How can you KNOW when Jesus Christ is coming AGAIN?

In today's episode, David and Kwaku talk about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as Mormons) believe about it.
What are some of the signs that Jesus is coming again? How do we know we are in the last days? What are some of the prophecies? We go through a list to answer all and more of these questions!! Some of these prophecies are already going on, others are not, and others we do not know what they mean or when they will happen.
What do you think of these prophecies?? Let us know in the comment section!!

You've been investigating the church for years? Can I ask you why you haven't decided to take the plunge, so to speak? As someone who joined the church more than fifty years ago, I remember thinking they couldn't get the baptismal font filled fast enough! I brought my entire family into the church and my pastor and an elder visited me in an attempt to talk me/us out of it. We didn't let them do it and we've never regretted it. So please don't delay. If you approach it prayerfully, you'll never regret it, either. So much of how we're judged depends on _when_ we accept the gospel. Eventually, every knee shall bend and every tongue confess Christ, but so much depends on when we do so. God has done so much for us. Perhaps that's why he expects so much from us as to when we accept what He's given us. Just sayin'....

@@Hanleia1 I am going to quote myself from another thread where we were talking about Journal of Discourse accuracy. Brigham Young, like many other early leaders, was only partially literate. He had only 3 days of formal schooling. Multiple wives wrote in their journals that they would spend their evenings reading to BY both newspapers and private letters, which he would then dictate responses. At the time he did not have an official record of his sermons. For the most part they were extemporaneous and unscripted. George Watt, who had learned Pittman shorthand in England(where he was from) was a reporter for the Desert News, (and later the Salt Lake Tribune) whose assignment was to cover Pres Young both as Prophet and Governor. From all evidence he became friends with BY and received permission to independently publish sermons from various Church leaders. As far as can be determined from official minutes where the project was discussed, the general attitude was that of relief. The Church would not need to pay individuals to record sermons, or pay for publishing. Preserving a record for latter generations was not their priority in the early days of Utah. The project became so financially successful for Watt that he quit his day job, (later sources claimed he was fired but I can not confirm that) and he hired/trained others to take the actual dictation while he remained the chief editor of the Journals. This continued until after he was excommunicated. Even though several Apostles and other leaders objected, all the professional transcriptionists worked for Watt. Leaders wanted an alternative, which launched in 1899 as the official General Conference Report, which has been published twice a year ever since. At the time, the JD was still the most popular source for past sermons. For a long time it was the only source. Even after alternate sources for then current sermons became available, the JD was the only published source for the early Utah period. As the LDS Church did not even own the copyright, and had no editorial control, several leaders including both B.H. Roberts and James E Talmage publicly refuted the JD citing John Taylor, Ezra Snow, and Wilford Woodruff, all contemporaries of BY who argued the JD had 'misunderstood' some of BY's teachings. By this time the JD had become rooted in the traditions of the LDS Church, even though it had never been approved as either doctrine or scripture. As those with personal memories of BY died off, objections became less frequent. By 1950, it was only professional historians and academics who commonly complained. It was still never officially endorsed, and as the primary instructional handbooks of the time were inspired by Talmage, not used as an authorized sabbath curriculum. In 1941 an alternative to the JD was finally published, called the Discourses of Brigham Young, by John A Widtsoe, an Apostle and academic. Although not an official publication of the Church, Widtsoe went through hundreds of historic records verifying accuracy. This is the work that has become of the standard in all official publications since that time. It never became as popular as the JD. I suspect because the language of DBY is 'drier', and less 'hellfire' than the more exciting JD. When David McKay became Prophet, one of his desires was to update the instructional materials of the Church. This process, which started in the 1950's took decades to come to fruition, resulting in both the publication of Gospel Principles, (which although uncredited, was primarily written by Gordon B Hinkley) and the new editions of the Hymnal and the Standard Works. At this time the JD was relegated to mostly historical curiosity. The only officially published manuals citing the JD were Institute of Religions class manuals discussing the history of the Church. The lack of competing narratives from the same time period guaranteed that it could not be excluded completely. This is also the period where Google searchable Conference talks are available. Quotes from the JD are rare, but do exist. From reading the talks, it appears to me this was mostly a matter of familiarity. Every JD quote from this period can be verified with the more accurate DBY. Finally in 1997 the first and only officially authorized document compiling the BY's words was published, in the first volume of 'The Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young'. To the best of my knowledge, it has replaced all prior sources of quotes of BY in all official settings. Finally recent research indicates that the JD are even less reliable than previously believed. If you are interested in this research you can find it here: byustudies.byu.edu/content/prophets-have-spoken-but-what-did-they-say-examining-differences-between-george-d-watts www.millennialstar.org/revisiting-the-journal-of-discourses/

Fun fact, my wife used to go on walks with a neighbor friend of ours, about 25-years ago, who worked as one of the church's senior architects. He clearly described their crowning project; the New Jerusalem Temple, which had already been fully designed and is ready to go once the church secures the land and gives the go-ahead, in Independence. The church already owns most of the land in and around the temple lot and working to secure the rest. He said the main spire will rise 40 stories high and the temple will have 12 domes surrounding the main spire and that the temple will be very large, seen for many miles away, and have 12 entrances around the fences with each tribe of Israel listed on ea. entrance. He talked in detail about many other things about the temple but said it will be used for both the main temple of the church and for a center of learning. He said they were also designing the church's headquarters, which will be near the temple and other things as the church prepares for their eventual headquarters and conference center in New Jerusalem.

So I watched a documentary on the 2 prophets in Jerusalem prophesy by the Joseph Smith foundation that was really interesting and well done. They put forth the idea that it is very possible that that prophesy has been fulfilled with Joseph and Hyrum’s death and they back up that claim with really interesting quotes by the prophets and scripture. Personally, I am not totally sure, but it makes a lot of sense. However, many prophesies are fulfilled more than once so....I guess we will learn as we go. I did really enjoyed thinking about it though and going through the scriptures on the topic during the documentary. You can subscribe to the living scriptures and watch their documentaries. I have a feeling you guys would think it was interesting as well.

It appears to me, by both scripture and experience, that the "second coming" is widely misunderstood, even in the Lord's true Church. The only way I see that can tie all the scriptures together is to remember that Jesus said "come again" not second coming. And Jesus comes again, not to the whole world, but to each individual. At Pentecost, Jesus came again, by His Spirit, fully into the lives of those present and believing. And so today, in the personal pentecost that is the true baptism of fire and sealing of the Holy Ghost, Jesus comes fully into the life of the individual who truly believes. As Jesus said in John 14:20, "On that day, you will know that I am in the Father, the Father is in me, and I am in you, and you are in me." This means, on a certain day in each individual's life, that you truly comprehend that you are One in the Spirit with the Father and with the Son, perhaps even forming a different version of the misused phrase, holy trinity. So this is how Jesus' promise of returning is fulfilled in every generation, to quote the title of Elder Bednar's book, one by one. This does not mean there won't be, as the Church teaches, a glorious return of Jesus to the Earth, for all to see. It just won't be a second coming, but more like a third coming. And Jesus can't Himself say the time or the hour because that coming in glory is dependent upon the free agency of every individual. I assure you He has no intention of coming back to be crucified, figuratively or literally, again. I testify, particularly to non-believers, that Jesus is fully alive now, and waiting to become fully alive in you. And in coming fully alive in you, He shall soon, as we are in the latter days, become alive in your family, your friends, and throughout the world. The Apostles of old waited upon the Lord for Pentecost, now it is the Lord that waits upon you to truly receive Him, even Jesus Christ.

Each tribe that refers to this person, uses a different name and some translate as Elder Brother. Some stories say that this "white God" said "follow me for I am the truth. Some Natives thought that the Spanish was the "white God" returning but the "white God" gave a particular "code" (a certain handshake) so he could be identified. When the Spanish couldn't give the correct code, certain tribes sent them on their way. So yes, there are people that believe Natives have always had a knowledge of Jesus, he was called by different names.

@@mikegipson6996- One DNA used to condemn the Book of Mormon is mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). Only women pass mtDNA to their children. All of us inherited our mtDNA from our mothers. The other genetic marker being used is the Y-chromosome (Y-chr), which is passed by men to their sons. Tom Murphy, Simon Southerton, and others claim the Book of Mormon is false because neither Middle East mtDNA nor Y-chr has been found among the American Indians. Here are a few reasons for that. Lehi and his family of no more than 40 individuals sailed into an area already populated by tens of thousands of people. They intermarried with the natives and their mtDNA and Y-chr disappeared within a few generations. Another reason would be that after the arrival of Europeans in 1492, the native population was drastically reduced by warfare and disease. In the National Geographic video "America Before Columbus," Professor Andrew Isenburg of Temple University said that upwards of 90% of the Indians died within 50 years. Entire villages and tribes vanished. That means that all DNA tests performed today would be on the descendants of the 10 or 20 percent who survived. That is not a very accurate sampling. Also many tribes have refused to participate in any genetic database tests. My final reason is the unreliability of mtDNA and Y-chr. Our second daughter married a man whose paternal line is Danish and whose maternal line is Japanese. They have a daughter and two sons. All three children have the mtDNA of their mother, which is my wife's mtDNA, which is from Sweden. The boys have their father's Y-chr, which is from Denmark. Using the same tests that Murphy and Southerton cite to support their argument, one can prove that those children have Swedish ancestry, and that the boys have Danish ancestry. But NO ONE can prove that they also have Japanese ancestry! If those tests cannot find any mtDNA from their Japanese grandmother, who is alive, how reliable are those tests in finding Israelite mtDNA or Y-chr from 2,600 years ago? The lack of Japanese mtDNA in those children DOES NOT mean that they are not part Japanese! The lack of Israelite mtDNA or Y-chr in the surviving American Indians DOES NOT disprove the Book of Mormon! The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

We talk about the temple in New Jerusalem needs to be built before the second coming. Rev 21:2, 10 talk about New Jerusalem descending out of heaven. If that city exists already perhaps it already includes the temple and this prophecy could be fulfilled quickly. There are other scriptures that refer to this idea. Check out the Topical Guide.

I copied and pasted this reply from another member of the church because I couldn't have said it better! You need to be careful on how you classify some members just because they are sharing the signs of the scriptures God has given us! We may not know the very hour but yes God has given the children of the light to know the season of His coming!!! This next paragraph is from another member-"I have watched several of Sister Stoddard's videos and found nothing that cannot be verified in the scriptures or by statements made by general authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I may not agree 100% with her conclusions, but she does not make any claim to know when prophecies will be fulfilled or exact dates that certain events will take place (unlike the Daybells or any number of apostates / false prophets). Sister Stoddard does not preach doom and gloom but, like the general authorities, suggests this is an exciting time to be alive and witness fulfillment of long-foretold prophecies. Her works do not encourage me to do anything other than what I have already been doing - studying, praying, and working to build God's kingdom in preparation for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ." Ps I like most of your vidios but classifying someone as a conspiracy theoriest because they share the signs of the gospel was rude!😑

Don't forget that people were called to be prophets before Christ without being Apostles. Therefore it is possible to call prophets without calling them as apostles. "If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hates. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world, as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church which is accused of being behind the times, as Our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which theworld rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because he called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which amid the confusion of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly, it is other-worldly. Since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. ... the Catholic Church is the only Church existing today which goes back to the time of Christ. History is so very clear on this point, it is curious how many miss its obviousness..." Fulton J. Sheen

But what if the second coming happened with the fall of the temple in Jerusalem when all the records of the Jews were lost... the book of revelations starts with, shortly and the time is near and if you look at the original text in the Greek, it is the words that always means in a very short time and also states in Matthew 24:34 that (talking about the his return) that it will happen in this generation, and if you do the math, whenever it is talked about a generation, it is about 38 to 42 years... also talks about the mark of the beast, if you take the numerical value for the Hebrew letters and relate that to the the ruler then, it was Nero, which Hebrew value is 666... and if you look at the fragment 113 which is dated back to over 1700 years ago, it has the number 616 which is equivalent to the Greek translation of nero which is Nro... and the list goes on... so, if it happened then, that would completely discredit all of what Mormonism is based on... would it not?

The occasion of Paul’s writing to the Thessalonians was to correct some of the errors concerning the end times that the believers had heard from false teachers. Among the falsehoods was that “the day of the Lord has already come” (2 Thessalonians 2:2). The Christians in Thessalonica were afraid that Jesus had already come, they had missed the rapture, and they were now in the tribulation. Paul had already explained the rapture to them in his first letter (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Paul writes his second letter to assure them that, contrary to what they had heard, and despite the persecution they were enduring, the “day of Christ” had not yet come. In 2 Thessalonians 2:3, Paul makes it clear that the day of the Lord, a time of worldwide judgment (Isaiah 13:6; Obadiah 1:15), will not transpire until two things happen. First, the falling away, or great apostasy, must occur. Second, the “man of lawlessness” must be revealed, he who is called the “son of perdition,” also known as the Antichrist. Once this person makes himself known, the end times will indeed have come... the man of lawlessness could have very well been Nero.

@@seans5289 Kwaku is a coward. He promised to respond to comments on his video that justifies segregation ad racism in the mormon church that continued until 1978. He lied. He does not respond to thousands of questions asking him to clarify his position. He is just a typical Mormon apologist, trying to confuse the issues to preserve faith in things that are demonstratively not true.

Is it possible the "fall" means... will no longer have influence?--because the "Stone" cut out of the mountain without hands has filled the WHOLE earth--conversion to Christ is the preferred, and maybe prophesied, de-struction of wickedness--the Sword of the Spirit/Word of God--broken hearts and no more disposition to do evil.

You call it gobbledegook, but what if I’m POSITIVE that the Second Coming will happen with a Mormon President of the United States?!? Jk, jk, I have no idea! And that’s not even a possibility that I had considered before 2 seconds ago, but you can’t tempt me like that! It was too good an opportunity to pass up! But this video was awesome, thank you!

Matthew 16:28 " Assuredly I say to you, there are some standing here that will not taste death till they see the coming of the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom" Question. Are the people Jesus was speaking to, still standing there? The answer of course is no, because Jesus did come prior to the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Start reading history guys. Try The "War of the Jews" and "Jewish antiquities" by Favius Josephus. Jesus was seen coming in the clouds by hundreds of Jews in those days. Also read the works of Tacitus about the Jews, and Eusibius.

The battle of Armageddon is described in Ezekiel 38-39 and Zechariah 12-14, also Revelation 11, which speaks about the two prophets. The Beast/Gog will be a Muslim military and political leader from what is now Turkey, and a religious leader referred to as the "false prophet."

    - The Gospel to be preached to all the Nations hasn't even started yet! The Lord gave Joseph the opportunity but they failed. D&C 77 Joseph himself that the restoration hasn't happened yet and will come with John the Revelator when he comes from beyond the Ice wall (yes flat earth truth) - see D&C 133. - The New Jerusalem will NOT have a temple: Revelation 21:22 - And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. - your incorrect on your understanding on in this generation, Things were destroyed within that generation and then when THESE things come meaning the end then... - Joseph was commanded to go west but he disobeyed and thus died. IF he KEPT following the Lord then verily he would of established Zion. According to Isaiah 54 about the Lord's last day church, she sinned so much in her youth that he left her and will reclaim her in the end, so NO he has not been to any other prophets! Whoever claims to be his last day church MUST also claim that he left her! - Again the Gospel has NOT been restored - Read D&C 77! - The Adam-ondi-ahman is about 3% true but pretty much WRONG - there is a chance that Brigham changed a lot of things (it's in church history). Adam and Micheal are NOT the same person, reincarnation is of the devil and Micheal came and spoke to adam, micheal buried moses' body and etc... The Ancient of Days things as written in English (highly misunderstood) will happen as the rev 12 child gets caught up (when Jupiter reaches the milkyway or sooner) Also the Garden of Eden is on the center of a flat earth map, Adam was kicked out and walked by the Mississippi river til he got to Illinois and there he built an alter, Joseph NEVER said that the garden of Eden was here. - Jesus already has a fullness, the (keys) was added by man as a controlling thing. (more church history) - There is more then 1 last war: The one very soon after the peace plan - see Thessalonians, the one at mount zion - see 2 ezras 13, the one at old Jerusalem and the one at the end of the 1000 yr millennium. Read Ether 13 - Zion or this land will be redeemed first and then old Jerusalem, thus the first shall be last and the last first! - YES is is Vatican. Read 2nd Nephi, even John in Revelation says she sits on 7 hills! - Atom bombs are also fake! Look at the old footage - ya it burns really hot and etc but it's a scare tactic... - There is way more to the 2 olive trees. - The lands will move back, sun gets darkened, all vehicles fail to work, water goes back and you think that their is going to be cell phone and internet... - That black hole IS COMPUTER GENERATED and according to them is the equivalent to A PIXEL in a gigantic picture. All NASA feeds you is a lie! Please just try to prove it wrong! - The continents will come back together but not on a globe. It's in Isaiah! - America is the 4th beast kingdom as daniel and his brother ezra saw it! kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJuHvMFmfN2um5s.html - The Lord coming to the Kirkland Temple WAS A VISION, Read D&C 76 also The first VISION was a VISION! Church history stuff.
