This is EXACTLY the chess tutorial I needed in my life... I can't do anything without understanding what, who and why I am doing it, that's why I always found chess daunting... But now that I have a better history behind the pieces it gives my imagination room to play around with them! Thank you so much! Super underrated tutorial

For a more extensive explanation on the Bishop, check out the original Battle Chess.

After watching a lot of games of battle chess, it’s pretty cool to hear the pieces speak.

A good chunk of this tutorial is actually taken from the original Battle Chess Tutorial, with only the Bishop getting downgraded to lacking the historical significance.

The queen reminds me of Meg from Hercules and gives Regina vibes from OUAT

It's good that this version of the Battle Chess Tutorial is now updated to have a slightly better pace. The only downgrade from the tutorial is how the Bishop is now vocally flat and lacked the history behind the piece; which is crazy, considering the other 5 chess pieces kept a good chunk of the original tutorial dialogue.

@@yeetandyum3709 I would love to see someone rip the models from this game: maps, props, and characters (including skins). It would be interesting to see people play around these living chess pieces, if it were in SFM or Gmod.

I think the reason for the change was to avoid having The Queen kill her own Rook.

I think I heard somewhere that "bishops" used to be "ships". They would go back and forth along diagonal routes on the board as though sailing along with the winds and currents. When they changed the "ships" into "bishops" hundreds of years ago, that inclusion of the church helped the game take off.

⁠@@Marshal_Longarm it means that the Bishop lost his historical significance in his tutorial. In the original Battle Chess tutorial, the Bishop talks about his various names in the past, how the original Bishop Chess Piece was an Elephant when Chess was founded in India, the Bishop becoming a prominent player piece once Chess was presented in Europe, and many things. I say this, because most of the Chess Pieces retained their dialogue from the previous version of Battle Chess, while the Bishop had his dialogue changed to be completely generic.

With No Subtitles: i am the rook With Subtitles: "i am the root 💀" With No Subtitles: with my brother rook With Subtitles: "with my brother Brooke 💀"

@@deangelojohnson137 yes, but it doesn’t make sense in the context of the original tutorial, where the Queen was always red when destroying the Rook and giving the Tutorial.

My favorite chess piece is the rook

The queen keeps going on about the rook being an 'egomaniac'. Meanwhile she's out here boasting about her powrs and how she's way better than any piece. Very hypocritical.

Because she can back up her talk....she is to be feared especially if you are under attack and she hasn't gotten close to King.

You really think a Knight with a Horse on his Armor isn’t convincing enough to be a personified chess piece of a Knight (which is a horse)?!? I mean, yeah, Pawn looks like the OG Battle Chess Knight, but that’s because they want to upgrade it from the “Tall Staff is the only weapon” Pawn, which was already a wimp in the original Tutorial.
