This is also why so many people like this (with disabilities, or part of a minority race/religion/etc.) typically don't like the questions of "what is this like as a (x) person?"... I mean number one, the questions tend to be repetitive (every single one of her videos have comments underneath like "How do you read and write comments if you're blind???" etc.) but also the question itself is a generalisation and it is demanding that the person you're asking generalises their entire condition and every other person with it. There is also the worry that people will try to whiteknight by arguing against people with the condition, based off of what you said about your individual experiences. 🙄

its videos like this that show that all of us blind people experience the world differently. I hate it when people lump us into the same group. I once had a teacher insist that since her blind friend can read off a laptop with a magnifier then I must be able to as well. Just thought I would throw my experience with color down here. I was visually impaired from 3 till 12 years old, I was more towards the sighted side of the spectrum. I was able to see color but struggled with distinguishing similar colors. After the age of 12 I had a decent vision drop which affected my ability to focus light, which naturally affected my ability to see color. Colors had to be under bright light for me to be able to see it properly. A few years after that my vision got even worse, and I now could only really tell the diference between a light or dark color. I might be able to see a tinge of red or blue or something if the light is really good. But its been a year or two since I was able to properly see color. But this is the interesting part, I have a condition called synesthesia, there are a couple differnt forms of this look it up if your interested, but my form of it is that numbers, letters, words, names, and sometiems voices trigger a specific color in my mind. So if I think of 2 for example, I get a vivid red in my head. So even if I stop being able to see colors completely, I don’t think I’ll ever forget them. If you reached the end of this have a good day!

All of you guys seem so cool and fun and like you had fun talking!! Very interesting to hear how everyone perceives color differently based on experience. Also I want to adopt the lady in the back she seems like she would be like a cool artsy aunt 😂🥰

Wow, so fascinating! It never occurred to me that a person could "forget" colors after they've seen them. But I can kind of understand after several years. But still such a strange concept. Thanks for sharing.
