Spaniard here. Spanish history in the XIX century is mostly a sequence of civil wars and constitutions, Carlistas and Liberales, coups by the armed forces (which were quite liberal in the beginning) and by the end of the century strong "caciquismo" and "turnismo" in politics (basically electoral corruption). This seems not to be represented in the current version of Vic3, hopefully it gets better in the future. Another thing that could be represented is that the colonies should be unincorporated states rather than puppets (Cuba specially), and then have some mechanic to give them more or less autonomy (Spain tried so but by the end of the1890s it was too late).
Spain is difficult to roleplay in the current victoria3 version (atleast for me a Spaniard). I see so many component lacking wich were of great importance during this period, I would argue that even it starting laws are wrong. The armed forces should be mainly controlled by liberals, the church should not start in goverment and in fact it should be very angry and many other things like this.

Even the map is wild, they give a chunk of La Mancha to Valencia for no conceivable reason.

@@torrent6181 There's a reason. That chunk used to be part of Murcia, and they put Murcia under Valencia, a terrible decision.

@@antoniolozanofenoll7415Oh, I see. I agree that’s a stupid decision they made, putting Murcia with Valencia. I understand they needed to merge smaller states, but Murcia literally shares more history with both Castilla and Andalucía than Valencia. They had three options and chose the worst one.

Man, I like local prices, but having it determined by a couple of techs, and not RAILROADS is pretty silly.
@VarenvelDarakus

yeah i figgured better infrastructure will impact it as it would make sense , ports and railroads , but having it tech driven will just mean that better tech countries at start once again get advantage over others , making smaller poorer countries even harder to play now:c
@HanakoSeishin

What do you mean? Railroads always did determine local prices by the means of infrastructure and market access, and still do, what's new is they've put a limit to how much the prices can be affected. Local prices are not a new mechanic, they were just mostly not doing anything, because by building enough railroads you decreased the local influence on the prices to nothing, and now they've put a limit to this.
@Rincewindus

@@HanakoSeishin I mean that the infrastructure cap is the only effect that railroads have on local prices moving to equilibrium, which is very silly. They're basically the largest impact on trading costs in history, making an enormous number of things that previously would have been uneconomical to trade prime business. It'd make way more sense to have the impact on local prices be affected by the number of railroads than say, having the Stock Exchange tech.
@HanakoSeishin
9 ай бұрын
@@Rincewindus the local prices ARE affected by the number of railroads by the means of the infrastructure. Just try not building any railroads in a state with lots of industries and see how low market access affects the local prices. This was in from the release of the game. You would just always build enough railroads to have 100% market access, which would result in local prices having no effect, and so you would hardly see it. The change now is that even with 100% marker access local prices will still have an effect. But number of railroads influencing local prices was in there from the start.
@Rincewindus

@@HanakoSeishin "the local prices ARE affected by the number of railroads by the means of the infrastructure." No, they aren't. Try building a railroad in a state with a surplus of infrastructure and marvel at how the local prices remain completely unaffected.
Local prices is really going to help Britain, where a great deal of industrialisation came because resources were near the factories (the iron works at Dowlais benefitted from the coal mines nearby for example). It would be good to see ports reduce local prices (or at least align more with market prices.) Access to ports helped Lancashire and London’s industrialisations, with Lancashire’s mills often being cotton-based because of the imports via Liverpool and later Manchester (Yorkshire mills ran wool rather than cotton as it was cheaper locally, which could also be reflected in the price system).
Narvaez was a moderate (for the time) liberal but i think espartero (progresive liberal) should start as the head of the armed forces. He would even take the regencie for himself after Maria Cristina fleed (probably for having to deal with constant rebelions from the military and the national militia) and having to concede to them as the liberals were the only pilar of his rule as conservative supported Don Carlos claims

maria cristina left because of the mayor's law failure that went against the constitution of 1837
I'm playing the Beta right now and I just love the new mechanic even though I wished there to be more options to influence the local market price. Still it's a great addition that changed the whole game and how you should manage your economy
Thanks for the flattering introduction :)
tbh, the local price should be reworked to reflect the actual distance, instead of just a quick % modifier that applied to all. There should be a clear difference between a good produced in the next state, and the same good shipped from the other side of the world. Maybe transport should be moved from a mere service good to become an integrated part of the price, in the sense that the local price will be the sum of base price (at the nearest available production site) + transport cost (price of transport x distance). Transport will be produced at both rail and port (could be separated into land and sea transport), so state with railway and port will have much lower "imported" price than those without.

This!
Love this change. It was really dumb how optimal building locations were completely unrelated to the physical location of inputs. There’s a reason why steel mills are typically built where the iron is and why industrial cities are usually near coal deposits.
You know, it always brings a smile to my face when you start the campaign off saying that this is the country with the best people, the best countryside, and the best food.
Narváez was a strong defendant of Isabel and fought against the Carlists to defend liberalism in Spain. He originally left the army when Fernando VII reigned due to his absolutism and came back when the Carlists wars started to defend Isabel who was the symbol of liberalism in Spain. Later, he led the Moderate party which, in Isabel's ''liberal'' Spain, meant to be the most conservative party as opposed to the progressive party who where still conservative but more liberal leaning. He ended up being president several times.
This was really helpful to me! Played a lot a few months ago, but haven't played in a while, and was really lost in the game. This helped and was really interesting too!

The added inefficiency majes the game way better. It was far too easy to build a ridiculous economy before.

The beta seemed way too jank when I jumped into it a month ago, but I'm really looking forward to playing with this once it hits the full game!
At the beggining - wanting to pass slave trade A bit later - "let's build cotton plantation" ... oh no
Ramón María Narváez was actually a liberal pro constitutionalist and on the side of queen Isabella
I really, really love how many people wrote about Spanish history down in the comments! Besides that I like what OPB showed and explained. Local prices should at least in theory led to more historical centers of industrialization. Which is cool! Sure, you still can build a paper mill in the middle of nowhere to give jobs. BUT now it´s less profitable. I guess private construction also looks on local prices? It would be so cool if private investors also factor their ideologies into their decision where to invest. For example an Austrian aristocrat may not willing to invest into Slavic lands, even when it might be more profitable. BUT another aristocrat (who also dislikes Slavic people ) is a bit more pragmatic and still builds there. That could led to some aristocrats becoming more wealthy and therefore stronger politically and because they are more pragmatic they might support the intelligence. I know dreams, but let me!!! I do also hope that at some point we might see a stacking modifier or so for armies. It feels a bit weird when GB lands half a million man on a tiny port in China and has 100 percent supply and no problems moving such a huge armies around.

The most german looking Bavarian I ever saw
I fells like the entire game was in a beta till now😅
Isn't it a little bit strange that you're now incentivized to concentrate construction sectors far away from where the actual construction may be happening? Or is the local construction efficient bonus currently (or going to be) so high as to ever outweigh the expense of higher local prices further away from resource centers?
As a portuguese, you missed all the bullet points 10 seconds in
i both do and don't understand the concentration of industry, with only so much pops and infrastructure if you have the money why wouldn't you have multiple states producing?

MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE
Once again I’m asking for greece
The fact that you despise the rural folk, but like the religious group is kind of weird considering that they have a lot of synergy. Throw in the military with certain laws and you will literally have almost infinite manpower to fight wars with, build industry (ironically), and of course colonise around the world. (There is an event trigger to make the Rural like colonization) As for the bastion of aristocratic repression....honestly that is quite interesting. This means that i can actually roleplay Brazil during the "Cafe Com Leite" (Coffee & Milk) period when the two wealthiest states of plantation owners/ranchers basically owned all decision making in the country.

The cultures distribution in Spain is so wrong and unhistorical.... where are the Galicians, Andalusians, Asturians, Aragones, Valencians, Castilians (North and South if you want to be specific). All of these, including the Basque and Catalan are Spanish cultures. It makes no sense to have them divided the way they currently are.
