Coach Nick took a deep dive into the footage from last year's Lakers under Byron Scott to compare it to what is happening this year. The young core in D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, and now Brandon Ingram should all find more success this year.

    Yeah no tanking this year, this team can legitimately compete. I know it's early and I'm not going to get to caught up in the 20pt win over GS, but it's VERY encouraging to see. The scary party is at 3-3 we have a lot to clean up and only going to get better. 25 wins? This team may get to 40..

    I feel like D'Angelo Russell will be an All-Star not a superstar because of how slow he is. I don't like how Randle/Clarkson rarely passes it to the wing to Ingram. Chemistry is def. a huge problem if you've been watching their games. I don't see this team winning a Championship tbh so I hope Mitch trades D'Angelo for a pick this year. Ingram has all the tools to become a superstar but hasn't been getting opportunities to show it at the NBA level. Ingram plays better at the PG position like Giannis Ant. and he's usually forced to create his own shot which makes me kind of upset since we're suppose to "play like a team" like D'Lo always says but haven't seen. Ingram has shot 8/18 in his first 3 games. D'Angelo shot 11/30 in his first 3 games as a Rookie so D'Angelo (17/50 FG this year) is looking like Kobe in his last year but worst so people have to stop saying "but Kobe hogged the ball" because D'Angelo is the one hogging the ball now. COACH PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON why D'Angelo and Ingram won't mix well together. LAKERS FUTURE: Ingram, Randle, Clarkson, Top 3 Pick this YEAR.

    Brandon Xavier Ingram so your solution is to trade russel for a pick? But what if that pick turns out to be a bust do we trade him for a pick also? Laker fans need to be patient trading a player is not the solution all the time. I say stick with russel and if he doesn't work out in 2 more years then you could trade him.

  • @brandonxavieringram1457

    @brandonxavieringram1457

    7 жыл бұрын

    No, my solution is to get a more humble pick that is willing to share the ball and not shoot 14+ a game and be OK with it (SF or C) but if that pick is a PG then more with quickness because I thought Russell would be like a James Harden but I watched some footage and Harden is much quicker than Russell (past & present). I only say to trade him now because of the players in this year's draft (De'Aaron Fox, Bam Adebayo, Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, etc.) and trade him now since he still has some value. This year will be IMO what will determine our future if we don't take a risk.

    Challenging Minnesota for the best young core & building a contender from the ground up - the Lakers will definitely be fun to follow this season. What i'm fantasizing about in the next few years:- D'Angelo Russell: more athletic Steve Nash (from the Mavs era) Jordan Clarkson: smaller Westbrook Brandon Ingram: shorter Durant Julius Randle: stronger (but shorter) Lamar Odom Larry Nance Jr: more athletic (but just as solid as) Luke Walton That's gonna be a crazy small-ball unit right there in the future, i pray!

    I think DLO can be an all-star caliber player but he won't be because there are too many guards in the west. Maybe in 5 years. His athleticism is more than adequate. He isn't the fastest, but has great handle. And I think he will work on quickness as time progresses. That will help alot, and he will soon be great

    Ι watched 60 or so games last year....the main issue wasnt losing, it was obvious they had to tank, but the overall lack of direction...when you start 19 and 20 year olds, they gonna mess up. The frustrating thing was seeing byron just standing there hands crossed saying or doing nothing... you can lose and its fine when you teach them how to play, how to be competitive...last year was all just a marketing strategy to have kobe take 20 shots, make 6, talk about his career and that was it...the lakers will be much better this year.

    Unlike last year I am legitimately excited about what I see on the court by the Lakers. last year I knew we had talented players but felt it was more a theory than reality. now we are starting to really see that talent come out. we are missing something. really if Ingram can turn into a strong 3 option particularly if he becomes a stopper (unlikely) the Lakers are ready to tear up the league in the next three years.

    Not sure the Lakers need another pick, they're already loaded with young talent. Would be very interesting to see what they would do with it seeing how they already have their future PG, SG, SF, and PF.

    Thanks coach @bballbreakdown As a casual basketball player, watcher, and long time laker fan, this video was very encouraging and as always very enjoyable to watch. yes kobe is one of the all time greats. but imagine what could have happened during last 2 years, 24 million $ per year and focused development of these young guns. both Kobe and the team management definitely did not look into the setting up the future (definitely money and politics). This year's positives should have happened from 2 years ago. Did kobe deserve the money? maybe. I think I would have more respect for kobe if he had vet's minimum and had the lakers use the money elsewhere. He says he loves the team and bleeds purple and gold, well his actions didn't speak the same words.

    they are better because they all watched kobe played up close, you can see they are playing with a fire that even some better team don't have, I am just happy they got the mentality right early, it is gonna help them a lot in their career.

    I don't know if Mitch would allow Luke to tank the season just to keep the pick. He has said in several interviews that the record must be way better and that being lotto picks there should be higher expectations pertaining to Brandon Ingram and Russell. Although I love the idea of picking 1-3 next year's talented draft class I have more than enough reason to think that they're gunning for more than 17 wins this season. Add the fact that if they do not receive the 3rd or higher pick they automatically lose it and the odds seem to be stacked against them in keeping the pick.

    Yeah if ever they keep the pick, it'd be a huge asset although I feel like the core is already set amd picking from the likes of Harry Giles, Fultz, Jackson, Smith Jr would just create a logjam as those projected top players play the same position as with their core already. What I wouldn't mind getting is 2018's top overall selection it'd give them a once in a generation type of talent in Deandre Ayton. What do you think of Ayton - is he the next great prospect ala Joel Embiid?

    Wow, watching Kobe in this offense reminds me of watching Melo on the Knicks this. Obviously, Melo of today is a way better player than Kobe was in 2015, but it really does suck when a player stops the offense by holding onto the ball.

    they need a real leader thats all. someone that can lead not only by exemple off the court but also on the court. A consistant scorer someone that can share the ball. A lebron james type. the same way shaq embrace the new lakers in 96 we need someone to rely on sometimes in the offense event. Harden or westbrook would be perfect in this young team. too bad

    Wait until the NBA gets a load of Zublocka. The young man needs minutes. Black is the player he is at this moment, a good P&R roller but he can't rm protect play a few feet from the basket. Zubac can play away from the basket and is ahead of where I thought he would be as a rim protector. He can learn the P&R part on court. Play the young man Luke.
