The Dark Reaper worked by harvesting the Force using the Force Harvester, a device that killed anything within range by draining its Force energy and focusing it into beams that dealt massive damage to any object. However, the Reaper could not harvest a wound in the Force. The Reaper was also equipped with dark side-powered turbolasers. In order to defeat the Dark Reaper, an ancient Jedi Knight named Ulic Qel-Droma taught the Jedi how to withstand the Dark Reaper's effects. (The reaper can not harvest a wound in the force.) The dark reaper is weaker then Nihilus and the Jedi even the sith learned how to withstand not immune to the effects of the dark reaper not Nihilus, who's force drain is different.

I'm always down for another Darth Nihilus video from you guys. I'm just now getting into the Lore of the Old Republic, and this really helps!

I'm surprised you managed to find this much information in regards to Nihilus's life. It's most difficult to come by, but when the slightest measure escapes the cold of obscurity it makes me feel as if I had found valuable secrets

i heard this too, i also read that after his death his mask was stolen by smugglers and a sith acolyte tried to recover it, when she succeded it is unclear where the mask ended up, nihilus holocron is in a sith temple on korroban and his mask is out there somewhere too, thats the reason how darth krayt managed to summon his spirit just to be deemed unworthy of beeing a sith by nihilus lol, even in the cannon timeline nihilus is around, it takes only one man to put on the mask so nihlus spirit can take over that new host and all the terror beginns from a new

@@rossicourvosi218 yeah only if they did it right. No worse way writing an making it then they did with the Original 1st 3 episodes trilogy. But anything Original Trilogy (eps 4-6) to say Rogue One ish or so should result in something spectacular or even promising. An since theres nothing hardly known about WHOM he was just that he ONCE was Good an well liked an all totally opposite to what he'd become as a Sith an that he was a dude. About ANYONE even a totally no one could be cast to play him too. All they gotta be able to do as start off as a great anything but bad guy like described an then be able to make us feel pretty uneasy even creeped out or in a real sense of dread an/or fear/danger with them in character on a screen an they got it. They can even just about make up alot of his powers an fighting style of remember since other then the games an some books I think that's not been too flushed out either

To be fair, nihilus and vitiate are both barely sith at all. When vitiate hits his full power he kind of stops bothering being sith, and Nihilus seems to become almost just a force of nature than a full sith, who’s controlled by his power. He can’t resist it. Personally though, I don’t think Sidious should be considered more powerful than people like nihilus or even some of the bosses in swtor. It would make his death unrealistic as some of those guys would just…float back up. I think it’s better to see him merely as the most powerful at the time.

@@firstnamelastname9237 I Always Assume Darth Sidious was the Most Powerful, by simply being the Only Sith to Conquer the Republic when non other before him manage such a task. Which he never truly did Alone, without Plagues or Vader he wouldn't have gone half an inch.

@@TwiceStruck A lot of that came down to good strategy and patience. Movie wise, Sidious only needed to win or avoid one fight (yoda) as he lost to windu, but anakin saved him, something that could have happened whether or not he was powerful. I think the triumvirate got pretty close to fully wiping out the jedi. They’d steamrolled the republic and jedi into almost certain failure, just trying to kill jedi. And Vitiate’s eternal empire rocked both the sith and republic, but again, he was really no longer sith by that point.

@@sisigs4820 Sort of. But if we only go by “trying to become as powerful as possible” as sufficient to be called sith. Anakins was sith before he even went dark side. Many Hutts would probably also count as sith, along with Grievious who did the same (even if the reason for it was to in turn kill more jedi).

Darth Nihilus is my favorite definitely

I find very interesting how, in the end, Nihilus, Sion, the Exiled, and even Kreia in her own way (after being one of her students), are all children of Revan, and Revan's actions : the children of war. Maybe the Jedi were not so dumb when they chose not to intervene (their mistake was to do nothing, not to refuse to get into the war). Because the Mandalorian War was a ttrick from the Sith : not just undermining the economy and the military strenght of the Republic, but planting a seed. Vitiate knew war was an opportunity for the darkside in itself, because it comes with tragedies, loss, sorrow, anger, hate. Revan just pushed it to an another level with the mass shadow generator. The Sith succeeded greatly. But there was something they had not foreseen : Kreia was too clever not to draw all the conclusions and saw a chance to use Revan's actions' consequences to destroy the Force itself

"I sense great rage in you." Darth Nihilus obviously gets his name from Nihilism, but he would be a perfect candidate for a Red Lantern Ring in Green Lantern Comics in DC and reminds me in a way of Gorr the God Butcher from Thor Comics in Marvel.

Your lore videos are amazing. I haven't really had the motivation to read any novels for a while, even though I used to always have a book in hand. But, your videos make me feel like I don't even need to do any reading. The way you set the tone paired with the ominous background music makes for a pretty entertaining and perhaps even "immersive" experience, for lack of a better word.

With nihilus i think it is more the lore that makes him so fascinating. Hes kinda like legends broly in dbz. Raw power at its core but its so strong he never really had learned from it or maybe even hubris. Not actually thinking he needed more. And as the master said in the vid. Lol Nihilus didn't really study or learn to b more sith until after he/malachor died and his loss turned to hunger. The hunger being the only thing that relieved the pain. He wasnt pushing for the sith to win. I dont thnk he cared at all. His reasoning for eating worlds was to sustain himself, acting out of pure selfishness. Honestly due to the increasing hunger i really dont think even if he beat the exile, time wasnt on his side. Even if he ate the whole galaxy, not including out rim and uncharted areas he probably wouldn't have survived all the way to the Skywalker era. Eventually there woud b no nore for him to consume and probably fade away to nothing, like how he left countless worlds.

I wish the sequels followed a KOTOR II path and made Rey a Wound in the force, bring Nihilus back to life through his mask still keeping his spirit. So much potential it makes me sad we will never see anything cool like that

I just would really like some more knowledge about a few things. 1. What does force drain do specifically and how does it work in the case of Nihilus ( if you were near him ) 2. How is he overrated because me personally, I find it hard to say that when a character doesn't have much spotlight in live action, etc 3. When it comes to his lightsaber skills, which character would you compare his dueling skills as the most comparable?

1. it's pretty much what Sidious did to Rey and Kylo in episode 9. its not about being near him, its about him reaching out and literally breaking your force shield/barrier that every jedi and Sith has and just pulling/draining ALLL of your essence and force energy from out of you, consuming it to make himself more powerful and in the case of Nihilus, weaker, as every time he would feed, he became a slave to the hunger. 2. never heard of him being overrated, but my guess is he only appeared in one game and not much is known about him besides what treya tells us so probably just a bunch of people fanboying over him and people getting annoyed calling him overrated. 3. that's the thing we probably know least of as again, he only shows up in that one game which was so old the animations don't really mimic any specific forms or anything. in legends however, he was said to use form DCLXVI or Atra-Manua. a very niche defensive form created by a jedi, supposedly one of the hardest forms to master, the jedi that made it fell to the dark side and never taught anyone it in fear that it'd be used against him. nihilus was definitely more of a force user than a duelist, as he could even drain planets of their life for him to feed, he's pretty much like galactus from Marvel but a Sith lmfao. he was decent with a Saber, but what made him, well him, were his force abilities.

@@Dezzyyy For his lightsaber form, I did notice that he holds the lightsaber with Two hands and sometimes with one, but when he swings, he often swings with one hand, it kind of reminds me of Dooku's style. He must be using a hybrid between a Two hand and one hand style.

@@Dezzyyy if i'm not wrong Nihlius was the only sith to master the red lightining, the most powerfull lightning to exist, not even sidious had it, and i think that his drain was aura based not concentration, just by standing near him you would get drained cuz as kreia said, its something he cant control, the only think he can control when he concentrates on is not to drain a specific target, thats the reason how visas marr was able to be near him and not get drained

Its actually pretty simple. He did 100 Lightsaber swings, 100 Forcepushes, 100 Forcelightnings und ate 10 planets every day. Thats how he became so strong.

The Sith need the dark side, like the lightside need the Jedi.. but the darkside does not need the sith and this is proven by the wound in the force story and Nillis. This is the true disadvantage of the power of the darksides corruption is shown it is also the reason why the more powerful Sith can not win and likewise the less powerful Lightside can't win either.. its an eternal struggle...although oneside can win the battle niether can win the war. the brighter the light the darker the dark. I would like to direct you to do some more research as to how many times the Sith won Compared to just how lucky the jedi got from time to time or home many of them it took to beat just one Sith.

Mask of nihilus is easier to wear , so much harder to remove, i believe it's nihilism,draining emotions and passion from individual till they are a husk of their former self losing the living force and then the mask of nihilus finds another host ,i still believe the Darth lives in his own twisted immortality just draining life force as he's a sith who doesn't care about any teaching or material things

Nihilus didn't necessarily have a hatred towards Jedi. He/it would eventually feast on ANY force user whether it be Sith or Jedi

Kreia was right. The universe would be better off without the Force, light or dark.

Don't forget that Nihilus was weaker than ancient sith, which means he's weaker than Exar Kun, Revan, Vitiate, Bane, Zannah, Plagueis, Palpatine, Dooku, Maul, Vader etc

@@zeroblacksun Maul is more powerful and faster, Nihilus will need time to drain the life out of him, especially considering that Maul can interrupt this process by force-pushing him away. Maul is best duelist and if he can get close, then he can finish Nihilus pretty quick.

Source? Kotor 2 never said he was weaker. In fact many characters admitted in kotor 2 that the more life Nihilus consumed he became more powerful... Kreia even said that his power would "rival" the ancient siths so your wrong he's not weaker.

Eh, Nihilus was brittle. Even after absorbing a planet of force users. He still couldn't sustain his own existence without having to absorb more.

It’s debatable, but I think Nihilus is more powerful than Vitiate, and the Mortis Gods. Still he’s not the most powerful in all of the EU.

A feat similar to Vitiate, but it makes him a superior being to Sidious. The Mortis Gods aren’t even cable of that. He only lost due to him gaining so much power it crippled his body, and it was too much for him. Nihilus isn’t overrated, you’re just a hater of him and you’re reply is the only overrated thing here.

@@TheAncientSith alot of sith lord could drain life of planets naga sadow and freedon nadd are both confirmed to be star 🌟 booster, nihiluis is overrated he doesn't possess as many abilities skills and raw force power than others sith lord exar kun would one shot him.

@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 While Exar Kun could match Nihilus in Lightsaber skills, he doesn’t stand a chance in force abilities. I’m far from a Nihilus fan, but he’s seriously one of the most powerful beings. Even though Darth Nihilus can one shot almost all the Sith we talk about, there are certain beings he can’t match like the Bedlam Spirits which can one shot any character in the EU. Nihilus still one shots Sidious, Exar Kun, and could potentially beat Vitiate, and the Mortis Gods.

He wasn't the most powerful with the force all he has is his draining ability, even naga sadow was more powerful than nihiluis

He's only a sith by name. He's a wound in the force like a force monster. Although He's not as powerful as like Vitiate or Sidious, he's no slouch and his force drain ability is the strongest its ever been. If you can get past it He's pretty easily defeatable.

@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 I think that's theoretical. Meetra only was able to resist it due to her being a similar wound in the force. I think that only extremely strong beings like Palpatine ,Vitiate and Exar Kun could possibly.

Great story but the artwork showing him with braids was truly awful.
