A set screw is a screw. Turn it to the right to tighten it. To loosen it you turn it left but you might need to check the screw manual to make sure. The set screw can be found on door hardware and commonly found in padlocks with a rekeying option. Master lock like to screw you around with their weird sized set screw that throws Europeans off because they use a different size system for alan keys. I like to set my set screw to come loose at 8am so it acts as my alarm clock when it hits the floor.
