I pet with fake hand on 100ft pole? This reminds me of that woman who rescued a cat that got stuck in her fence and put out an email to all her neighbors trying to find who it belonged to but no one claimed it. She complained about how horribly mean and destructive and ungrateful it was. Somebody pointed out it was, in fact, a bobcat and not a housecat. I guess they didn’t have bobcats in her home country.

It’s too friggin cute. But if that quick tail swishing is anything like domestic cats like mine, it indicates the feline is feeling uncertain/uncomfortable/potentially annoyed, not all out defensive/hostile but best give them space. For cats, you want to see a tail straight up and bonus if it’s up with a slight umbrella handle kink at the end (but no swishing).

I think what got me is that there aren't two different names for the hybrids 😅 like ik horses and donkeys have mules, which doesn't change based on parents; but lions and tigers have ligers (lion dad tiger mom?) and tigons (tiger dad, lion mom?), and I'm pretty sure I've heard of others having that split too? 100% thought it was just a difference between domesticated hybrids and wild hybrids but imma have to look into it more now

@@JacquelineUnderwood Hello! There is in fact a different word for horse/donkey offspring when the parents are swapped! An animal with a horse dad and a donkey mum is called a hinny :D It's just nowhere near as common a word. So your domestic/wild hypothesis tracks... but in reverse Ligers/tigons are an artificial hybrid you don't generally find in the wild because lion and tiger ranges don't overlap My guess is that making the distinction in the context of intentional breeding/hybridisation serves a purpose because the humans involved want to know what they're getting. Making that distinction for wild animals that occasionally hybridise by chance is probably much less useful

High school is meant to give you general knowledge and teach you how to think. For anything more specific, you need to go to college, a trade school, have on the job training, etc. It's not a bad thing that they don't teach you EVERYTHING. @msjkramey I absolutely agree with you. I should have probably clarified that I think the problem is that some people act as if high school education is definite. Like the people who say things like "It's basic biology. You learn that in primary school.". (Or other subjects and sciences) I was lucky enough to have had teachers, who often emphasised that the real world is much more complex. But I often feel like people forget that.

It looked like a mix between (what I normally picture as a) lynx, and a small mountain lion. Even it's pattern was pretty tan, similar to a mountain lion's. I also love watching him(her?) going up and down this tree to the left of my house. I had no idea bobcats were so arboreal and adept at climbing. Or maybe it's just because he's in the suburbs and doesn't have as many options for hiding or feeling safe?

The majority of the school passing halls and such were actually outside, with awnings for shade and whatnot, but majority outside, with the classrooms being grouped in little buildings. One day there was an announcement over the pa about there being a literal bobcat on the school property, and they basically said “it’s not being aggresive, but please do not touch it or attempt interaction, just let it do its thing”. We’ll all the students parted like the seas and this bobcat literally was just walking through the dead center of the school as though it was some kind of King. It knew the school was made to worship it! 😂 it did actually get super close to most of the students and was super chill, but we also think it assumed IT was a student as well

And I used to have a pet bobcat growing up. Rescued what i thought was a regular kitten from a tree surrounded by dogs. It never got as poofy as the one here but it had the pointy ears with the tufts and the bobtail. But it was gray and black. Honestly wasnt as soft as you'd imagine but it was super friendly and loving. Always brought us dead birds, amd more than mice.

I had a Bobcat years ago. I raised him from a kitten and Tiberius lived a full life of cuddles and whole milk. I still miss him. If you are blessed to have one adopt you know you are lucky.

My Tiffany was the greatest. Bottle raised her. All the purrs and cuddles, but the temper on that girl! She never raised a claw to me, no matter how much I annoyed her. I was her person, but the rest of the family had to stay on her good side. She lived to be 20 years old. Honestly, I think she lived that long out of spite for the world. I miss her greatly.
