Reindeer Family And Me
Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan is travelling to the frozen north, deep inside the Arctic Circle, to meet the ancient Sami people and the animals they hold so close - reindeer. Known as the reindeer people, the Sami were traditionally nomadic, relying on their precious animals to help them survive the Arctic's harsh winters. Gordon lives with a Sami family in Finnish Lapland to experience their unique culture and to learn about their special bond with reindeer. He works to earn the trust of his own reindeer companion, before leaving behind his adopted family and setting off alone into this land of ice and snow. With only his reindeer to guide him, but armed with the knowledge of his hosts, Gordon wants to immerse himself in this frozen wilderness and attempt to witness the natural phenomenon the Sami most revere - the magical northern lights.

The elves stole them from the Saami people. They curl up at the toe so they can hook into wooden skis to travel across the snow.

More, longer videos... please? So inspiring, we, around the World, cannot get enough. Huge salutes and hugs to BBC Earth, Sir David Attenborough, from Seattle and around the World. Please, don't stop! This poor planet we all call home needs more like you if it will continue to survive, let alone thrive ... 😥 😓 ❤ 🙏 ⚘

Why does the reindeer owner remind of Goldmember. 😂😂 I love goooooooold!!

idk cuz that dude is scandinavian and the goldmember was dutch not really that similar of an accent
Petri was going to teach him everything he knows about reindeer? Really? He gave him a half bag of food and left him to it. Not much of a lesson there. We were told they have thick fur (with hollow hairs) which insulates them. Is that all he learned about these animals? He'd have taught us more about reindeer adaptations if he'd written to Father Christmas for information.

My Favorite place!!!
Nice Reindeer shoes!!!
Love it
Bravoooo
Awesome animals💓💓
They aren’t elf shoes,they are part of the culture
If you look at the ears if the reindeer, you can se that they have small like cuts jn them, that way, they are able to know wich animal belongs to who. Every herder has a different mark on the reindeer, so that he will not lose the reindeer or they don't get mixed with other herders reindeer
Happy New year

@treck87

They're semi-domestic livestock that have been herded for thousands of years. They are not wild Caribou. They would very likely have been hunted to extinction in Europe if they hadn't been domesticated by the Saami people.
They use magic dust😳

Are the temperatures in celcius or Fahrenheit???
@Juzzh
4 жыл бұрын
celsius, they're in finland
@samsalot6115
4 жыл бұрын
@@Juzzh I only asked because i cant imagine -50 degree Celsius. I live in a region where 0 is very very cold. -50 degree ,is unimaginably cold, how does any creature, let alone a man survive. How is his breath not freezing. 😱
@Juzzh
4 жыл бұрын
@@samsalot6115 yeah it's cold, but doable with proper clothing. -30c and more the nose hairs, eye lashes and facial hair start to freeze because of the moisture from breathing, and frostbite risk is getting more serious with toes, fingers, cheeks, ears and nose areas if not wearing proper clothes and staying still for too long in that kind of weather. Coldest I've witnessed was around -40 celsius on two occasions in Finnish lapland, but it isn't too dangerous if properly equipped and not staying too many hours outside without warming breaks
i could not understand what that man said at all
Where’s Santa? 🎅
That was great. All the males were gorgeous on this one. ;)
So the real question is why don't they call them snow Deers?
