Yes, all breeds are different to their adaptation of the outside. I have 2 small dogs. One is very fluffy and loves the outdoors but I have to manage his time outside because of the heat. My other small dog does not like being outside at all. Does not like any weather conditions.

You should specify on breeeds. The larger the breed usually the better they will handle. I’m from the yukon and we have a heated shelter for our black lab and he only comes in when it’s below -40 celcius.

All breeds are vastly different and there are so many breeds now. One of the dogs I have is only 12 lbs but loves to go in the snow, rain, cold, sun. He just loves being outside in general. The other dog I have is the same size and she will not go outside unless it is to potty and she wants to come right back in. My weather on Texas is slightly different from the northern weather for sure.

You join him out there? 😄 My last lab was like this. He was why I acclimated to bitter cold weather. He was like hey its hiking time every day. I prefer Winter for this reason. He would jump into any non-frozen water source. That I didn't do, lol. All the ice crystals that formed on his coat just sparkled. He was a happy lab! So, I can picture your lab enjoying the winter climate. Probably channeling his ancestors. Just watch his feet for cracking.. Make sure he has a water source. Dogs can get dehydrated in the cold.

I by no means am an expert, that is why I interview the experts but I would bring him in when it is cold outside. I have 2 dogs. One is a chihuahua and one is a mixed breed bulldog with long hair. My chihuahua hates to go outside but my mixed breed loves the snow, rain, etc. I do not leave him out all the time. I let him go play outside and then bring him back in. I remember when I was little and my mom would tell me to come in to warm up from playing in the snow. I didn’t want to come in but my mom knew that I needed to warm up.

This Texan actually prefers the cold weather. I am hoping to go to college in Alaska. That said, I have a dog that is husky/bulldog mix, Max, and I have a short chihuahua, Gigi. Each of these dogs handle the cool weather differently. Max prefers all weather. No matter if it is snowing, sleeting, raining or the sun is shining. He loves to be outside. Where as, Gigi, prefers the comfort of home no matter the weather.
