How did the Mongol Empire Collapse? (1259-1450)

In 1259, Mongke Khan's death led to a power struggle between his brother, Kublai, and younger brother Ariq Böke. The conflict splintered alliances and led to battles. Though Kublai emerged as Great Khan, the Mongol Empire fragmented. After Kublai's death, Mongol unity further deteriorated. By the 14th century, the Mongol Empire declined significantly. Internal conflicts, the Black Death, and economic troubles destabilized the khanates. Various successor states emerged from the once-unified empire, enduring for centuries after.

Great video. One thing to add is that the mongol Yuan dynasty lasted til 17th century until it was conquered by the Manchu Qing Empire. Ligdan Khans last efforts to resurrect the mongols failed and Nurhachi took over Mongolia. Despite this the descendants of Genghis were still kept as nominal rulers and nobility throughout the Qing dynasty. Mongols cavalry even served in the later Opium wars. Pretty impressive

I think the Mongol warfare was a novelty so many lost to them. Later as people learnt to counter them the surprise element was gone. You see this in their later defeats in Europe. Also Mumluk and their defeats in India at the hands of Turkic ruler Allahdin Khilji shows the main reason of their success was novelty and excellent Generals like Subatai etc.
