Making $3000 on a $40k watch looks a lot, but you still have to service it first and get it at the customer plus you have the capital risk if something goes wrong. So IMHO it definitely is not a lot.

To be honest, while I only buy authentic watches, if an individual wants to knowingly buy a rep watch, let them. It's their waste of money.

I have bought super replicas of my Rolexes. I can tell them apart, but nobody else can, including my wife. I wear the replicas when I’m traveling or worried about damaging the originals. They keep decent time too. I’ve had one replica for 5 years and it only loses about 7 seconds a day, compared to 5 seconds on the genuine.

If its THAT hard to spot a real watch from a fake one. 30.000 vs. 300 Then id say the watch game is OVER.

LOL if that's the case then why are Rolex watches often selling for double their retail price on the used market? On top of that Rolex watches are in such demand that it is next to impossible to buy the majority of their models new at an authorized dealer despite the fact that they are making approximately 1 million watches per year. The luxury watch market is stronger than ever which is why people are even willing to buy fakes. A fake might look almost identical but doesn't come close to a real Rolex in regards to the performance and durability of their movements.

@@brendanosullivan771 I hear you and i agree. I phrased that a bit wrong. The watch game (as in trade) is fine. It's just a but confusing to me because the watches are handled as investments, yet all the selling points have to do with the appearance. The functionality of a watch to me, has more value in my case, where i would go through like 100 burner Rolexi, scattering them all over, fogetting them on planes and buses. Then id still have the cash to drive a Toyota Corolla untill infinity(minus gas and insurance) --edit-- And everybody would still be like YOO you seen Denzel rock yet another different Rolex that looks fake in no way.

@@bxfinest271 That’s marketing nonsense. You can watch Jacob & Co watches be hand assembled in 30 minutes on KZread. They’re substantially more complicated than Rolex movements. Rolex makes roughly a million watches a year. Switzerland had roughly 5m working-age citizens (15-64 years of age). If it took a year to make each watch, Rolex would have to employ 20% of Switzerland to assemble their watches. In reality, Rolex only has 14,000 employees worldwide. That’s their corporate executives, watch servicing department, marketing, design, etc.

They don't make a lot of money considering the outlay. I sell motorcycles and make as much as them on a 15K investment.
