Even though I'm not an addict, 2 of my 3 adult kids are. I was a child-parent and made some epic mistakes. Maya Angelou said "When you know better you do better"

This is God sent! My son is a heroin addict. I missed so many clues, or didn't want to see it. I've spent so many nights wondering what I could of done differently. It's excruciating. On paper my son had the best start. 2 parents, no divorce, no addiction, middle class, private school ect. I'm wracking my brain to make sense of it. This morning I packed his stuff, and told him if he wants help we will do all we can, but we will not help him destroy himself. He's on suboxone and seems just as bad as ever. And we've found all kinds of other drugs on him. We are just done.

I'm going through this now... Kicked my 21 yr old daughter out a week ago. She went directly to her mom's house...mom and step-dad are addicts that introduced drugs to my daughter at 17. Killing me looking back and not doing things differently.

Powerful message! Thank you Karen and the Tree House team. The 'Blame' creeps in making me doubt myself/my actions. Practicing rerouting my thoughts to the 3 C's -didn't Cause it, can't Cure it, and can't Control it.
