Hmmm not reeeally... I've worked in a call center as a supervisor and would take calls that my agents couldn't deescalate or satisfy the customers issue. You get randomly sent to the next available agent in the next available city that has the shortest call cue that also has the quickest turn around time on each call. It's simply a shell game shuffling calls in an attempt to not only get you off the phone as soon as possible, but also to try to sell you any additional products or services with the hope that we leave you "happy" and keep you from calling again.

A lot of python libraries are C or C++ native. Python is just convenient glue. The real power is found in the cloud with algos from Google, Microsoft, Amazon or IBM and again the python would just be glue. You can use a shell script to feed an AI.. er algo.. and get meaningful results.

Another great episode. Thanks for sharing these valuable information.
Great video. Informative and in depth. Good stuff.
I must say sir, you certainly know how to make an interesting, surprising and even scary video. The idea of us being monitored and predicted by algorithms is fascinating yet somewhat scary, but not surprising in this day and age. We are constantly monitored by computers and electronic devices, for example, the U.K. is in possession of over 20% of the world's CCTV, nuff said
I would love a video about space travel.
many thanks! i was going mad literally today i noticed some items on gumtree in the suggested lists that only the day before i was chatting about over the phone! and i never actually searched or queried online.. open your eyes!! thanks uploader!
I used to work in a call centre, and they started recording their calls after people who worked there had stolen heaps of money from the company by claiming that customers had said yes to products they actually didn't want, and then reaping the commissions as well as getting bonuses for their "high" sales rates, at the same time as the company got a huge backlash from angry customers who were sent, and asked to pay for, products they never wanted. I ended up being one of the actual "quality assurance" workers, who sat all day listening to phone calls to see to it that not only people wouldn't cheat, but also that they would treat the customers respectfully and be truthful with them. Mind you, being a sales representative is very stressful (customers can be extremely rude and even violent when they don't see the face of who they're talking to, every single day at least one of my coworkers ended up crying and going home due to death/rape threats and such) and we had a lot of single mothers working there (some as young as eighteen!) who truly needed the money, so I understand how tempting it was to cheat this way. Without the commissions you're only earning minimum wages. But after we started recording the calls, as well as being given some more sales coaching and stuff, we started having much more qualitative sales and in fact, the real sales, as well as customer satisfaction, had a huge increase. Lying doesn't pay in the end! (TL:DR: no, phone calls aren't just recorded for the sake of algorithms and data collection, there's sometimes actual people such as myself sitting down and listening to these calls and seeing that everything is done correctly, and for a good reason too! It's a SUPER BORING job, btw!!)
How do you get the clips for these videos? Do you just google girl typing on laptop, Guy on his phone, or People walking down street or is it something else?

Thanks for new video. Usually in order to speak to someone at a call center, I have to use an automated menu, which may resolve any issue or answer my questions. But if I need to speak to real human being, I usually have to make no less than 20 menu selections. It would be nice if the algorithms said, "Oh, this customer rarely has a question or problem, and has already tried everything in our menu, so I'm going to connect her to a human."

Software engineer here...Yeah, um, most of these algorithms really kind of suck still. And humans are absolutely able to predict oscars better than a diceroll; that's silly. And the police algorithms are massively overhyped. They basically just spit out "You should go where crimes have happened in the past". Tons of research remains to be done on how effective they are, and what research there is indicate that it only works kind of "meh". And it's *really* difficult to generate a good algorithm for threat-scoring. machine learning is extremely susceptible to developing implicit racial bias; similar to how detection dogs can get false positives based on race if not trained properly. Same thing with sentencing algorithms; there's decent evidence that those things are super racially biased. And NSA doesn't collect information on US persons outside of metadata, unless they are communicating with a non-us person. Domestic stuff would be the FBI's wheelhouse. And thanks to the 4th amendment rights on search & seizure, they can't collect anything that isn't public without a warrant. "Humans don't have access to these billions of data points" OK, that's just nonsense. If your algorithm has access to information, than a human could potentially have access. There are some circumstances where algorithms are better at processing relationships than a human analyst, and algorithms can do it much faster. But humans can still do this stuff, and they have been for decades.
