It might seem like an even greater coincidence, until you realize that if we were using a different numerative system (say octal instead of decimal), it would not appear so rounded. What I’m saying is, the chance that it’s 1.12.000 is exactly the same as if it would be 1.12.001, or any other time.

Yea, F1 channel had all the split times and the car camera views, but with this interpretation I can see where either car is stronger on which part of the track. Reckon Max is now gonna run with a little less wing during the race.

I mean, it's different. Here it's a top down view of the cars positions, on the F1 channel it's the POVs and realtime delta. Different but both good I'd say.

@@YouHaventSeenMeRight Ahh dang. KZread ate my comment. I was basically linking to the FIA's split times. Search f1 qualifying sector times canada 2024 and you'll find it on the FIA's website. At the start of the 2nd last straight, both were even for time. Russell pulled a 0.095s lead on Max. Out of the final corner, Max was 0.008 behind, but that gap was closing faster and faster down the final straight. On the back two "straights" (slightly curved) Max was just walking away from George. The fact that George pulled away from Max on that 2nd last straight just shows how huge the tow was. I do believe the RBR car is faster on the straight, but Mercedes really did strategise well to get the most benefit. I love how every member of the team contributes and such little things make a huge difference.

It seems correct; in the twisty kerb riding sections, he's slower. Sector 1 is made a bit better for him simply because of the high entry speed at the end of the straight before turn 1.

Your videos are awesome man. Nice job with this. Its surprising to me that this doesn't happen more often even within the mid pack. If you assume two drivers will have lap times within .1 seconds of each other, the chance of tying should be at least .5% I would think. Multiple that by 20 drivers for 23 races and I feel like it would happen several times a season within the field and once every few years for pole.

    17 күн бұрын

The latter, definitely. Why would setting a time of exactly 1.12.000 be any more special than setting a time of exactly 1.12.001? It took 72000 milliseconds in the 10-base numerative system with seconds being defined as “taking the fixed numerical value of the caesium frequency, ΔνCs, the unperturbed ground-state hyperfine transition frequency of the caesium 133 atom, to be 9192631770 when expressed in the unit Hz, which is equal to s−1”. But people don’t see or think about that.

That's one thing I really love about F1 and why I dislike Formular E: The cars in F1 are completely different. The Red Bull and the Mercedes share, apart from very few standard component because of FIA regulation, not a single screw. Two completely different approaches are able to compete on the highest level. None of them is able to pull a trigger and get much faster. They are on the limit. That's a competition I want to see. Not a race with 20 cars who look completely the same from the outside.
