How Did You Happen to Get Snoopy, Charlie Brown? - A Peanuts Cartoon
Фильм және анимация
A fanmade Peanuts cartoon about the true story of Charlie Brown and Snoopy based on a strip written by Charles M. Schulz and using his wonderful characters.
I decided to create this animation because there isn't any canonical adaptation about the adoption of Snoopy. I just wanted to bring THE REAL STORY to the screen
The short is in black and white and it uses Schulz's artistic style from the 1950's in order to give it a "vintage" look.
We can also see a reference to a really early Peanuts strip in which Adults' legs appear in a golf field, as well as lots of other Easter eggs...
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did animating it.
I DO NOT OWN PEANUTS. PEANUTS IS OWNED BY PEANUTS WORLDWIDE LLC AND PEANUTS WAS CREATED BY CHARLES M. SCHULZ.

FLASH FACT: In the earliest 'Peanuts' comic strips, Snoopy wasnt owned by anyone, he was a neighborhood dog like Petey in Our Gang/Little Rascals.

I just seen a different twist on this one. Charlie Brown and Linus was at the farm and Charlie Brown found Snoopy. Linus found out someone else had gotten Snoopy but had brought him back. Charlie says, “well he’s my dog now”.

It's kinda crazy that you based an entire story out of only a few references in one strip from January 30, 1972. You gotta make more of these, bro.

In earlier strips, Charlie Brown was treated with a lot more respect until the late 1950s. At 7:02 the license plate reads 10-02-50, coincidentally, the date Peanuts premiered.
this is a great cartoon. almost cried twice when Charlie Brown was getting picked on and when he got snoopy.
As a massive fan of Peanuts since childhood, I absolutely LOVED this. I teared up a little at some parts! As a child, I grew up reading the comic strips and watching the tv specials, and the recent Peanuts Movie is one of my favorites. This is a wonderful animation and a great tribute to Sparky and his characters. Thank you so much. ❤️

I only remember the story of how Charlie Brown got Snoopy from the movie Snoopy Come Home. There was a scene where Charlie Brown and Linus were sitting under the tree and Charlie Brown was relating the story to Linus. According to Charlie Brown he was in the sandbox playing with a couple of kids. One of them for no reason dumped a bucket of sand on Charlie Brown's head. Charlie Brown then cried then his mother ran up and took him home. The next day Mr and Mrs. Brown took Charlie Brown to The Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. Then they bought him Snoopy.

Very sweet! A great tribute to a great comic strip! Love how you used the earlier Peanuts character style from the strip's very early years! Also loved how the story stayed true to the strip-Charlie Brown DID get Snoopy from The Daisy Hill Puppy Farm according to Charles Schulz! Keep up the wonderful work!
Around 2,300 views. That is extremely depressing, because this is better than any other fanmade Peanuts animation I've ever seen. You deserve SO much more attention. It's a great animation. I literally felt Charlie Brown's pain in the beginning (No, really. I almost cried), and it's charming when Charlie actually gets Snoopy. Keep up the good work. ^^

@@terrybardy2848 listen sweetie... sometimes "used" just means broken in or other times it means broken down and they need to be patched together with more love. Either way "used" is always USEFUL when it comes in the form of a rescue animal. They actually end up saving US many more times than WE end up saving them. Most of the time we didn't even truly realize how much we needed to them in our lives until they show up. YUP. THE extras nobody wants to adopt AND nobody can sell... THE discards... THE weirdos with strange habits OR quirks...the infirm... THE odd looking ones...the disabled... THE rejects... THE supposed "defective" ones right? YUP... those were mine too. Let me tell you something~ONLY ONCE I got a dog on a breeders contract. My dog was able to be registered in the AKC and also in Germany because so she was a German Shepherd FROM direct German breeding lines also. The agreement was that she was NOT to be bred until after she was OVER 1 1/2 YRS TO 2 YRS OLD. That way it's better for the puppies health AND her overall health. The stud owner gets pick of the litter & a little more than a fair split on an uneven number of pups. Mine were never going to be all sales because my intention was to keep at least one or two. Also

@@terrybardy2848 Also to do donations to different organizations. I come from a former WW2 Army veteran MP, other military branch members, firefighter, several 9/11 police officers, FEMA 1st responder family ok? So my intention always was to donate some of the puppies from each litter to the blind in honor of my grandmother. To the firefighters cuz they train them as arson dogs. The PD train them as search & rescue dogs, drug detection, and bomb squad dogs. There's not all places that allows our vets yo have THEIR COMBAT DOGS home but I advocate for that in every state. I'd decided if anyone wanted a dog who was a vet then it would be free for them if they couldn't navigate the red tape of getting too their combat dog. Our vets NEED DOGS....they are vital out behind the wire and to their mental state. They ARE at their highest level of being a companion animal. To take that away from a soldier is cruelty in my opinion. So NO it won't be their specific dog but at least it's A DOG that they can learn to rely on and love again and that's what I felt was important. That was a way to honor my father. The same goes with the firefighters and FEMA because he was involved both after the war. THE WORLD NEEDS DOGS! BUT not TO BUY THEM as its majority way of getting them into the arms of ppl who love them AND/OR give them a job THEY WILL be proud of themselves to do and where they'lldo the most good for US ALL. I used to take in rescues and supposedly untrainable dogs and retrain then do rehoming. Donate some bags of dog food after my home inspection to be sure YOU'RE LEGIT IN YOUR HOME for the dog and you can have it. Oh and EXPECT follow ups cuz I AM AUNT CHRISSY...I DO SHOW UP down your block every once in awhile. 😏 I'm not the 1 to just hand off a well trained dog to anybody & forget about it. When I retrain a dog out of its bad habits...ppl are adopting a guard dog. BUT in most cases they won't bark... they'll wait until the threat becomes more urgent. You don't want your neighbors to get too used to your dog barking at ppl passing by the home to protect it. You want its bark to draw THEIR attention more because it's a rare thing. ALL of them are trained with both regular verbal commands and hand signals. THIS is just in case the dog had been out at a park and is brought home and you're IN distress but forced to tell someone to say just let the dog in the house but you can't talk to to THEM right now. This is for captivity situations... so you CAN silently signal your dog to attack the intruder. That's the way my Dad trained all our dogs. We grew up in weapons in our home & at 1 time had a relative who was NYPD. BUT we didn't know how to use them & weren't licenced so myself, my mother, my other brother AND my elderly grandma were alone. He'd go out on fire calls at ALL hours of the day AND night so that's why our dogs were trained this way. 😏 Another weird thing~he NEVER called for our dogs if they were out... ONLY whistled & it was like a freaking train whistle! WE were all trained cuz he did it for US KIDS TOO! We'd be playing up at the schoolyard a block away. We'd hear that whistle and drop out bats and gloves and say gotta go cuz our Dad wants us LOL! Trust me older generation military men have THEIR own strict ways with some things and you'd better call in line HAHA! YES I make hospital corners on my bed and YES you can bounce a quarter off my sheets 😂

The date of the first peanuts strip!
I always thought Charlie Brown telling Linus the story of how Snoopy first came into his life was very moving when it was first told in the strip, and also in "Snoopy, Come Home". It was a very simple story that could have happened to any kid playing in any playground, but that was what made Charlie Brown someone with whom we could so easily identify. I love the way the story is beautifully brought to life here. Well done! I couldn't help noticing how CB is whistling the famous "Linus and Lucy" tune at 0:17. Nice touch! And the cash register at 8:06 instantly puts Pink Floyd's song Money in my head. Did anyone else find that?

You feel so much sadness, so much anguish, so much empathy for "Good Ole' Charlie Brown." “People buy pets for strange reasons.”
Snoopy is a little off from his original appearance. I mean ORIGINAL but, man, is the art style spot on for Charlie Brown. You did a really good job of capturing the appearance of the earliest strips. What fun about Snoopy is he started off as everybodies dog. Just a dog in the neighborhood that everyone liked and took care of. In a really early strip Snoopy actually comes running out of Shermy's house. I love this quote from the English language wikipedia article. It's about how Charlie Brown became Snoopy's owner: "In the September 20, 1980 strip, Charlie Brown comments that he once told Snoopy to "stay" and "he never went home.""
Thank you. This is beautiful work in every way!
Since the very first, I have love the Peanuts gang. The videos come out every Halloween and Christmas plus others I’ve collected through the years. This past Christmas I had collected enough ornaments to have a full size Peanuts Christmas tree. The family and friends loved it. Charles Schultz outdid himself when he created these lovable characters. Thank you for adding to the story. Snoopy pup is adorable and Charlie needed this🐶 friend 🐶
Thank you for sharing this and most of all for doing it in Schultz's original 1950's style of artwork.
This made my heart sad then happy. Bless you.
This is wonderful. You really captured the essence of these characters. Beautifully done.

Very nicely done. Thank you!
I got my Snoopy early summer of 1973 when a Beagle mother picked our house to have puppies under. When they were big enough she brought them out and I picked the cutest puppy ad my Snoopy. And he lived his whole life on the farm he was born on, free to come and go as he pleased, enjoy life and his human family.
That was beautiful man great job I love these kind of stories
Pablo Cartoonman, this was so charming and moving. Thanks very much for doing this!
The license on the car reads 10-02-50, the date of the first Peanuts strip.
Im sad😭 for charle he got bullyed
Snoopy was based on Schulz's childhood dog Spike and is actually the oldest character in the Peanuts canon, having appeared in his first published drawing in 1937 (a sketch of Spike), again in the very first panel of his that was published in February 1947, and then in the very first Lil' Folks comic that was published in June 1947. He's also one of the original Peanuts characters from 1950.
Like the attention to detail in this: the car reg is 10 - 02- 50, American English for 2nd October 1950, date of the first Peanuts strip. Like how this is in the style of the very early 50s strips too. An affectionate homage, well done sir!
This is just too beautiful.
