Among Arab countries there are some leaders who are trying to show them selves as a main players politically but they are not, USA and the West is supporting them but still they are not able to gain the trust of there own ppl what do you think about the Arab world, these countries are QATAR and UAE.... the reason behind the fail is that Arabs not easy to be emotionally used. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jorfan and Kuwait are the most modest countries in Arab world with sincere leaders. Of course you will find the news always is against them to spoil there image. But they have gain the trust of thier own ppl. Thats why for example now for example Egyptians are going to elect President Sisi again. And in Saudia, Jordan and Kuwait the "arab spring" as they call didn't succeed.

Thank You Palki for this wonderful video. I was born in Alexandria in 1945 of an Italian mother and an Egyptian father and left Egypt in 1963 and settled in Australia. I have experienced some of those events whilst living there. Yes Alexandria was a melting pot of different nationalities and religions and we all accepted and respected one another regardless. We’ve enjoyed life in our native country,however,unforeseen circumstances have redirected a number of us to resettle in different parts of the world. You never forget your roots.

many of them arabized, egypt just like Palestininan, Moroccan, Libyan, Syrian, Lebanese, Sudanese, Tunisian, Algerian and Maltese are not Arab but arabized. ​​@@rockstarlifestyle9980 Rome for all it's glory is not ancient Egypt. Nowhere close, because ancient Egypt was among the four oldest human civilisations (it was likely the oldest of the four). For another there is no roman identity or culture, historians debate if that was ever a thing due to the vastness and diversity of the empire. There's no semblance of rome today which mistakenly people believe to be a European empire (which it wasn't). Egypt on the other hand exists as a nation state. There's an intact Egyptian identity linked with thousands of years old culture.

Unlike Pakistanis, the Egyptians have protected all the monuments of their non-Muslim ancestors. They haven’t broken down the temples and monasteries of their ancestors. They are well maintained and give tourist revenue. A Kashmiri laughingly told me that the Sun Temple in Kashmir (shown in Haider) is now in ruins and he and his friends go there now for smoking cigarettes. I told him that he should respect the beautiful monuments of his ancestors even if they belonged to a different religion to his current one. His face became like a burnt omelette within seconds.

In fact, not all antiquities here in Egypt are subject to attention and maintenance. There are thousands and thousands of remains of temples, statues, and mosques from different eras, and their condition is very bad and does not receive any kind of restoration.

Excellent and accurate analysis, as an Egyptian who grew up in Egypt in the sixties and seventies, I can attest to the dynamism and versatility of the society, I have been watching the decline living in diaspora for decades, one thing though, never count Egypt out, the resilience of the people is so strong and they’ll find a way. Long live Egypt 🇪🇬

I lived in Egypt for 8 years, did high school in late 1990s and university there in early 2000s - Egyptians used to say Egypt is the mother of the world, the media and soft power there was live and well, even Syrians, Iraqis and other Arabs I met there, would say the same thing about Egypt. But things have changed dramatically for the country since the Arab spring

Incorrect! Egypt has been on a declining path for SEVERAL DECADES !! This is what happens when your nation is being led by dogs! The only thing Mubarak did properly was ensure food / fuel / energy subsidies, so normal average Egyptians wouldn't suffer! You can say goodbye to all of that! Good thing you escaped.

Just to add something: Mohammed Ali Pasha was so influential at his prime that he, along with his son Ibrahim Pasha, had almost toppled Ottoman Sultan's regime in the 1830s if it wasn't for Britain's intervention. He had expanded the Egyptian boundaries and encircled the whole of Sudan within it. If Ibrahim hadn't died in his early age, the face of Egypt would've been different today. PS. This was one of the best Flashback episodes ever. Those familiar with Middle East history would know.

@harshanand9329 Ottoman in the 1800s was surviving because Britain et al wanted it to survive. Mainly because the shortest route to India fell under Ottomans so they didn't want any disruptions. Second, a pro-British Sultan was better at keeping the French at bay. Third, Ottoman Empire acted as a buffer between the Russians and the rest of Europe. Thus, for Britain, conquering the empire was more expensive than letting it survive.

You name it.. we use the help of foreign companies to extract those resources but the problem is they take huge shares in exchange for extraction which can sometimes reach up to 50%!!

Fanstatic presentation! Nasser is one of the best orators in world politics history. He read the street like a book, truly a communication master. Sadat was a religious person and according to his wife he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in his youth. His assassins mostly underscored his Western orientation in terms of cultural and evolving diplomatic relations . Sadat successfully kicked out the Soviet advisers, got back Sinai and became an American ally. The peace treaty with Israel was a minor issue for his assassins. Palki I am in love 😊

Thank You so much for this video. I'm a Dominican 🇩🇴 Hispanic who recently met an Egyptian guy who painted my house. He's an older guy who has family from Egypt who is a diabetic around his late 50s/60s. Does painting as his job. He knows about the Israel 🇮🇱 Palestine 🇵🇸 conflict. He's aware of the Palestinians leaving Gaza for Egypt 🇪🇬 border. His country went to war with Israel 🇮🇱. In the 1980s he went to Iraq 🇮🇶 and had a job there when Saddam Hussein was president and this was when they had the war with Iran 🇮🇷. While his family was in Egypt 🇪🇬. Even he was telling me that Saddam was a good guy but in the United States they thought he was bad because they thought he was behind 9/11 attacks but it was Al Qeada & Osama bin laden in Afghanistan 🇦🇫 I'm aware about the history of Egypt 🇪🇬. And England 🇬🇧 had colonized Middle East from Egypt 🇪🇬 and Israel 🇮🇱 Syria 🇸🇾 & Jordan 🇯🇴. All those countries had independence from England 🇬🇧 in 1948 after WW2. Which led to beginning of series of Arab Israeli wars from 1948 onwards and I knew about President Nassir and Sadat in Egypt 🇪🇬. That guy can tell me all day about history of Egypt 🇪🇬 and his days when he worked in Iraq 🇮🇶 in 80s. My family is from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and I'm Christian. My mom had a friend that went to Tel Aviv Israel 🇮🇱 last year. Jordan 🇯🇴 civil war 1970 Black September with Syria 🇸🇾 & Palestinians PLO with King Hussein of Jordan 🇯🇴 who was President there for 40 years. I'm well aware about Middle East history WW2- President & Egypt 🇪🇬 but the guy was telling me how good his country's military and economy are. I know the Russians helped Egypt's military during the Arab Israeli wars which he told me all of that. Then Egypt 🇪🇬 peace treaty allowed them to take back Sinai region which was occupied by Israel 🇮🇱 when they won 1967 Six day war. This video explains very well egypt's history.

She talked about dialects and the small book we had for the class explaining languages differ from dialect. I'm Spanish and Dominican 🇩🇴, Dominican Spanish dialect is different from Cuba 🇨🇺 & Mexico 🇲🇽 Argentina 🇦🇷 Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 etc.

The Egyptian media is still the most popular in the arab world, Egypt is the strongest Arab military by far. and Egyptian dialect is the most popular.

Saudi media is probably the most powerful thanks to MBC and AL arabiya and whatnot with Al Jazeera in qatar being the biggest news channel in the region. Egypt's judiciary and legal community were second to none in Europe and they ruled the country till 1952. They were the ones who established its liberal life and made the country a cosmopolitan heaven to all cultures. That all ended with the military republic that has ruled Egypt since 1952 as they struggled to adopt a nationalist, populist, and religious identity. Egyptians now look at their past with grief as they see neighboring Arab countries become vibrant and their country in decline. But many believe that something big is about to happen in the upcoming years as the new generations (Millennials & Generation Z) are becoming more and more aware of their past and present and more frustrated with the political and religious status quo of the country.

I just love Palki. This is more than just reporting and journalism.

British did not leave after 40 years of 1882 but after 74 years in 1956. Nasser did not spell Jews out of Egypt, Jewish Immigration Agency performed a lot of efforts and terrorism conspiracies to immigrate Jews to Israel (like operation Suzanna)

I am Egyptian and I am from Alexandria. You're right! Alexandria was a cosmopolitan city. Nasser destroyed Alexandria by the way.

Nasser is a major reason for the economic collapse Egypt is in today. At his time he had a people hungry for industry and prosperity, soft power, and a globally influential civilization. But he did not take advantage of these factors to stabilize the region and support the neighboring Arab countries that had just gained independence. Quite the opposite, his speeches were always against Arab leaders to influence the people until they turned against their leaders, which made Nasser appoint Arab leaders as puppets for him. His speeches were hostile to America, despite its support for him in his war with France, Israel, and UK. He challenged the American base in the region, “Israel,” at the same time as he was trying to overthrow the Saudi regime and waging a war in Yemen, as if he has a Hitler army ! He got into trouble with the Syrians after the unification of Egypt and Syria as a United Arab country over who would lead. Nasser is a charismatic leader who gained 70-80% of the Arab world, but he is a failed political leader who bankrupted his country in needless wars to prove that he is a tough leader in front of the cameras.

Thanks for this review of Egypt’s recent history. I was pleased to see the recognition that Gamal Abdul Nasser was the first native (i.e, Black) ruler of Egypt in 2,500 years. Amazing how much Egypt is coveted by the West and the Arabic World.

Egypt in 2,500 -2023 = CE 477 year those were still invaders coming in. The ancient Kemet native goes back in 5000/4000 were indigenous black African they migrated at that time. The people at 477 were people that came from desert and the mix of invaders. Looking at all the statues, painting and black figurines with cornrows,dreadlocks, waves and Afros. You don't see none of those images. All you need to do is look at the Nubians building pyramids in the Nile Valley, who shared the same culture as the Egyptians. Among the oldest people on earth, Africans are the ones whose history and empires they are attempting to erase and take away and claim to make money. Not going happen!

Nasser was not black. Sadat was black, his mother was of Sudanese origin (her father was Egyptian, and her mother was Sudanese).

Let me correct you in some points, in yom Kepor Egypt fully won and destroyed Israeli army and the plan is now taught as magnificent prattle until the Americans entered the war in the third week with all their power as they do now in Palestine. So don’t compare tiny Israel or other tiny neighbouring countries to the great Egypt that stayed the moral super power of the world for 2600 years. The French invaded Egypt twice and got defeated and in the first time their king was captured as POW. The British , the Ottoman also invaded and were kicked out and still trying till now. Jenkez khan army was defeated by Egypt in Alin Galut battle which is in Palestine now. Notice that the Mongol empire ended few years later after they got defeated in Egypt. The British empire ended after they failed in invading Egypt again in 1956. Egypt has the oldest army in the world, the army that fought 993 battles. Egypt in its way to become the great empire again, 100 or 200 years are nothing in the history of a country that extends more than 10000 years. Egypt is still the movie and arts hub of Middle East not just the Arab. All Arab singers go to Egypt to become famous. Everyone is escaping to Egypt when their countries collapsed and that was a plan to overwhelm Egypt. Egypt is aware of it and will prevail as always. Also Egypt did not expel Jews or others. The system changed to a socialist system that provoked the immigration of capitalists of all races not just Jews including even some native Egyptians and that was the biggest mistake president NASER did. President Sadat’s biggest mistake is opening the doo r to Muslim brotherhood. You can’t pet scorpions. They killed him and Egypt is still suffering their evil actions against Egypt and other countries till now. They are they roots of Alida, Hamas, Isis and many others. President Mubarak wasn’t a corrupt one. He was honest and trustworthy, only haters and enemies of Egypt who claim that. The majority of the Egyptians regards him for guarding Egypt of many disasters. They recognize him now even after he died. You will also see lots of people who hate the current president even though without him Egypt would have become like the neighbouring destroyed countries like Libya and Syria. This is how the new generation of war are launched. So do not be a tool for this war. Most of you information are taken from fake news as President Trump named them. You should take a trip to Egypt to see that it actually advanced better than many western nations. Go talk to Egyptians and see the country before you spread information that are not fully correct. Nobody is perfect and no superpower stay for ever. The world will be a better place when war mongers get defeated which is happening right now.

ISIS is not arab!. They are immegrants (mostly Saudis, Americans, Russians etc.). Its a militant group that has nothing do to with Islam or the arab world. They were created by the soviet and USA in 1970s-80s

Religion and state affairs should always be separated.
