don't forget black rose hase another effect other than nuking the field. It is great to use with kaijus.

The first line of text on gameciel says "you can special summon this card to your opponent's field in atk position..."

I pulled a royal luster pendulum that I made a Dinomist/dracoslayer deck that was pretty fun I also got a royal rusty bardiche that I built a long, complicated scrap recycler combo that makes bardiche, borreload savage, and a quick effect pop three by cymbal skeleton to summon Dingirsu on the opponent's turn to active bardiche which in turn activates unchained abomination

I recently got a royal rare Stardust Dragon: Assault Mode and now have a desire to build an Assault Mode deck. Haven't focused on making it yet, but one day.

I did get super lucky once where, while opening packs to build Swordsoul, I pulled a Royal Rare Draco Berserker of the Tenyi. Didn't change my plans for the deck, but it was a welcome inclusion.

Draco berserker actually does come up, especially for lines where you push for game with shaman. Plus, the banish is sort of a negate.

I think you're undervaluing Crossrose Dragon. It untangles awkward no-tuner or tuner-only hands and turns them into a Quick Black Rose that ends with you in the advantage. Cloister is also... fine, it's basically an extra copy of Basal Rose Shoot, but the ability to pitch Princess can occasionally come up. It's basically free flexibility.

Staysailor Romarin is a great lvl 4 target for White Rose and the reason to play Garden Rose Maiden. When Romarin is sent to the grave it bins a lvl 5 or lower plant from main deck or extra deck. This opens up for Maiden's GY effect to revive a Rose Dragon for further extension. Romarin is also a tuner, meaning if you happen to draw it and white rose you have a lvl 8 synchro option should you so choose.

I would argue instead of 3 imperm, you could do e-telly, ghost ogre package. Adds an extender plus ghost ogre can turn rose dragon into Baron to end on. Or can use ogre as a hand trap

Fantastic break down on the ideals of deck building! Great to see you explain goals and showcase ways to achieve them. Still very new to all the inner workings of yugioh and I was able to follow along and be entertained.

One of the first dacks that I wanted to play in MD was Raidraptor and fortunately or curiously one of the first card that I pulled in the Master Pack with the staples(Ash, Judgment and LS), I think, was a Royal Rare Final Fortress Falcon which I still have in my collection even if I don't play it in my current build

I mean trying to improve a deck without actual good generic cards is like trying to cure disease without actual medicine, if you play halq at least you can try to set up something like blackrose on opponent's turn and it still stay ture to the deck's theme. Now it's kinda just hoping your opponent have absolute zero followup or bust.

I agree with you, But I also see where Dnayel is coming from where sometimes people kill the soul of the deck in order to make it competitive. It's been a while, but I remember Firebat making a series like this for Hearthstone, and sometimes will cut so much of the deck that it's only superficially what the original poster was going for. In this case, I feel Halq would give the deck far more options, and help in either bringing out the Roxrose or the Red Rose from the deck (maybe even opening up some room as then with an extra deck search for either of those means you could probably pair down the amount of copies of each in the deck) Also, Halq can go into Garden Rose Flora, which gives the deck a Black Rose on the opponent's turn, if the deck is ever forced to go First, It would mean that you *MUST* turn on always chain because timing such a wipe is going to be crucial for the deck. It'd give the deck a reason to pop the White Rose Cloister in again, just to have a searchable pop target for Flora. Also, saying "No Generic Cards" and then having the stray Super Poly package in the deck feels kinda bad faith. Because Super Poly is essentially acting as "Generic BS" as it doesn't synergize with the deck at all.

Moonlight can also bounce your own Kaju back to your hand. Also replace the trap card with with Staysailor Romarin as the foolish target to send Maiden to the gy.

I'd love to see a video on how you view the fundamentals of deck building for master duel. I frequently find decks that only function well going first or second just fall apart in the best of one format but building for both results in inconsistent decks... How do you approach the issue? How important is a single core combo/objective or is risking consistency for variety worth it? These are just some examples and this kind of video is great to get some insight, but a from the ground up view on how to build a deck would be amazing

I was tempted by a royal that is part of an archetype that I used to play a lot and a friends says it is "my deck", even though I didn't play it since they support, and it was a Dark Requiem (also, what a beautiful card to pull a Royal) but since it's not worth it in it's deck... I just kept it. Even though I'm not a newcomer to the game, I'm so used to play utility or defensive cards at 2 just to have more variety in my hands, and I'm even more inclined to do this in best of 1 formats. I only play at 3 cards that start my plays or are a must for how important they are (I was going to use Cynet Mining as an example, but then I realized that I'm playing 2 in my Mathmech because of how scuffed it is at the moment...) I think that Dnayel took some inspirations from some BS Halq combo decks with that Vishuda and I think that is pretty interesting. I believe that the combo goes as: Summon Vishu(7), normal Red Rose(3T), synch into Baronne, trigger Red to summon Rox which searches Rose Shoot which then, summons Red back for Halq Combos. But there can be done other things with 2 level 3 dragon tuner. They can be use for Hieratic Seal to have a bounce and a follow-up or Gossip Shadow which is just a monster "negate" with a draw. So I personally would not cut Vishu because curiously enough, with the correct hand it allows the deck to go first, thing that It cannot do. In the same bane? (not sure if it's the correct word) of going first, the Assault mode pack could be good. Is not THAT big of a engine (2 emergency teleport, 3 psi-reflector, 1 beast, 1 trap) and they just allow some easy synchros like Dawn Dragster or Moonlight... but is mostly player preference at this point, since playing it would mean lowering down the rose dragon cards and polarizing the deck a bit I guess? ALSO, I want to point out another interesting interaction from one of the coments in this video (Credit to movelea) with Red and White in a simmilar bane? as the Vishu combo. Synch both into Empress of Blossoms> Red summons Rox, White "foolishes" Mardel, Rox adds Rose Shoot>Empress summons Mardel, which adds Rose Girl which will summon herlself once you synch using Empress>Then just make any synchro 10 and any 7 OR instead of the level 7 make an I:P to use the leftover Mardel for a Unicorn during the opp turn.

I really enjoyed this show. Really helps with deck building ideas for sure. I'd love to see you do something with Magnet Warriors or the Poker Knights!

Ooh, this is great. I know I've got a favorite card that I'd love to actually build a deck around (which I have), but I'm fairly certain I need to find a way to upgrade it. Current version's very casual and probably couldn't break into Gold at this point. I hope you continue this new type of video, I'm sure it'll be very informative!

I was always planning to make an Igknight deck, but then I got a Royal Rare Igknight Unite and decided to try for something. Still working on how to make it more consistent.

Commenting for the algorithm, and to let you know that this is a pretty cool idea. I think I've learned more about deckbuilding concepts and good practices from this one video than I have in the few years I've been playing Yugioh casually. I'd love to see something like this with other decks and archetypes. Breaking down what their gameplan is, how they achieve it, why run one card versus another, etc.

Great concept, Firebat's Deck Doctor was one of my favourite card game series on YT so very happy someone in ygo is finally doing an equivalent. Only criticism of note, I'd love to see some actual gameplay. I understand crafting these in MD is asking a bit much, but iterating on a deck and maybe dueling patrons in EDOPro would add some credence to your points and let you test some more oddball aspects (Maybe Crossrose ends up being crucial in practice, etc).

You should throw in the lvl 7 xyz that steals your opponents monsters because your easily able to make lvl 7s

In regards to the probability and consistency thing, I remember reading an article arguing that a 41 deck using Upstart is mathematically more consistent than the 40 card deck without.

It can't be. Think about it: If you draw upstart, you just replace it with another card, essentially making the same hand you would've drawn with a 40 cards deck. There's no situation in which it can be more consistent as it doesn't search but rather gets the next card in your deck. The whole point of upstart is to play a 39 cards deck (or a 59 cards grass deck but then again might aswell switch it to something with a gy effect in case it gets sent)

ok so I've run the numbers which was a pain cause the hypergeometric calculator is broken for some reason it won't give me results. TL;DR a 41 cards deck with upstart is exactly the same as a 40 cards deck. Not counting the fact that upstart can be negated. So let n be the number of cards drawn and N be the size of the deck A = "Drawing any number of a card at 3 copies in your starting hand" B = "Drawing a copy of said card with upstart" C = "A or B if not A" with a 40 P(A) = 1 - P(not A) = 1 - ( (N-3)!/(N-3-5)! ) / (N!/(N-5)!) ) = 1 - ( (37!/32!) / (40!/35!) ) ≃ 33.8% with a 41 cards deck and upstart: P(upstart) = 5/41 P(C) = P(A) + P(B | not A) = P(A) + P(not A)・P(upstart)・P(B) = 1 - ( (38!/33!) / (41! / 36!) ) + ( (38!/33!) / (41! / 36!) )・(5/41)・(3/36) ≃ 33.7% I didn't account for when you draw 1 copy of your card and another with upstart or when you draw 2 copies and the last one with upstart. These scenarios are incredibly specific and wouldn't change the probability plus I deemed them irrelevant since you usually want the 1 copy. Feel free to account for these and prove me wrong if you like probabilities.

the upstart consistancy arguement comes from the idea that most decks have some form of searching and deck thinning already built into it. so activating upstart after doing any kind of search is 'better' then drawing the card outright, since your more likely to draw into your unsearchable power cards after pulling as many searchable cards as possible out of your main deck.

@@Pihutihutihutijay well using the calculations from before I found that you have to be able to thin out 16 cards for the remainder of your deck to get a 1% bonus of finding a specific card. And that's assuming that not drawing into your card right away automatically means you can deck thin that much.

@@Pihutihutihutijay It's more so about it being a card you can draw instead of your garnet. You can just hold on the draw till you play the card that uses the garnet, but you can still just use the upstart if you desperately need the card instead.

Yeah, I got a Royal Toon DM, and tried to make Toon Maju. It did not end well.

Hey Hardleg, been a fan of your content for about 4 years now. I was hoping at the end of your video you would play a match with the deck in like the casual duel room, but I guess that would cost gems. In general I like the concept and I would love to see more advice and tips for returning duelists like myself to build more competitive decks. Like the “Dark hole elementary” style videos. This was a great look at improving deckbuilding, but some test hands or duels for example would be a good improvement.

I pulled a Galaxy Eyes Solflare Dragon that was a Royal Rare and was like 'well I was already building this, but I guess I'm super building this now!'

I think I've pulled one royal rare in master duel, and I have no recollection of what it was. Did really enjoy this video though. I think it's really interesting to think about how to actually build archetypes that don't have obviously powerful plays, and the general deckbuilding advice is nice.

Love it, Joe! I'd enjoy more of this, as well as more Budget Builds. That series really helped me get back into Master Duel with Megaliths! Edit: May I suggest an engine with Infinitracks for a Budget Builds episode? Most of their cards are N/R, with only 2 SR and 1 UR. Heck, a cheap rank-5 deck sounds nice!

@@HardlegGaming I found a really nice deck after searching around by a small creator named Greyscale. It mainly summoned the big xyz spiders with bullet express train and the level 2, or Heart-eartH Dragon with the level 4 and gadgets (via Draglubion). Who knew base Heart-eartH was better than it's chaos form? A near field wipe if it's allowed to live a turn.

Every time pull a royal of a card I just go "Cool, free material"

I actually built a Red dragon archfiend deck, because divine intervention decided to give me 2 royal rare Archfiend Bane when pulling some selection packs.

I'm building an ABC deck because I got a Royal Rare ABC-Dragon Buster and I ABSOLUTELY want to use it. I even got a Daigusto Emeral to reset ABC if I have to tribute it.

You could honestly make this a series to do this and then play it. Or give your patrons a spot light and get replays from them. Showing your build in action. I think it’ll be cool. Especially if you do the commentary for the game play

Cause quiet frankly if you just use the same platform you do the chaos draft. 💡💡💡 instead of playing online against random ppl you could play the patrons (could do as another revenue stream) and they can play you with mirror matches or their own builds. I think it’ll be cool. Love your channel

i like this video it feels very nice to watch, no clue why but it is very nice to watch. I would welcome more of this

if you open white rose dragon + red or roxrose dragon, you shouldn't use dark rose dragon's effect, instead use it to go into ruddy rose dragon, also, if you do open like that go into Periallis instead of dark rose dragon, and use her effect to summon a high level plant monster you can send of white rose (Mardel is a good example), this is better going first but still. And playing crow is good to go into maiden, doesn't really matter if you're willing to go into black garden plays or not, a maiden made with red rose or roxrose can at the very least make a crystal wing synchron dragon.

Pulling a royal Thunder Dragon Titan singlehandedly got me to build the deck

I built a version with the cards "Black and White Wave" and "Scrap Iron Signal", very fun to play.

Just so you know Hardleg the Blooming of the Darkest Rose Trap basically works as a Interdimensional Matter Transporter from grave. However it only works on Plants monsters and Black Rose Dragon. It is pretty good protection if you can survive a direct attack since not many cards can negate from grave. Ironically using it with Predaplants is usally better since it can't be used to protect Ruddy Rose Dragon. The tokens are supposed to be used with the Rose LV 5 Syncro monsters but it is honestly better used for stalling and protection from direct attacks. The tokens can still be summoned even if the field spell is in the grave which is nice. The tokens are also dark type plants so if the tokens somehow survive to your turn you can use them for predaplant fusions lol.

I want to build branded once they get their good cards (Fusion, Lubellion, Mirrorjade) entirely because I've managed to pull a royal Albion AND a royal Fallen of Albaz. Too bad they're getting launched straight into the GY pretty often...

Hey, so I'm a TCG player and not on Master Duel, but if you want a spicy take on Branded that may let you see your Royal Rare longer, why not try out a small Cyberdark package? Specifically, run multiple Cyberdark Edge (N), Claw (SR), Invasion (R), and one Dragon Buster Destruction Sword (UR). In the TCG I also run Cannons, Realms, and an Inferno for destruction/targeting protection, but the condensed build will still spice things up while not taking up too much space for whatever other engine you currently use, like Despia or Dogmatika. What does the engine do? You can dump DBDS for Lubellion material, then equip it later for an Extra Deck lock. Edge is a direct attacker, and Claw when equipped can send Albions, Sprinds, etc to the GY for declaring an attack or even being attacked. Also, you can equip something like your Royal Rare Albion via Invasion to bolster Edge's ATK. That play not only lets you see that sick pull for longer lol, but also if it's sent for an Invasion non-targeting pop (or if Edge is removed from the field), Albion gains its GY effects again. IRL I've beaten Invoked Eldlich, Salamangreat Talkers, Sky Strikers, etc. so it should prob hold up to the Master Duel Meta decently well. Let me know if you try it, its been super fun to play around with, so I thought I'd share :)

I wad making a Naturia deck (I'd love to see what you do with that archetype) and I bought ten packs, got an ultra finish Naturia Gaiastrio, and Naturia Landoise.

9:02 it's an extender most commonly used in synchrons. It just so happens that the rose dragon tuners are dark, so it's a free summon from hand and in multiples could enable a sky cavalry centaurea. The vishuda could potentially be useful alongside red rose to summon baronne

I only built Despias because I pulled a Royal Rare Dramaturge. I was pulling on the Despia Selection pack for something else and I kept pulling NOTHING but Dramaturge and Alubers to the point where it just showed up. So I built the deck since I had almost everything for it because of that 1 Royal Rare. I was gonna scrap everything, but Komoney said "Here you go. Take this thing."

i pulled royal rare puddingcess and like, you only need one. that's why I made madolche. AND THEN they announced the xyz festival so I felt extra good about it.

Ah this is great I can eventually send in my zarc deck to see what upgrades you would recommend

So the gimmick with Black Garden was that you are supposed to use the Tokens summoned to summon Black Rose Dragon from grave. Akiza does this in the anime on occasion. You can do the same thing with Ruddy Rose Dragon as it's attack is multiple of 800, but it's not really that good in this day and age. Most you could hope for now is using it as a floodgate to summon a bunch of tokens to clog up field against combo decks, if that.

Harleg you forgot one of the best synchro 7s, wind pegasus @ingister. And from there we can probably include a second level 10 boss to go into, we could easily make chengying which does a whole lotta damage and is immune to us blowing it up.

I pulled a Royal Rare Odd-Eyes not too long ago. However instead of making a deck based around a trash archetype I took the +30 UR instead.

Got a royal rare Miscellaneousaurus and decided that I may as well play dinos. Never played the deck prior, but I learned to love how it plays.

I got out of Yugioh before pendulums and wasn't planning on using them. But I got two Endymion's from the Lightning storm bundle so I ended up building spell counter pendulums lol

i didnt get a royal rare but when i opened my first selection pack i got shuraig and i was like sure lets play tri brigade they seem cool

I randomly got a Royal Ferrijit and was like "Welp, guess I know what I'm doing."

There are a lot of plant cards that want to be in the graveyard actually, it’s just that most of them are banned lol

Great show and a fun way to learn about a lot of things in general But i feel like we should maybe see things in action Like your "how far can we go with archetype x" Because sometimes things may just feel different in action Or an Improvement may not pan out as you like Also I just like to watch you play some of the more silly decks instead of makeing something as good as possible and this seems like a nice compromise since most staples are needed for the meta things anyways

Royal. Rare. Tzolkin. I've been building Cyber Angels just for that. I'd do my Royal Isolde, too, but that deck is freaking expensive

I've got like 3 decks I only made because I pulled royals for them. I try to stay as rouge as possible but when the game hands you a royal Ecclesia for swordsoul and a Royal Ferrejit for trizoo.. what am I gonna do?

1:50 I built Holy Knights because I got a royal rare Starry Knight, Starry Dragon! :D ... ... ... ... They looked fine but if someone ever Patreons you to play them you go to the door and run x-x Luckly I got a bunch of Dragon Maids as backup... just for the structure deck to come out and have all the staples I had to built... Starry Knights, never again.

Really cool deck, honestly I would add the adventurer engine because it sinergyses a lot with the rose dragons and it helps going second. I know he said that he didn't want generic stuff but the engine is really good with rose dragons

since the wind barrier is even more popular nowadays. i would put the wind kaiju instead. i would cut roxrose to 1 since it doesn't do that much, Hop Ear Squadron could jump in to make that synchro 9 or a Shenshen, or the 5's into a F.A negate, or going from a kaiju into something useful like a baronne de fleur or the lvl 10 rose dragon i really dig this series about deckbuilding

I dig this series! It gives both newcomers and casuals (Of which I am the latter for Master Duel these days) a better idea on how you can make your decks more consistent while also offering constructive criticism. Though I do have a question, HardLeg. Do you take requests here in the comments or is it Discord only at the moment? Cause there are decks like Predaplant or a Predaplant Rose Dragon hybrid I ran into at the Limit 1 event recently, but I need help figuring out where to start.

Right now this is a high level Patreon reward. Maybe if the series takes off I'll open it up to more submissions, but based on this first episode, it doesn't seem to be very popular.

This deck really would benefit from Halq > Shooting Riser on your opp turn. You can nuke the field with blackrose and set up a field with halq + black rose, from there you could tag into shooting riser to synchro ruddy rose on your opp's turn as disruption to blowout your opp on turn 3 if you can't OTK on turn 2. (Shooting riser would dump any level 4 for this... could maybe add Snow as a second disruption before synching off Shooting riser (basically as a searchable Book of Moon).) It is a 3 card investment (1 in the main and 2 in the extra), but I do think it is worth it, and it really does fit into the playstyle/win style of rose dragons!

It wasn't exclusively because of it but I did get a royal rare gilgamesh so I built D/D/D. I was interested in building them anyway but that made it an absolute must build.

Easily the best version of this deck I've ever seen.

Sad I put this off for a month. I'd really like to see more of this, or more like it. I love seeing the thought process that goes into making decks. It's why I got into What A Deck and other content like it. And while there's a lot of videos about building specific decks, it's great to see the general thought process addressing concepts like consistency, elements of going second vs going first, etc. Just not a lot of content about deck theory, and it's a shame most Yugioh content makers have shifted away from it.

My first royal rare in this game was Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, and I genuinely considered building an Ancient Gear deck around it but honestly I was sort of burned out on the game playing decks that lost all the time anyway, so I didn't end up doing it.

I literally pulled a Royal rare light stage a couple weeks ago and threw together a Trickstar deck around it lol
