How Do I Keep My Horse's Attention? - Q&A With Clinton Anderson

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Question: How do you keep your horse’s attention focused on you? My mare loves to always “look out” and pay attention to everything else but me. For example, we worked on desensitizing with the lead rope and stick and string. She did well - she did not spook or shy away, and she stood there while I threw the rope and stick. But the entire time, she was looking out with her ears perked at something in the distance. Should I ignore this if she’s not afraid of the lesson I’m teaching her? Or should I be trying to get her attention on me? With more training and handling her on the ground, will she learn to focus? I have not dealt with a personality like hers yet.

He is good in the show pen. Keep in mind when he was traveling to dozens of clinics he didn’t have the time to dedicate to showing.

He's just now really getting into the show circuit, no time when he was running clinics. I think this is why he retired, actually.
